So are the clues referring to a 2nd signing? Is it Solomons, the youth guy?

Any reason you suspect it Solomons? Having a fifth center back, two of them youth, would seem pretty unlikely to me.

i thought someone posted a pic as a clue, with a plane that had 'air solo...' on the side

just a stab based solely on that pic. For some reason i cant find it now when i scroll back a few pages

Why weren't his team mates celebrating with him?

They're still unsure whether he's actually a Costa Rican or not.

Because the goal was anulado (disallowed).

Reece Caira trialing with the Nix is an interesting turn of events.

This is interesting. According to Sam Worthington...

Meanwhile, Hernandez will make his first appearance for the Phoenix in a pre-season game against Miramar Rangers at Porirua Park tonight.

Merrick will also run the rule over triallists Reece Caira and Alex Rufer.

Caira is a 20-year-old left back who has played 10 games for Australia's under-20 team and two for A-League grand finalists Western Sydney Wanderers last season.

Fantastic news about Rufer and Caira is interesting. Don't know if he is the over-lapping type Merrick wants though.

Looking for a joke answer to this I came across a striker called Rowan Vine who might have been a good target if he hadnt just signed for Hibs

Obviously Rowe and Hogg haven't impressed.

Hogg was in Scotland trialing and well jury's out on Rowe. Good going forward, but slow and not so sound defensively

I wasn't really impressed with either of them last year. I think Hogg had more potential but was not as good as I hoped.

Nix management probably just holding off until it's 100% and the player is in Welly.

Headline from the forums maybe but must have done some work to find out about Caira & Rufer. So some credit to him.

WSW fans I speak on twitter are very surprised about Caira, as there were pics of him at their training from just a couple days ago.

Probably allowed to explore other options of first team football elsewhere in the league plus they also brought in Heffernan

At least we know this Cunningham guy is currently playing for the best team in Bolivia.

Appears Luke Rowe's trial with the Phoenix has ended. Shame. Rate him. Lots. Just lacking a bit of pace that Ernie is so keen on.

So it sounds like a whole lot of trialists have been let go in one hit while a few new guys have come in.

Fuck this stupid game

Really thought that he was about to sign based on your boat clue...

Current Costa Rican international too, coming off appearing in all four Costa Rica games in the Gold Cup in USA the last few weeks. including the quarter-final loss to Honduras Monday morning our time, plus their three World Cup qualifiers in June..

Seems like Ernie likes to bring Hernandez a Costa Rican friend or two to talk to.

So, if Rowe is gone, and Lochy is gone, and Hogg went overseas to trial, is Caria now the most likely candidate to play left back?

Shall we sign David Carney for LB? He don't got no ~contract.

At least he doesn't play for The Strong or The Stronger - they're both shit.

And don't get me started on The Weaker. They only team in Bolivia worse than them are The Weakest.

So now we're playing LB and RB idol; not just RB as in previous seasons. Exciting times ahead.

I definately would seriously consider it. There was talks he was going to return to Sydney FC this season. Not sure he would want to come to Wellington. His first option if he were to return to the A-league would most likely be one of the Aussie teams, and I imagine most of those teams would be seriously favourable to offering him a contract.

Could he reinvent himself into a position that requires less pace?

Cunningham current international... so we would lose him during international windows.

I'm disappointed to lose Rowe.  Pace is such a big deal these days, and Ernie seems very keen on fullbacks who can charge forward and attack - but the guy seemed to have some really good attributes to me.  He is a big unit, he seemed to anticipate play well, and he could tackle.  I hope he picks up a contract somewhere else.
