I'll admit to thinking Hogg was worth a shot and then being quite disappointed with his general positioning after seeing him play more. Still think it is worth taking a shot on players like that though. Never thought Rowe was good enough.

Still think Rowe was better in the 'Nix than Hogg. More confident and better on the ball, just seems he may not have the athleticism for Ernie(/this level?)
I also have a soft spot for Lia. If our off the ball movement is better and we have more options/better strategies to play out of defence I think he will be fine.

Lia routinely crapped out around the 65 min mark, esp. getting caught the wrong side of the ball on defense.  That aint going to improve as the season's roll by...

Yep!....got lots of time for Lia, him being the last founding player of the Nix. However he is one of those players who has got buy more on hard work, mental toughness and a never say die spirit rather than individual brilliance. His greatest problem is inconsistency. If the team is doing OK and he has time and space on the ball he can pick out passes as good as anyone in the League. However if the team is under the cosh a bit and the opposition are pressing hard he does start spraying the ball about. The new Ernie Super Plan needs some one with a higher skill set who can consistently hit the front runners....because if we can't transition the ball from defense to attack accurately then it does not matter how many fancy attackers we have. The new DM is going to be the key signing this season IMO.

Rumour courtesy of Yohan in the Jeremy Brockie thread:

"On final note, a little birdy told me that Nelsen has no plans to buy Brockie from Wellington, and may again be interested in him once his contract is over few years down the road. And Nelsen hopes to do a loan with Wellington for some TFC reserve players. One player is Kyle Bekker, young Canadian international CM who plays more of a deep playmaker role. Very technical player who can make a pass, and has decent set piece ability, but doesn't dribble very well and at the moment can't keep up with the pace of MLS"

As much as I would like a two way arrangement, not sure using a visa spot as a development spot would be a great idea. Happy to have a look at him but we need someone who will be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Did he sell his TV to have the finances for such a purchase?

Nice article.

We always top the 'balls into the box' stat but it's never really got us anywhere.

lindsay might want to just stay with the team all season and train which IMO is mental. He has every right but club should eat his final year and lindsay should actually go play some football in the ASBP (the 8 games a year during the phoenix challenge don't really count)

Pics of the Sherminator out with Mossy and Box at the Football festival day too.

Euro transfer window now shut. Is Ernie now peeking behind the curtains, looking for that elusive DM?

Yeah, he is the one mentioned by In The Zone. If we are still after him, I'm not sure this helps us. He was released before the transfer window shut, so can still sign with Euro clubs rather than having to consider our offer as the only way out.
