Thats good news...
All players move on, we now have two All Whites in other A-League clubs because they are good enough to take import slots.

The Nix are a path way, now all we need to do is develop some young Kiwi players.. come on Draper, time to push the Cov's out.

Doh...

I was thinking of Moss and Brockie...
Serves me right, should have been working..

I suppose one of them had to go. Always seemed a shame to have one on the bench.
 So Spoonley back next year?

Moss, Smeltz etc should have been given contracts at the end of last season, not know when other clubs are approaching them

I'm quite excited by this move actually. Yes I rate Moss above Paston but it's pretty marginal. This gives game-time to both of our top 'keepers and a chance for Spoons, Imray or another young bloke to step up.

Besides, we seem alright at developing 'keepers.

interesting move by moss...pity for us but if he doesnt want to be here  then hes better off gone...mind you it seems theres a pattern developing where we struggle to keep our quality players...felipe who may have been a greedy Twit and now smeltz and moss..also the likes of brockie not good enough for us but good enough for others...after the joel porter fiasco its going to interesting watching the nix  management as they go about their business signing new players

agreed cotract terms....didnt we hear that last year during the porter saga....good to know a mans word is worth bugger all in this day and age....would have loved to see the reaction in the nix office when they found that agreed terms once again translated to f**k you

Hmm. So we now have another player who apparently had a deal on the table but has decided to knock it back and bugger off elsewhere. Interesting!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

well, another one bites the dust as far as i'm concerned. I just hope that Paston will not be overcome by the pressure of being the Nix number one.

Another point also. Now that's enough. See what's happening to the Jets this season? They lost all their best players but the griffiths bro's and are 7th on the ladder. I don't think that ONLY by having big names in your team you necessarily do better than others....but...big names often mean BIG good players don't they??

it's time to resign a good number of good players and to buy some farking new talent.

He plays in the Norwegian 14th division.  Having seen him at the Kingz and the Knights don't hold your breath.

21 goals in 19 games at his time at his club. He is also a New Zealander

His contract expires July 2009.

Yeah true. Wasent it announced that phoenix would be signing two player but nothing happened. Now we have Fred and they said that had been tracking him for a while could of had some delays so this might mean there is another signing on the way ?

While initially the Moss loss didn't concern me massively apart from the fact we were losing him having read that report it intrigues/worries me more. What is going on so that he has a contract in front of him that all he had to do was sign to get to a point where he doesn't sign it? Is it concurrent with him being on the bench? And if he is going to be number 2/3 i don't really understand it to be a move forward

Be fair. They haven't actually been at the club for 10 years, have they?

Sad fact of life is that the only thing most footie player have any loyalty for is their wallet. (and, in some cases, their missus!)

what happened to developing professional football in new zealand...seems a bit of a contradiction in terms to start a pro team in wellington and then watch as the players move on...i thought the pathway was to europe or higher quality asian leagues not across the ditch..

I think next season the aim should be getting talented young players like peverly and gleeson as well as signing higher paid players

Fair point but you know neither of them would've had a chance of being signed by the clubs they are going to now before the Phoenix.

Totally agree.

At least they did the business for us and didn't blatantly use us as a stepping stone like Fatboy E****h did, or like Gao seems to be doing.

Kris Bright is contracted with Norwegian Division 2 club Kristiansund BK till July 2009. Just in time to start for us next season if he was a goer.

Looked good on the video. And second top scorer in that league this season.

Anyone know how that competition rates compared to the A-League? Better? Worse? Similar?

I'm not as gutted as I thought I would be about Moss. He is a great keeper but I've always thought that we shouldn't have both of them in the squad. Paston will be good enough and someone like Gleeson or Spoonley or possibly Imray (how old is he?) on the bench.

There is no way of comparing except to say it's the third tier in Norway and there are four divisions at that level.

To be frank, it isn't likely to be great.  From memory one of the Norwegians that used to play for the Kingz plays at the same level.

Not sure that is fair on Tubby.

We released him and he found a new club.  He wasn't superb for us, but I think he'd have happily stayed here if we had offered him a deal.

does the club get anything for these moves? I mean how does the contracting work, I thought Smeltzy had a year left on his contract and Im not sure about Mossy. Was it just good buisness and will it be re-invested?

Both had two year deals which finish at the end of this season, so no transfer dimes or anything

A-league clubs also cant buy other A-league club's players. They can only sign them on free transfers

Well the Melbourne supporters don't seem to be all that pleased with their latest signing:

I will be outraged if this c**t is given starts over Langerak next season.
