Yeh not bad to be rated twice in the top ten performances at the world cup by the Guardian.

Reddy was good for us, but was bad for Brisbane and released there...in fact woeful.

Everyone can have a good game or a bad game- but Paston was immense for us last season and at the cup.

Not at fault in the goals last week.

Paston was in a very good patch of form before he got injured though.  When he's at the top of his game I think he's just about as good as any one in the league, but I don't think we've seen his best until that particular spell.

Vukovic's brain melts don't inspire confidence for me...I'd prefer to stick with Paston and spend our money elsewhere.  Like others have said I think he's earned the right to be number 1.

We need a back up keeper whatever happens...imagine Paston got injured now?!

I wouldn't say Paston was 'immense' for us last season really, especially when he missed half the season, and was present for the start of the season when we enjoyed throwing away leads fairly regularly.

I don't think he's terrible by any stretch, I just think a few people have gone a bit overboard following THAT penalty save.

You're an idiot.

oh f**k off mate.

you can't say that Paston was solid last week, or even the week before where we played NZ under 20's. The ball came floating to him, called for it, dropped the ball right at the feet of their striker and he tapped it in. f**king awful. Then, he was subbed straight after.

TBH Gould looks much better in the pre-game warm up. Give him a shot !

And the saves against Italy, yeah he was sh*t. That save he made off James Brown (?) right at the end was average as well. He was quality for the most part of last season. Where he finally had a number 1 jersey that he definitely had, without Moss and him changing. And we saw what he really is. An excellent goalkeeper. No he isn't Iker Casillas or Julio Cesar, he's not even Almunia but he is a quality keeper for this level and in the top 4 I reckon atm, with Theoklitos, Galekovic, and Bolton (who has been a bit wobbly though).

Would love to see another keeper of the quality of Vukovic in the squad. Who knows what the catalyst for the great run of form over the latter stages of last year was but the injection of Reddy certainly helped and showed the difference between having an average keeper between the sticks and a quality keeper.

We'd be a better team having Paston and Vukovic fighting for the number 1 jersey.

the WORLD CUP IS OVER.

His form NOW is shocking. Get in a replacement.

do you want to win the league ? I assume YES. So that means get in the best players to get the best team.

forget about Paston, you'll be thanking me when he goes. The best thing he did last year was get injured. And you know i'm right.

Speaking of Reddy, he hasn't been as good as he was with the Nix as he is for Sydney.

As I recall, most (all?) of the saves v Italy were ones that you would expect most goalkeepers of any standing to save. Not 'easy', but nothing that was utterly astounding.

And what about that Slovenia game? Not so good there.

At the end of the day, I just want another decent keeper in for a bit of competition and Herbert can decide who should be no.1.

It's too easy to blame goal keepers, what about the defence?

Paston is our number 1

thats pretty tough. he made some helluva good saves against Italy (the kind of saves that a keeper might make but you wouldnt expect them to make 6 or 7 in a row) and then also Paraguay in second half. Plus, he was great in the air.

Yeah I concede I was maybe a bit harsh there, I do remember a string of saves and some safe hands in that game to be fair to him.

Competition is required though, and I am not sure Crowther has quite got enough about him to realistically challenge Paston.

Bit too extreme. I'm all for Vukovic because he's a quality keeper, Australian and without a club. But not because Paston is in "shocking" form.

What? Galekovic and Theo were easily better than Vukovic and Paston in recent form is easily better than him as well. Even Clint bloody Bolton was probably better. Vukovic is a show pony who makes good reaction saves but doesn't inspire any confidence whatsoever. (he's kind of like an Aussie Moss)

not sure mate.
does anyone know if this is the last year where kiwi's don't count as imports for us? this issue needs to be fixed imo. they need to make kiwis the same as aussie players!

So who are the mystery two?

Herbert wants to sign another attacking player before the transfer window closes at the end of the month and said the club was in talks with two foreign players.

"We can't leave the squad too light on numbers. There's a couple of players in mind so we're just working behind the scenes to see if we can make that happen."

He said he could not reveal names because the players were contracted to their current clubs, but both were good enough to push for a starting spot.

And he actually turned out to be a very cool guy.

I have to say I've felt pretty guilty on occasion for having thought he was a cawk.

+1. Thought he was a dick and overrated. No longer think either.

I heard Reddy was a bit of a big headed t**ser still? Alas, still a good keeper so I don't really care about that. Well, now he's at Sydney I guess I do! The big headed t**ser!!

Well there's nothing there that quotes anyone saying he's going to the Phoenix, the fact that McMaster is in the country and has been confirmed pretty much cancels out that Vukovic article.
