Vicelich is a fantastic player and would accept him in the squad at the drop of a hat.

Same. But if we had signed Vicelich were we still wanting North? I'd prefer the latter.

It would have been great to pick up both. We played against Boca in something of a 4-2-3-1, and Vicelich could had played in the either the back four, or holding two.

I really hope Musa turns out like a Patrick Veira kind of player. Huge expectations I know, but I'd love to see a CM of ours in a top team. There seems to be plenty of young New Zealanders coming through the ranks now. But I still think Elliotttttt would be a great addition, although it would mean an already quality midfielder misses out.
Musa = Defender

Jack Rodwell was a defender at age16 aswell and nows hes transformed into a midfielder.
Musa = 18
You know we belong together...

Just watching the Australia v Slovenia game.Boring by the way.
The commentator said that North hasn't been released by Tromso yet as they are trialling a replacement and if this doesn't work out North may have to stay until the end of august.
Anyone else heard this?

Interested to read that Ricki still hopes to sign another player:

Herbert is also still hoping to sign one more player before the end of the current transfer window after deciding against bringing in Indonesian forward Bambang Pamungkas.

"We've got until the end of August to sign somebody otherwise we'll have to wait until the January transfer window," he said.

"We probably could do with one more player. There's nobody at this stage who has put their foot in the door."

I reckon they should get players while they can, because long-term injuries can be a bitch.

Not sure what sort of player they'd look for though, another attacking central midfielder, or another natural left back to cover Lochy?Ard Righ2010-08-12 11:06:40

I don't know the regs, but would North really count towards the minimum cap of 20 players if he wasn't fully signed? I'm thinking it's bollocks

I think you'll find the commentator was right. Translated this off the Tromso IL website.

"TIL Australian defender Jade North will leave the club 30 August

TO has been agreed with Jade North that he can leave TO on Monday 30 August.

To www.til.no says sporting director Morten Krmer that Jade may leave the club before, but that a substitute then be in place

- We have an agreement with Jade that he basically leave TO for Haugesund fight, but we should get a replacement before this date will Jade be able to leave earlier, "said Krmer.

Krmer do not want to comment on the above www.til.no TO whom have binoculars as Jades replaced."Luis Garcia2010-08-12 15:46:44

Well said that man!

Well it said on Tromso IL's official website that he'll be leaving the 30th of August at the latest. If they get a replacement before hand then he can leave earlier.

Sounds about right. Explains why he was still listed as being with them in the socceroos squad list. Good for Siggy!

Allegedly

This seems a little unusual though, if he has signed to play for us, and they presumably aren't expecting him to come back and play for them then why don't they just release him immediately?  They don't actually want him to play so why are they hanging on to him...

Normo's coming home

He has been on the bench the last two games. Cover for any injuries?
I guess he will arrive next week sometime. Or not.

Let's sign Dewhurst, plonk him smack bang in the centre of defence and let him talk for 90mins. It would be enough to bore the sh*te out of any striker in the world!

COEY TURIPA!!!

Or Danny Vukovic.

Danny Vukovic would be a superb signing. Just released by Konyaspor over a contract dispute, basically he got shafted by the club by them not sending through his contract to the Turkish FA, the club were hoping to sign some local players but couldn't so had to use the foreign spots on outfield players. PFA and FIFA are backing Vukovic, but he is now a free agent.

As much as I feel bad for the guy, I have to LOL at the 'Smeltz Defence' from the Turkish club.

Vukovic > Paston. I'd start him for sure. But I'd be happy with Spoonley or Turipa.

Rick talked about three keepers at the start of the season and has now said he is looking for a longer term player.

Though as one of the comments on the article said, there is no quote actually linking us with him.

What does Paston have to do to get some respect here? Got us to the WC, played great for 2 games there and has been playing well for Welly also. (he kept us in the Gold Coast game despite not being easy conditions for a keeper) Vukovic is in no way better than him and is much more prone to brain explosions.valeo2010-08-17 19:33:16

Paston was swatting at flies the whole game last week. Does not ooze confidence at all.

Paston has my respect, he's a good player. But Danny Vukovic has been the top keeper in the league for the last few seasons.

Paston has had some decent games, and saved a fairly weak penalty that helped get NZ to the World Cup, however I think he's slightly overrated.

He's relatively solid but I am not sure anyone can deny Reddy was better, and IMO inspired more confidence in the defence than Paston does.
