Krishna is great. He's got heaps of muscle considering his size. Plus he's really quick, certainly for the NZFC. Corrales, in Waitakere anyway, offered nothing but diving. Then his eventual red card compounded a pretty miserable day for him. However, he scored a few and I hardly watch him regularly. But it'd be great if Krishna could sign for the Phoenix... Love that guy

Also looks like he's not available anyway:

a lot of arse-covering and back-peddling going on.

Come on Tony - you've been back a whole week (  )- we're speculated out - announcement time.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Agreed that its a quiet time for us on here and it would be nice to have some news..
but if it was a choice between keeping the lid on a potential signing until the ink is on the contract I would rather wait, ta very much ...
no more opportunities for Porter type "burglaries" from those Gold Coast Seagulls, et al ....and, (who's counting?) season 09/10 pre-season games must be,um ...just 3 and a half months away..bring it on!

There any chance Ricki Herbert will check out the Thai talent and see if any players could fit in at the Phoenix.

Opportunity wasted if he doesn't.

Does Thailand have a professional football league for their home-grown talent?

I guess their best players would be creamed off by the J-League or similar heavy hitters.

Has the A-League ever had a Thai player?

Here is something to think about..

NZFC players could be likely.
Depending on if the NZFC 09/10 season will be on..
The money problems are still there so... Its up in the air at the moment (Source: Upscale Trailer Cafe Owner And YoungHeart Manawatu Midfielder; Raf De Gregorio 29/03/2007) there will be a lot of Players out there that could be snapped up by other teams, Maybe A-League? (Krishna?)
It will also affect the Phoenix youth team idea too. Because if the NZFC is put off for a year the proposed plan for the Nix team to join would be put off. or set back.
(Apologies if this idea has been thrown out)

And.. Krishna > Corrales?
Definitely.

What we need to find judging by the size of the crowds at the cricket recently is a decent Indian player. The Wellington Indian community would go beserk, could well increase the crowds by 50%

Pity they'll all rubbish (I think)

Waitakere United = Krishna.

The extra N could always have been a typo?
Or maybe we should be more critical on everyone's posts..

What is this word 'da' you use?
Are you referring to the play by Hugh Leonard?
Or maybe everyone already knows what you are talking about.

Next time make sure that you type right before you dish out criticism.

Have we speculated about this guy before ??

A Kiwi, no worries about the import spot.

SURFERS Paradise coach Keith Garland has renewed his call for A-League clubs to train their radar on Kiwi midfielder Jason Haines who marked his first game of the season with a hat-trick in Saturday's 6-0 slaying of out-classed Mudgeeraba.

Ruled out of Miron Bleiberg's calculations at Gold Coast United because the newcomers have filled their five visa vacancies, Haines, 22, should be on the hit list of Queensland Roar, according to Englishman Garland.

"He's got a bit of magic about him and is far too good for the Premier League," said a forthright Garland. "If United don't want him then the Roar should have a look."

Haines hammered 13 goals in nine starts for Surfers last season, and Garland is perplexed that Bleiberg is bothering to hand trials to several Gold Coast-based players when, in his view, there are juicier pickings to be had in the Brisbane Premier League and Q-League.

"Jason far exceeds any of the local boys and quite why Miron is looking at them I'm not sure," Garland added. "He's lightning quick and he can finish."

Haines, who also scored a treble against Mudgeeraba last season, was joined on the scorer's lists as Surfers picked up their first points by Frenchman Jean Charles, with a brace, and Matt Murray.

How hard is it to spell a man's name right FFS.

The quality of journalism and editing in this part of the world is bloody dreadful.

ex-Waitakere and finished second to Luis in the NZFC Golden Boot race as well and having played in most NZ age group sides.  He's hardly an unknown.

But he's still young, so he could be maturing into a better footballer than he was in NZ.

Maybe the Nix should take a look.

Krishna & Corrales to trial with the 'Nix

"Meanwhile Pignata has confirmed Waitakere United's Roy Krishna and Luis Corrales of Team Wellington will trial with the Phoenix next month."

Nice to hear something at last.. although not unexpected I guess...

I must admit I am starting to get a little nervous about our 2 new strikers - the UK trip was reported as going well with just some paper work to complete to get our new strikers on board but we've heard zip for close to 2 weeks.

Now we are trialing Krishna and Corrales.

I really hope they are on trial to fill an extra striker spot and not as one or both of our starting strikers - far too risky, for my liking, to bet the season on players unproven at A-League level.

The other option is a youth spot but I think Krisna is too old, I don't know about Corrales ?

We have heard zip because they don't want anyone else diving in and stealing the sigs.  Two UK strikers is about 95% likely from what I hear.

Luis is older than Krishna.  26.

Both Luis and Krishna can play as wide attacking players as well remember.

I feel better that they are both getting a trial rather than not giving either of them a shot.. would hate for one of them to head to another a league club and score against us, if that happened all we would get is bitching about how ricki and tony didnt give them a chance

Ok so with Tp and Rh getting so close with wigan, do we think maybe one of the English strikers could be from wigan. Maybe a loan or reserve but maybe a possibility?

Krishna and Corrales is a good move. It's not like we've signed them and I don't think it's be bad if we did. Sure they don't have A league experience but neither will English strikers we are bringing in.

Ok comparing apples with bananas? Possibly, but these two guys are the star players of the Nzfc and will have at least trained with the squad before they are signed. Just because these English folk are english, doesn't mean they will automatically rip up at the Ring of fire.

Look at the knights and kings English has-beens. And look at Sigmund. Easily made the step up while the English really failed to deliver. Krishna has played against Adelaide and didn't look at all bad. He was running right at the players and really giving it a go. I'd imagine that if Corrales was given a shot then he'd step up too.

I'm not saying that krishna and corrales are better than the English players we could get. And I'm not saying that I don't want these players coming into the nix. I'm just sick of people considering the local talent as being inferior to an English import.

Hopefully we can nab two top class players from overseas and hand Krishna a spot as well. But using either Roy or Luis could offer a new dynamic to the phoenix. I'd hope that we aren't looking for strikers past I'd prime with only short term contracts. Sure I don't mind, but I'd much rather have some youth in the side so that we won't have to go through this hit and miss process every season.

Surely peopleall agree that we want to be nurturing this team and growing it into a stable mould. These two young guys offer us this chance and even if one or even neither are signed, we should at least let them have their chance.

Congrats for both of them on their trial and I hope they really impress.

You miss the point - I don't think anyone is suggesting English players are automatically better but; which would you prefer as your starting strikers for next season;

A. Two players with a proven scoring record in English League 1.

B. Krisna and Corrales.

Think carefully - the season will depend on getting the "right" striking partnership - we missed the playoffs last year because we didn't score enough goals.

My vote is A with the better of Krisna or Corrales joining the squad if they show they are good enough in the trial.

We missed the playoffs because we wern't good enough- Right across the park.
Sure it would be a fantastic start but two good strikers,a cure for missing the playoff's?
We need to juice up our midfield too or our new strikers will be chasing long balls all day.
