Back to the speculation.
ANTOINE SIBIERSKI, currently attached to Wigan Athletic and on loan to Norwich, attacking midfielder/striker, aged 34.  Both locations visited by Tony and Ricky.

He's the sort of big target man I reckon could play alongside someone quick like Krishna.

Even better then. Funny actually, you're rather similar to an ex-YFer, and he suported Chelsea too.

Which Denilson? The Arsenal version? Cause if you think he's a muppet you may wanna hold off...he's only 20 and has played in at least 80% of Arsenals games this season and has come close to filling in Fabregas's shoes!

I dont think its him, it was another one, one that was a complete flop.

Yep, we're getting that Denilson. Also heard that Theo is keen to come down.

The Problem is all these players want to play in australia not new zealand, because australia is so much of a 'glamour' country (We all know its not) and New zealand is a nobody country (We know thats not true either)

In a purely footballing sense, it's very true.

heres an article about Denilson I found in my FourFourTwo on when he moved from Sao Paolo to Real Betis for 23Million quid

When Denilson signed for Real Betis in 1998, new teamate Alfonso Perez admitted he'd nver seen him actually play 'But for the price we've payed for him he must be very good'

I'm not actually bothered copying the rest of this out so i'll leave it at that

It means too many of you people are talking out of your arse "lets sign Denilson", and nothing realistic is being added

Latest from Ricki;

Q; Can you confirm any more Phoenix signings?

A; "Only Diego [the Brazilian striker lured from Adelaide United]. There's a strong possibility a minimum of one will be signed from our recent trip to England. That could happen in the next 10 days. We're hopeful of getting two, but one's more across the line than the other at this point. We are targeting two strikers. That's the club's No1 priority."

Very very disappointing - we have gone backwards since last season - lost Smeltz, Moss and, by the sounds of it, Dodd and only signed Diego with only one striker as a real possibility at the moment.

Q; The Phoenix finished last in their first season, but were on the brink of the playoffs last year. Can you win the A-League at the third attempt?

A; "There will be 10 teams trying to do that....... We would love to be a finals team and be part of that competition at the end of the year. That's always been the club's focus since day one."

If you can't make the top 6 out of 10 teams, when 2 of them are new ......

Real concern for me is the lack of ability to deliver;

Everton then Fulham then Wigan.......

2 English League 1 strikers and a side trip to Brazil then maybe 1 English striker no trip to Brazil then . ......

I just sense we have well and truely gone off the boil at a time other clubs are starting to slowly but surely gear up for the new season.

Recruitment will determine the success or otherwise of next season and the deafening silence out of the club in the last few weeks and Ricki's hardly reassuring answer don't fill me full of confidence.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

The World Cup qualifiers will be smack bang in the middle of the A-League season. Who will be running the cutter at the Phoenix while you're away with the All Whites? "We're about to appoint a couple of staff who haven't been announced yet. That's all been covered."

Another interesting quote.
You know we belong together...
