Or we thought he wasn't worth what he was asking.

he didn't just over price himself. he was asking for ridiculous things like waterfront houses. he got in over his head. there are many more players with much more class and consistency that we can sign for alot less than what he was asking for

If another club is looking at Luis Corrales why arent the Phoenix?

Come on Ricki, you must be scouting the NZFC being played on your doorstep.

Corrales would occupy an import spot.... (Pretty sure of that)
I'm of the opinion that if you are going to sign an import, then bring in players that are going to make a real difference, otherwise give the spot to non import/domestic players. I don't think Corrales would make a real difference as an import.

Who would you recommend signing from the NZFC?

Yes, he would occupy an import slot but how many imports did the Nix use last season and how many imports are currently on the books? He would also be as cheap as a kiwi player.

Potentially Roy Krishna, Diego, and (according to Aus 4-4-2) two imported strikers and another imported attacking midfielder... that's the new 5 limit.

He's been in NZ much longer than Daniel... I would have thought some appropriate paper work would resolve that problem anyway.

From the NZFC?
Krishna and Gillespie as reserve keeper

McPeake as a youth and reserve keeper? Not A-League standard yet but one for the future.

Depends where people see the yoof spots going.  I can't see the number two keeper coming from NZ... best options here are probably Spoons or Imray but he has barely played this season and I don't see the club thinking that would put enough pressure on Paston.

I suspect we'll see an Australian.

Theo?  Or is that rumour dead and buried?

I know he's not really the type of player we need, but what about Andy Barron?

Andy Barron:

1: Skillful footballer no doubt.
2: Can K-Rock stop drinking long enough to concentrate on professional footballl?
3: Probably a bit light and small (from memory)

oooooooooooo... I'm not sure.

They each offer something different with Pevs more defensively minded and the Barron more attacking.  The Barron certainly seems to have more impact on the NZFC side he plays for than Pevs does (from what I have seen and read).

So, still not sure.

I like the idea of barron - but perhaps pevs just because he has more room to grow.

don't think there is room for both

Barron FTW simply because I haven't yet seen Pevs in the Zone on a match day.

With Barron in the latest All Whites squad he'll get his shot to impress Herbert...

I would imagine that his appearances in the Fever Zone (with or without Bob the Builder hat) will be limited either way.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Heard that we were signing Chris Triantis from Syd FC's youth team.

That rumour was bouncing around a month ago (on SFCU) but since then he has trialled at either the Mariners or Newcastle.

Claude Makelele?  Aparently considering retiring from PSG at end of season.

Maybe an enticing Marquee offer?

Are those Brazilian trouble makers at PissAnt FC likely to be in Herbert's reckoning?

I always knew that Diego was a good signing for us, but hearing that just makes it sound even better!

have they confirmed who these "trouble makers" are yet?

it isnt christiano and cassio is it?

Would be nice to find out.  Those two certainly seem to be leaving and if they're not the instigators of the 'politics', either one or both would be nice signings :)

Travis Dodd was on BBC's World Football a few weeks ago saying there wasn't a "clique" of Brazilians in Adelaide and that they (he was mainly talking about Casio) were just regular lads.
Tim Vickery was surprised.

If the rumours are true, and we get them, we could end up with the same situation.

I had heard that the Adelaide Brazilians were pissed off at the player rotation...Diego often not even on the bench and Cassio often benched. It would be fine by me to see at least one of them join Diego at the Phoenix.....no probelms with them getting lots of game time with us if they played OK. Not sure which one we would want the most?

Cassio personally, though any one of them will do
