Can't think who the former Man City player would be.  Off the top of my head I know paul Dickov is playing league one.  But he is 36.

Looks very 'Porter-like' !!! Maybe a better physical build than Porter too!

Hope it is him!

yeah looks like a top player. thats not a bad strike rate at all. didnt think ricki would be looking at english players though. im glad no names have been released, we dont want another joel porter saga but in saying that i cannot wait until a SIGNED players name is released :)

Let's not get carried away (we've been there and done that already lol), Ricki and Terry haven't even gone over there yet and seen them so it's a long way from any kind of deal being DONE...

Though to be fair, this is the speculation thread

English players?

Ahh, Knights flashbacks..

I trust in Tony P/Ricki though so hopefully it comes off.

Ever the cynic aye HN.

At least these guys aren't well over the hill like Mr. Devine was.

Speaking of which does anyone know whether he's still in AKL or is he now back in the UK?

Also Lee Peacock (Swindon Town) Manchester City 1999-2000,  although he's now playing as a midfielder.

Of that list only Michael Ricketts really stands out as worthwhile. Michael Bridges I believe is a Hull City player on loan to Carlisle so probably doesn't count.

Ricketts was okay for Boro but kept getting injured I recall.  Still reckon we should get retired Mendietta as a marquee for midfield even for the half season when it snows over there!.

Does he have a cool beard like Hashim Amla? If he does, we should definitely sign him up.

Nah he's a slaphead on top and on the chin too.

Just read he has a stg400k get out clause at the Latics and is on stg1800 a week  so would assume he's out of our league - shame

You wouldn't want a player who was top scorer in the SPL for Hibernian?wellyphoenixfan2009-02-04 17:29:08

Agreed, Killen has proven he can score at SPL level so why wouldn't he be able to score at HAL level? The fact that he's been injury ridden since moving to Celtic doesn't nessisarily meen he's injury prone. The fact that Celtic even wanted to sign him should be insentive for the Nix to cash in. Still let's see how he goes while on loan.

If hes at Oldham we want him! A side of undoubted quality, has scored 15 goals in 26 games in the League.

Current state of play;

15 players contracted by the club for next season and beyond are;

Paston

Muscat, Sigmund, Lochhead, Durante, Mulligan

Diego, Daniel, Brown, McKain, Bertos,  Ferrante, Lia, Hearfield

Costa

We need to sign another keeper, Dodd (or another centre back) and 2 youth players. That makes 19. Talk is about 3 strikers (2 from UK + Brazilian). That makes 22.

I think that will be it - we should / will keep at least 1 squad slot up our sleeves for too good to miss opportunites / flops.

Means no place for Christie.

Also can't help starting to think someone is playing silly buggers with the time it is taking for Dodd to re-sign.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Personally, if Christie does get dropped I hope Ferrante improves a lot next year, because Christie IMO is a very useful sub, not super-sub status but useful none the less.

From memory Phil Jevons was alright back at Everton, didn't play a heap but EPL quality none the less

He's not worth 6k a week doing nothing, but having seen him play almost every game he ever played for Hibs, I'd say he could do as well as Smeltz, if not better.

As I also said, we would not have to pay him the $800,000 calculated above because his value has gone nowhere but downhill since he signed for Celtic.

Jevons, Alexander, Bridges all have a Tigers background

of the 3 Bridges has the pedigree (if - as News  hinted - he can stay injury free) but even then seems to have a bit of funny attitude

the other two have a reasonable lower league record - probably better than smeltz's - and look what a gem he turned out to be

following the  leilei gao experience, i hope whoever we sign passes both the fitness test and the 'attitude test'

Based on how he has (or in this case hasn't) played for Auckland City so far, I would have to say that I'm glad he didn't
