Durante red for us, Prentice red for Bling.

No-one's yet sure if we got the second red, and who it might have been.

I have been looking in the sydney forum and they are all confused over it too

Hard News hasn't come up with anything so I'd err towards there having been a muck-up with Goal.

Methinks someone at the FFT office likes Brosque a bit much.

Can confirm: Durante second yellow - not straight red - will miss final. No other caution concerns for Phoenix. Bling, on the other hand, have issues.

Hi Fellow Fans,

I was at the game tonight and let me just say it was one of the best games I've seen in a long time.
We played very well and were not too troubled at the back. Durante and Siggy were solid (even though we conceded a soft goal off the set-peice). Manny Muscat seems a very handy player was keen to overlap... is very quick and shut down EVERY cross from his side.
Daniel had touches of brilliance but faded and as a result he got dragged early in the 2nd half.
Ferrante played well his passing was great, never gives the ball away cheaply. Hearfield was average too be honest, but his finish was first class. Kwasnik did well when he came on... silly yellow for a 'hand of God'' attempt.
Smeltz - Unreal! His workrate is just incredible. Hearfield's goal was because of the pressure Shane put Fyfe under and hence won the ball 40 meters out from goal.
We were a bit lucky with the spot kick... but that's the only call we got all night.
Terrible mix-up by the FC defence for our 3rd...
Durante should never have got a red ticket... it was Kwasnik that should have been sent for retaliation. Prentice also got marched from SYD.
We also had a goal disallowed in the first half (50/50 call).
Durante almost scored a glancing header... and we hit the crossbar.
All in all... an excellent night out... well worth the 1.5 hr drive.
Can't wait to come to Welly for a home game.

hahahaha i cant believe this is how we got the winner;

"Wellington's second half dominance continued to threaten Sydney's FC's defence and when Timpano failed to complete a pass back to keeper Necevski, Lei Lei Gao intercepted the ball, rounded the keeper and put the ball in the back of the net give Wellington a 3-2 lead."

Sydney fan's view of the game:

This was a game of two halves if ever there was one. In the first half we pretty much ran the show, and the 'Nix had no midfield to speak of, and their wingers were sh*te. Brosque was everywhere and even Giraldi was 100% rubbish. The first goal was great stuff - I wish we could pull it off more often really. Nice finish from Brosque. The second goal was from a very nice Prentice free kick, helped on by Fyfe. Good stuff. Our defence was solid, with Poppa and the Myth controls things in the centre.

The second half saw Poppa go off, and we lost our strength and direction at the back. The Myth and Fyfe in the centre just do not click at all. They don't seem to communicate well. The first 'Nix goal came from Fyfe being dispossessed too easily about 30 yards out and Necevski getting caught out - also too easily. The second goal came after a 'Nix corner - after a bit of scramble Giraldi got tangled up with a 'Nix player at the edge of the box, as he was moving away FFS. The third goal was the Myth's fault. I don't know what he was thinking, but he made an incredibly weak back pass that went straight into the path of a 'Nix player who went on to score easily.

With Brosque's yellow and Prentice's two yellows in this game we are screwed royally for the Melbourne game Thankfully Poppa made us look assured at the back when he was on. If we can keep he and the Myth together in the centre with Fyfe on the right and Middleby (or maybe Cole?) on the left, our defense will be solid in the Melbourne game. Add Colosimo sitting in front of them and we'll have reasonable distribution too. I just don't know about set pieces and strikers though

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Sounds like a goal straight out of football manager.

Three for me, and two for them.

I have supported the kingz and the Knights and I would just like to say OH Wellington Phoenix FC you are the best.
What a wonderful feeling to see the side that you support into the FINAL.
Atfer all those years of the team I've supported finishing bottom year after year this just feels bloody fantastic.
I know it is only pre-season but I don't really care at the moment as I feel I'm on top of the world.
To be able to say to both the Perth Glory and CCM mates over here( in Perth) we are in a final is just mind blowing.
Also to you YF when I watch the game on tv and see thousands of you at the game singing it makes me very proud to be a member of the Y F and Phoenix team, so thankyou all and remember Phoenix to I die.

Voice of reason: there's a long season ahead yet lads.  This is brilliant but it's only the pre-season cup!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

An authentic "we've got the wind, the rain & the Phoenix" would be good tho', otherwise those Ockers would think it always shines in wellington.

I found out this morning that while I was peacefully slumbering away after the Phoenix's win, I had left the live scoring website open, so every so often the goalscoring sound would erupt from my computer, much to the annoyance of my wife, who was not as deeply asleep as I.

At about 4am she finally got sick of it and got up to turn the sound off.

I can't wipe the grin off my face - this is just fantastic - preseason cup final, at home, in only our second season.

I love we can come back from 2-0 down - shows the team has real spirit and backbone.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)
