Not sure if it has been mentioned, Boca are having an open training session at RoF at 4pm on Thursday.

What a stupid time to have an open training session. Don't they know there are people coming from out of town who won't be able to make it? This is just sooooo f**king typical of Wellington.

Rubbish call.

4pm is perfect for students and school kids who can not afford to get to the game to get a glimpse of Boca. The open training is also the day between the All Whites parade and game day so enables true fans to come and enjoy three consecutive days of footballing entertainment and celebrate our WC achievements.

Missed the news I think, but what was the result in the Maradona invite?

I think he declined. He's too busy snorting raro powder and getting over his teams performance at the WC

I think the appeal of Boca, beyond football purists, has been way over estimated - as reflected in the ticket prices for next weeks game.

I think the lesson to be learned is you really need a strong brand - either an individual (e.g. Beckham) or club (e.g. Man U) to reach beyond "football supporters" and fill the stadium.

That is really surprising, especially considering the population of sports-mad Melbourne. What were the ticket prices there? I'm fairly confident we'll have more than that, I'm picking 20,000+. But I'm an optimist!

Spoke to a few people at the weekend:

It's expensive, so they will wait to see the weather.

According to metservice, it will be raining, southerly, 30kph winds.

Is there any word on any sweet sweet merchandise that might come with such a match? I'm hoping for some half Boca, half Phoenix scarfs. I'm still using the flat's spare Phoenix scarf ever since I sold mine to a drunk Scotsman in Christchurch.

Went into the Phoenix shop on Saturday. No playing strips, no Boca stuff, not even a Phoenix scarf. They said a boca/Phoenix scarf was coming out this week.

That might be a fair comment, if it weren't that I'm on dial-up at home. Even some forummers moving avatars slow down my computer. So porn downloads are pretty much out of the question, unfortunately.

Split scarfs would be cool. Actually very cool.

Spotless have cancelled a couple of the bars they had planned to open for the game, ticket sales not where expected.

Will probably be about 10k - will mean some bullsh*t articles from here in Aussie wondering how the WC didn't have the same effect on NZ as it did on Aussie blah blah

What did they expect?

I thought 12k would be a good crowd to get for this. Its a warm up game with nothing on the line, playing a team that the average NZ suporter/player/kid knows very little about and has no players recognisable to them.

The crowds will come when the real games start.

10k is well decent. Most of the 'crowd' side of the stadium full.

8k sold, 3k memebers and 1k corporates... 12k.

No Boca merch.  It was Boca's part of the deal to supply it and after no one turned up in Melbourne they have bailed out.
