Why should we destroy newcastle, they beat GCU last week did they not? When theyre in form they play damn well.

I thought the Newc v Gold Coast game was poor. We have had a good test v Perth (who are very good). At home and confident  we should be too good.

Boy a bit of confidence and its "slow down sonny jim"

We drew with perth. They drew with GCU. I think theyre in better form, and theyre dangerous if they hit their stride.

Haha i just wouldnt call "we should beat them easily" a bit of confidence. This game makes me quite nervous actually.

Newcastle weren't great against GCU, and we recently beat GCU at the same stadium. We have nothing to fear from them, apart from complacency.

TBH whoever won out of us and Perth would have fancied their chances in a home playoff against Newcastle. We've lost once at 'home' this season and Perth have lost once too. Newcastle weren't great on the weekend, and haven't really looked the goods all season (apart from that winning streak mid-season).

And so we should go in feeling alright.

Heard an irate Jest supporter this morning complaining to a Sydney AM Radio Sports show about the FFA not moving the Welly home game to Australia. It "wasn't right that we should have to get Passports to watch an Australian team play".

Radio hosts were a bit confused to say the least.

hilarious.

GCU were very schmaverage in that game and Newcastle made them look good. Still doesn't stop me from being nervous, but have a better feeling than I did for Perth.

I have always had a lot of respect for the Jets coach.
I would not like to bet on this game?

I say fluke.

I know people who have been coached by him and worked with him in football and they pretty much universally say he's rubbish.

Much as I dislike Branko I think it's harsh to write him off as rubbish. Granted finishing 6th out of 10 teams isn't exactly a glowing testimony to his coaching ability but along the way they have played some very good football. Inconsistency is obviously their major problem.

Looking at the Jets on paper early in the season I thought they were a disaster waiting to happen, yet somehow he managed to pull them all together and the run of wins they went on was no fluke. Plus any coach that can keep Ljubo Milicevic from self-destructing must be doing something right!

Hello all,

I'm a Jets fan planning on coming over to watch the game, but due to work would have to fly over on the Sunday morning. So, my question is if I land in Wellington at 2pm would that give me enough time to get from the airport to the stadium, not sure of distances and stuff like that.

Anyway guys, all the best!

Yeah mate, the flyer bus leaves every 15mins into town, and only takes another 10-15 to get there. Pushing it though! Wont get much time at the backbencher. Come in for a quick beer if you get time!

Easily.  Cab will have you there in about 15 minutes.

Not sure where you leave your bags though.

2 pm landing, maybe 30 mins to clear customs.  No sweat to get to the stadium.  Even time to stop off for some pre-match lubrication.

Trip from airport to stadium should be 30 mins at the most on a Sunday.

Welcome to Welly.

Thanks, should be no worries then.

Hope it's a good game, I don't know if I'd make it through penalties again!

Won't have any luggage, I'm not some tard from Melbourne that will want to go on a shopping spree afterwards, I'm there to watch a bloody football match. Backpack with a change of pants should be enough!

I gave Prime telly a twitter message thanking them for replaying the Perth playoff game, they replied that are replaying the Newcastle game and any more we have:

"good news - we'll be playing all the Phoenix games during the final series! Look out for the next game Sunday March 7 at 10.30pm."

Newcastle in better form?  Another wind up I suspect.  They lost their last four games in the regular season.  3-1 at home to Sydney, 2-1 away to the Fury, 3-0 away to Central Coast, and 2-1 at home to Adelaide.  We finished with three consecutive wins.

I agree they are dangerous if they hit their stride but in terms of form we are the team.

On Sunday my flight got into Welli at 4.10pm. Had *plenty* of time to taxi to my apt, drop my stuff off, walk to bus stop, bus to train station and walk along concourse to make the 5pm start.

Only worry for me is if Bridges gets fixed between now and then. He makes that team about 45,000 times better.

Just some context there.

I doubt you could say Newcastle are 'in better form', if you actually watch their last few game Ard Righ2010-02-24 13:24:48

I meant results wise in the playoffs . Poor wording. Just meaning if theyre hitting their stride now, theyre dangerous. Drawing with GCU 0-0 is a good start to that, and theyll be confident having beaten them. It was a rebuttal to someone say that we should beat them easily.

Oh dear no...a toothbrush is de rigeur here...BTW you are only allowed to bring in unopened bottles of water into the ring of fire..speaking of which, I had a curry last night......hope your plane isn't late and you have already bought your ticket, otherwise you should be OK to get to the game on time.
Good luck with everything except the game result.

No AWs rested. Itll be the same as last week, siggy in for Mckain. Maybe Caceres in for Bertos, depending how he pulls up. But Caceres didnt exactly shine when he came on in the weekend,so Bertos should start.

Daniel for Bertos. Just throwing it out there. But I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Caeceres.
