Quite agree.

whats the point in having thai airways as a sponsor if u cant get decent seats?
having just done the aukland to LA longhaul its not much fun. the boys are gonna be tired for sundays game. dont forget LA is 21hours behind NZ as well

Because Thai Airways don't fly Auckland to LA. They could possibly fly business on Thai but how does that help if you have to go via Bangkok. Also I am not aware of there being a code share agreement between Thai and Air NZ even though they are both part of the Star Alliance. Besides, I have flown Thai and having to look at purple for long periods is not good for you.

Also, Air NZ used to do special fares for national teams so if that is still the case then they are already helping out.

Lastly, regarding Fallon, it is not the player that is bitching as far as I have seen, it is Paul Mariner his manager (effing tractor boys ). If he wants Fallon to be well rested then why don't Plymouth pay for his upgrade. Same could be said for the Nix but so far I haven't seen that they have an issue with it.

How much was qualifying for the World Cup worth again?

thats a shame then, as that much longhaul travel in cattleclass in that short a time will definitely affect players. maybe the nix boys can get 1st look a the exit rows

rojas, so special

Not really caring too much about Rory, but it seems very frugal that NZF or the Nix can't arrange for the players to have business class on the way back.

Id rather spend that on things that are badly needed, not on business class for bitching Fallon or for 2-3 nix players being slightly more fresh for a domestic playoff game.

Long term investment > blowing money on short term perks.

A fellow Wgtn Marist gadge and I managed to round up 50 numpties for the big game. I left the tickets at work but I think the infamous Pax Man was approx 23,500 at 3pm today. The guy in the Nix store said that over 25,000 had gone.

Unfortunately, we are in aisle 4 which is the furthest away you can possibly be (diagonally opposite) from the FZ! I just hope that the fever spreads throughout the ROF.

Our five rows of ten will be making plenty of noise-hopefully others round about us will get in amongst it.

Middle-aged, middle-class, and bored with rugby. Football isn't called the 'beautiful game' or the 'world game' for nothing. It is both of those. The more people watching, the better.

Wellington really is wonderful, even with the wind and rain, but especially because of the Phoenix!

Welcome aboard Sunset Sam, we are all Newbies, even though I saw the first home game, (and all the other home games bar Chch).it was only a couple of years ago since we started, and as you say, the more people watching the better.  Being a founder member doesn't mean we can look down our noses at anyone, for me I'm just happy to have been part of it all, and welcome with open arms (in a manly masculine way of course, lol) all converts, prodigal sons, and anyone else who comes to enjoy the game in a happy frame of mind.
Thanks for taking the trouble to send your opinion

Exactly. Thats what im always bleeting on about. Some people tend to lean that way,I believe it is more an unintentional attitude however. So dont go taking such comments to heart, the more new fans we can get to share the nix experience the better!

Nice work mate, more fans the merrier. I too jumped the bandwagon, first post only a couple of days ago (found out there was a YF minivan travelling to the Jets game from auckers). I'm just glad the Phoenix has brought a love of football to even the score alongside my love of rugby...and so I can divert my attention from s**t teams like Man U.

Hope to see you at the game next weekend.

ps editing that huge post was extremely painful on an iPhone

On Air NZ they changed the name of business to premium economy didn't they?

No, Air NZ  dropped first class, and now only offer a business class service called 'business premiere' as the top tier of service.

Premium economy is around 40" of legroom, better recline, water bottles, snack service, and first service during meals,  although it is economy food. I think they may have slightly better booze choices, but that probably won't be a consideration.

It's also a dedicated cabin, so they should find it quieter.

Having flown Premium economy it is better than some airlines business so Fallon and his manager can stop bitching.

Some of my work colleagues are transplanted poms. They still remember going to games with their dads years ago. Those memories will last a bloody long time.
My 8 year old  boy and I have been to every home game the Phoenix have played.I don't get that much time with him but  , Christ this is priceless. We have the same routine every game , have had the same seats for 2 years and eat the same sh*t at half time ( probably was the same food as 2 years ago , now I come to think about it).My favourite time of the week; his too , I think .We've had the same seats for the play offs and neither of us can wait for next week. If the Nix keep going , we'll be going across the ditch as well.
Only thing , he's now started asking " Daddy , what's a wa**er? , as in the referee's a wa**er" Sooner or later , my answer of "an owner operator" won't do but for now , sweet.
So it is a game of football , but for us , it's way more than that.   That's the best thing Terry S. did when he gave Wellington  the Phoenix ; the opportunity to do this ! See you on the 7th!!

It is quite a short turnaround for these guys. Its weird that the european lot get the best return trip, whereas the A league guys get economy (premium or not)

My 6 year old thinks they're saying The ref is a "banker".

I assume he thinks this is some sort of anarcho-socialist reaction to the global financial crisis.

(He does know smeltz is a c**t, obv.)

Reminds me of an incident last year (unrelated to football).  My son (9 y/o) & I were at the intersection of Courtenay Pl & Taranaki St.  Taxi hit the car in front of him.  Driver of the car rolled down his window & shouted at the top of his voice "YOU F**KING DUMB C**T!!!"  Everybody heard him.  My son said "Ooooohh he said the F word".  Phew, thank god he didn't ask what a "c**t is.

My six year old daughter enjoys standing on the seat giving it the full 'who are ya' finger pointing treatment.  ok, it isn't foul language, but it is pretty priceless (specially since she was only 4 when she first started up with it).

Stories like this are priceless. Sod 10 years, hopefully in 25 you'll start taking your grandson as well and we'll get generations of Nix fans.

I don't think I can come back to this forum for the next few weeks, because the awesomeness of this upcoming occasion will be too much for me to bear!

I really, really, really hope it is a sell out guys. Go for it! I've already recruited 2 replacements to go in our steed, probably swear and cheer louder than us too so hopefully that makes up for it?

When I was over in Perth a couple years back, i went and saw PErth play Melbourne.  Was sitting behind a family, when the son asked 'what a w**ker was'?  The dad's response was 'it is someone who sexually gratifies themselves with his hand'.  I laughed so hard.

I am thinking the Fever Zone need to start a chant of "10 More Years", or "We want 10" several times during the game - especially if we're winning. Many of my workmates and friends who have got hooked on the Nix after last week's game have also become more aware of our situation concerning the Asian Confederation. I'm sure a lot of the crowd would join in, and it would send a good message to the FFA - just to add a bit more to the fact that the stadium is (will be) sold out! Wibblebutt2010-02-27 09:25:12
