You won't go wrong with any of those options. I know someone that stayed at 97 recently (that's only 1 block away from the Octagon). Alexis opened less than 10 years ago and is right in town near Knox Church. Clean units and well maintained. Farrys has been around for years and well known in Dunedin so I'm confident you'd be looked after as it seems to be one of those "old fashioned service" businesses. And Allan Court owners were very friendly and positive about anything to do with the stadium (and looking forward to having the 'Nix back in town).
All the best with that :)
Anyone want to share accommodation? (Shut it News!)
I'm tidy, dont snore, sometime grind my teeth and fart, like long walks on the beach, movies........f**k it. Lets be honest it might get a bit messy so someone happy having a few beers and possibly having to kick me to wake me up before check out?
I reserve the right to withdraw this offer if i dont like the sound of you.

For those that were there in August, what were your general thoughts about the Fever Zone and do you have any complaints/suggestions?
North stand is fantastic for viewing, but pretty steep - maybe not ideal for jumping up and down with a beer lol

I left stadium officials know that I was perplexed as to why FZ was split into 2 sections. They said it was because they though some people wanted to be in the Zone but not behind goalposts. I think that's dumb.
Zone will be West Stand like last time but no confirmation about the splitting.

Cool.
The People's Yellow Fever in one zone and the Popular Yellow Fever (the splitters) in the other.

Tried to warn you guys about TicketDirect.
No family ticket options.
No Yellow Fever options.
The only thing they got right was the time tickets would go on sale. But what's the point when the tickets aren't there to be sold?

Ahmed .....you are the Dunedin guru. The fountain of all knowledge. We all value you opinion coz you have been an awesome promoter of football
I have a question for you. What is your gut feeling about this game in Dunedin especially related to the crowd size?
I am a little nervous that this could be a bit of a dead dog. Mid week, student all left town, difficulty of getting lots of YF down for the game etc etc. To me it seems likely that we will get a 4000 to 5000 crowd
Whats your call?

Nothing from the Nix about tickets going on sale, I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for YF.

We need to remember it's not the Phoenix' game. It's the FFA's job to promote Dunedin.

But it wouldn't hurt them since they are playing the game to at least let people know that tickets are available to purchase.

I understand the Dunedin game is different but don't they usually leave the Nix to do their own marketing? as opposed to the effort they put in over in aus. I don't see them doing anything extra across here for this game. Ahmad > Nix > FFA.Fuck this stupid game

I get into Dunedin on the Monday, so I will probably spend some time handing out flyers around town to try to drum up a crowd. It's the least I can do following Ahmads amazing effort last time.

Hi mate I did say early on that I wasn't going to dwell on the negatives but since you raise the matter here are the my thoughts on the situation.
Getting the game was a bit of a booby prize IMO. No students around, pre-Xmas rush, and 2nd game in a few months so some of the novelty value is lost. Add to this that a mid-week game will CRIPPLE the regional support August pre-season attracted.
I said from the outset that because of all these hurdles (which others were equally aware of) that a clear action plan was required to overcome each hurdle and get the best crowd we could.
Sadly I am not personally aware of much happening. There could be a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes but all I know is that I haven't been contacted by anyone about anything. Yup, I know I'm not so important such that they need to run things past me before they do anything but what I'm saying is that I haven't been asked what volunteer efforts I might be able to drum up locally to help promotions.
Social media is about all about creating an intangible "buzz" or "vibe" but right now I'm about the most excited of any twitter account in NZ about the game. Probably followed closely by the Dunedin Tourism account. But nothing remotely interested emanating from any other related accounts.
Now I discover that family tickets aren't available to be purchased online and the response wasn't one of "we'll look into it for the future" but one of "that's how it is".
And the ticket prices have been described as "dynamic", making it cheaper to buy I advance than on game day. But when you look at it, the prices are essentially a game day "surcharge" rather than a discount for buying in advance.
I don't really want to be too negative but I thought the whole point of this game was to take the game to the "regions" and "grow the game". The prices are pretty steep to be honest. I'll pay anything as you will appreciate but not everyone will.
I started out hoping (dreaming) of a 5 figure crowd. I thought that we have to at least aim for that and be happy with 7xxx if we got that. But I've revised my expectations down to 5000 at best and it could get embarrassing. No doubt if sales are poor they will bolster it with freebies or something to make it look less bad.
Do I sound depressed enough?

I have, and a number of others have, as mentioned earleir in the thread...
[QUOTE=bwtcf]A few of us are booked at Livingspace.
Which is pretty handy to both the ground and the Octogan... (see map)
Cost us $99 for a queen sized studio apartment each.
So, regarding tickets. I agree with Ahmad that the prices are hardly "Discount" but ticketdirect's website does say that they offer a 20% discount for bookings of ten tickets or more.
I am keen to make a bulk booking.
So far I think I have 6 people. (me, Adma, Craig, Dave plus his 2 scottish mates)
If we get at least 4 more, that makes 10.
I have been trying to work out how much it would cost per ticket, and the person I spoke to on the phone at Ticketdirect (0800 224 224) could not even find the event in her system and said that they are showing an Otago rugby game at ForsytheBarr Stadium that day... *rolling my eyes*
So anyway...
Ticket direct's website at: http://www.ticketdirect.co.nz/Event/Details/44605
says:
SERVICE FEES ARE INCLUDED IN TICKET PRICE... DELIVERY FEES & CREDIT CARD SURCHARGE MAY APPLY.
However when I did a dummy booking I found that what that actually means is the ticket is $28.00, to which they then add $1.50 per ticket making each ticket $19.50, and ten tickets $295.00.
Which sucked smelly pooos.
However, the website also says: Group Discount - 20% for groups of 10+(Only applies to Adult & Child tickets, in any combination). Available by calling the stadium box office on (03) 470 4455, only available until 7th December!
(Note that number is Carla's direct dial number as it turns out...)
So I spoke to the very helpful Carla at ForsytheBarr Stadium ticket office....
My calculations were:
$28.00 x 10 = $280
-20% discount $280 - $56 = $224
Plus Courier fee $6
Plus credit card merchant fee $5.50
However Carla said that Ticketdirect's website for some reason calculates it at $225.00 for ten tickets including the group discount, but her systems calculates it as $220 including the discount (for some reason).
WTF?
Anyway, if you book 10 tickets over the phone, with Carla, at the ForsytheBarr Stadium Ticket office, direct dial (03) 470 4455 it comes to:
$220 plus a $6 courier fee plus $5.50 credit card merchant fee = $231.50
= $23.15 each.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

STOP RIGHT THERE. Thank you very much.
Coming to the game? Don't buy your ticket yet please.
I'm looking into getting a block Fever booking which would secure the group booking discount.
Price TBC but I'd say around $24 max per person inclusive of all fees. Any loose change would be donated to Fever coffers.
Basically you'd pay me and I'll arrange a group booking in the Zone for everyone. Deadline would be end of the month to pay and you'd receive your ticket soon after that.
Any takers? Please indicate interest here and perhaps flick me a PM with your email address.

The inaugural Fever Zone within the Fever Zone
I've arranged for a discounted group booking for Feverites in what will become the first* "Fever Zone within the Fever Zone".
Discounted Prices (fully inclusive of all fees):
$23 for Adults
$18.50 for Students/Seniors (must show appropriate ID on entry)
$10 for Children
The seats will be in heart of the Fever Zone (Lower North Stand) in Aisle 104 if you want to refer to the following seating plan:
http://www.forsythbarrstadium.co.nz/media/15387/fbs-seating-plan-aug.pdf
Tickets in the Zone within Zone will be limited and you must make payment by Wednesday 30 November to secure your seats (tickets have allocated seating and there is no guarantee that security will allow you to move around although the crowd is unlikely to be so large that it will be a major problem).
I am co-ordinating the group booking so payment will need to be made directly to me, and I will arrange with you the best way to get you your tickets (which may possibly include running them to your hotel/motel so that they are there for you when you check in).
To get in - please PM me with your email address and how many tickets you want in each category and I will respond with my bank details for payment. A contact phone number would be good too.
Remember I need to receive payment by Wed 30 November in order to secure your booking. Please spread the word and let's make this a success
