Being a Wellington team it was probably pretty apt of us to have a bunch of hobbits as strikers.

Did Crowther do alright?  And how about Barron, Mulligan, and Costa?

Goalie didnt have a lot to do, deflected shot from Blackburn beat him in the first half.
Mulligan did alright without looking a star, just played first half - got booked for wild tackle.
Costa looked quick a few times, but didnt get much ball in the first half.
Dunno which one was Barron.
The other gingery guy did well at the back - was that this "Aaron" bloke?

Correct....

Then 2nd half was

                      Paston
Barron - Muscat - Rubbish triallist - Lochy
Party Troy - ?? - ?? - Young triallist
               Costa - Krishna

Great to see Jamie Henders get a nicely taken goal.....

Yep, Jezza was one of the middle two second half.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Nice thanks chaps, was Plodder and Lia in the mid - had a brain fade there.

Good to see Vinnie running freely again, I'm picking him to have a big season....

Well done Coach Smeeeeff!!!

I missed the game. Was this Smiths Petone reserve team who nearly beat the Nix?

They say the weather can be a great leveler, but judging by the weather today, I'm surprised it didn't just level everyone. As Smithy said, he still cant feel his face. Wind chill about -5 eh lads?

ohh ffs,  it was a training game no need to analyse the hell out of it and don't go basing the whole season on it either, the season doesn't start till August and a heap of first team regulars were sitting in the stand.

Are we missing Smeltz and Mossy?

Well done Smithy for getting a competitive team out there. The Nix started in top gear, dropped to 1st for quite a while, let the Wgtn midfield get stuck into them then stepped it up again when they went 2 1 down. Some classy things from some individuals before the rain especially the most casual 30 yard drive you'll ever see into the top corner from Daniel. Just one question, who was the #11 for Wgtn that came on in the second half up front.

Big lad?  Jamie Henders from Naenae.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Good player, he made life hard for the Nix defenders in the second half when the rain really started.

I wouldn't read anything into the game. The season is still 10 or so weeks away. The Wellington team did well but I feel sorry for all the Nix trialist. Prick of a night to try and shine.
For the Nix that game is what you call a loosner. It's like going down to the cricket nets for the first time of the year and some spotty little kid smacks you all over the place. I'm sure if you replayed last nights game 3 weeks from the start of the season it would be about 7 or 8 nil.

Was it Hearfield with the equaliser ?

I thought it was the short triallist (not Luis).
I think it was a bloke called Anthony Vine.

It doesn't surprise me that we drew. Well done to the opposition. But we didnt have many of our standout players playing.

Sh!t conditions, not full squad, not too worried...

That training strip looked the goods though, I imagine that the official strip will be like that but with black on yellow...

The other score was Anthony Villazon a 20 year old. He hit the post with the free kick and then scored the header (nice finish) from Troy's cross.

He's an Aussie - spent a season (2007) at Colo Colo and since then has been playing for Sutherland as far as I can find in the NSW Premier

its gotta be said, Krishna didn't look flash at all, made a lot of noise calling for the ball, but when he got it he didn't do much with it.

Sure its only a training game, but this is the time when the new boys to the squad play for contracts, I didn't see anything much that I'd want signed for this season.

You'll notice I've pulled my original whinge.

Partly because nightz was right that I was a bit childish to air laundry in public and partly because Eags and I have (metaphorically) kissed and made up.  He apologised, so did I.  It was all very heart warming.

He'll be there Tuesday.  Never misses a game for the Mar.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Both Prime and TV3 will likely have footage from last night on news tonight.

Be worth watching for a chuckle.
