Amazing. I didn't think there were any others who could be more inane than nufc_nz.

How wrong was that?

Kenny Cunningham, Carlos Hernandez and Paul Ifill won't be involved in tomorrow's Phoenix friendly against Auckland City due to injury.

Bugger!

Dropping like flies.

Hopefully they are just resting them to be on the safe side. On the ACFC preview of the game, Rufer wasn't listed in the squad. Who would fill in for Carlos in midfield?

Man, every time some knitting fool posts here, my motivation to watch ACFC is dented even more than by that "special" individual they have doing karaoke at half-time.

anyway...

should be a good match. the phoenix need to step it up a notch from recent weeks if they are going to hit the ground running come season start.

personally, i'm hoping that ACFC are close to the phoenix.  i would like to think that the top end of the asb prem is not too far off the a-league

then hopefully soon we can see an auckland team join the league

We can't ever have an Auckland team in the A-League, because the knitters oppose that "Australian" competition.

What an incredible fan base of ACFC. You see above they're actually trying to discourage Phoenix fans from coming to their games. It's like some religious cult or something: "We are the pure selected few / And all the rest are damned / There's room enough in Hell for you / We don't want heaven crammed". Nice talk from a club which lives by rorting charity.

Come on Doloras, can't you see this 'anti Australian league' talk is only to disguise their dissatisfaction with not being in the A League themselves. If they were in it they'd be crowing from the rooftops about the superiority of the competition. Its only a handful of knitting circle members though isn't it? Most of the ACFC people I've met seem pretty good and are football people. I used to play for OM and we used to absolutely hate Central, but funny enough had some good nights with them after very heated games.

Do ACFC fans actually think they are superior/too cool for A-League ?

Not so much "superior" to the A-League, but they think of themselves as a Kiwi team who wants no part of that Aussie crap. Even though their success has been due to a bigger influx of Spaniards than Mexico suffered in the 16th century. But yeah, these are people who wouldn't have gone to see the Kingz/Knights because it was "Aussie".

Yeah, I know the knitters aren't representative, but I am just flummoxed that they actually are trying to tell me to f&&k off and not bring my Phoenix-loving self to their games. What club actively drives away potential fans?

so much facepalm in this thread. One look at monthly trillian grants make you wonder if ACFC need that $15

Its a bit weird seeing ACFC fan saying they've "been looking forward to this game for years"

I still don't get it.

Interesting that you're jumping on Auckland at the TAB, Smithy. At those odds it seems crazy not to.

But wait, doesn't that mean we think Auckland could actually be better than us?... what's that about.

Come off the SH1 at Manukau City onto SH20 (the South-Westenr/Airport), and the last exit off that is Sandringham Road. Turn right at Mt Albert Road and Kiwitea Street will be a little ways onwards on your left.

Fuck the haters and politics, I'm going to enjoy some quality footy and Football/my liver will be the winner/loser on the day. And if ACFC don't suck then they might pick up a new fan. Really, if all ACFC fans become WPFC fans and all auckland-based WPFC fans become ACFC fans, everybody wins in a synergistic orgy of goodness.

E

Edit: that's better.
