I'd forgotten about A-League refs.

That's not good. He was terrible from the highlights I saw. Might need to pop some sedatives into Manny and Siggys drink bottles.

Glad theyve increased the bench to 5. 3 was a joke.

It should be 6 IMO

Don't know why, but my excitement levels are lower than they've ever been for a start of a A-League season.

Yep, you should be allowed to cover all your bases. Couple of defenders, couple of mids, couple of forwards, then you have good cover for whatever happens throughout the course of the game. I never understood the limit to 4 on the bench (3 outfield generally is what i meant). Maybe it had something to do with travel costs, Qantas being a sponsor or some shit. I dunno.

I was always under the impression it was purely a costs issue

pumped for the start of the season, but must admit this is the least I have been excited before a season. I think its good, I've always gone in with a lot of confidence despite always being touted as not good enough. Last season I was full of confidence, like a lot of people and look what happened. No expectations. looking forward to what ernie can bring

Ernie to sleep on it, undecided - NZ Herald

For right back, Ernie has narrowed down his options to New Zealand under-20s skipper Luke Adams or Manny Muscat,  which would prompt a midfield shuffle.

to me the gulley decision is now looking bizarre

There must be something there we're not privy to, surely

For ernie to be considering muscat who hasn't played there all pre-season... has adams played there at all prior to the gulley decision?

Gotta be Manny at RB, it makes the most sense.

Mine are higher than last year. New coach and all that.

New coach that hasn't solved any of the problems apparent last year. Guess we'll wait and see.

Don't forget to let your friends know that it's cheaper to buy your ticket on the net than at the gate. Ten bucks less even I think.

Department of keeping it real JV

I'm all for keeping it real. Lets get a game down first against big boys before we start with the doom and gloom. Maybe then we can keep it real based on that but doom and gloom based on what we did against kids and shamateur sides? I know we are short handed but lets see whats produced first.

He's done a decent job but the best he can is kind of stretching it - though have to admit the fact that it's pretty hard to attract quality imports to Welly. Definitely looking forward to seeing Carlos playing for us - just concerned about the rest of the quality in midfield and at full-back, really.

Aint doom and gloom at all - just being realistic as opposed to last year when I got a bit too hyped up about our chances.

I'm really not sure how we will go. I am curious of course and I hope that we get a result, but who knows and it's only the first game of the season. I sure hope this rain stops though.

P.S. Who's going to be captain with Dura away? Siggy? Ifill? Stein? I think I'd go for Ifill, then Siggy if he goes off.

Either Ifill or Siggy. Has historically been Siggy.

Wonder if that might change after the UAE 'incident' though?
