This a terrible advertisement.  It does not make sense.  Why would you support breast cancer...don't we wanna support breast cancer AWARENESS or a breast cancer CURE, rather than the disease itself?!?!

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.

Don't forget to let your friends know that it's cheaper to buy your ticket on the net than at the gate. Ten bucks less even I think.

Are you sure about that? $28.25 online for the cheapest, if it's even more than that it's no wonder the casual's don't want to come to a game...

Wtf? Is Ernie literally going to "sleep on who he will name to play at right back"?

What a pervert.

Was thinking the same thing. breast Cancer awareness is most important, so too is treatment, support and getting it in time. Sorry, I hate cancer of any type with a passion. It's personal to me. Suffice to say, any campaign against it or campaign in trying to make people aware of it is a good campaign.

can someone positively confirm what time the game will be according to Central European Time UTC + 1??

I will be in Liechtenstein on the weekend - and don't even get me started on how pissed off at the fact that the Liechtenstein national team is playing two qualifying games away from home in a row - so I won't be able to go watch them!! [If you think it's weird, read Charlie Connelly's "Stamping Grounds].

Anyway, according to my calculations, the game will be on at 6am (13.10.2013) - can anyone confirm this pretty please??

Right now its 4.25 pm, here in France and 3.25 am in NZ. So its 11 hours different. So when the Nix play on Sunday at 5 pm NZT it is 6 am Central European time on Sunday morning. Wot you doing in Liechtenstein? Only been there once and it was bat shiite boring.....makes Invercargill seem like Las Vegas

Merci beaucoup monsier Austin!
It's been a dream of mine for a long long time to visit the little Principality. A few years back I read "Stamping Ground" by Charlie Connelly who spent a considerable amount of time following Liechtenstein's qualification campaign to the World Cup. Needless to say they didn't make it - but I loved the book so much that I started following the team and even bought the national team's jersey!

Anyone selling a spare ticket? I now have a 14th workmate keen to come along and would love to avoid the ticketek fee if possible. The fee spreads itself out when you're buying 10 or so tickets, but for a one-off it's just exorbitant.

Ordered my first Nix shirt today - $95 from Rebel sports - I tried to buy one locally but couldn't find one in any rebel sport outlet in the Tron. Can't wait for the game tomorrow.

Squad is listed here:
http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/wellingtonphoenix/news-display/Phoenix%20Raring%20To%20Go%20In%20Season%20Opener/77064

Jacob Spoonley, James McPeake, Luke Adams, Jason Hicks, Ben Sigmund, Michael Boxall, Reece Caira, Vince Lia, Manny Muscat, Kenny Cunningham, Carlos Hernandez, Albert Riera, Paul Ifill, Tyler Boyd, Stein Huysegems, Hamish Watson.

So that will probably be:
Spoonley
Muscat      Boxall    Sigmund     Caira
            Lia          Riera
Cunningham       Hernandez       Ifill
                         Huysegems

Bench: McPeake, Adams, Hicks, Boyd, Watson

Looks like Brindell-South didn't make the cut?

I wouldn't be surprised if Adams got the go ahead at RB and Riera started on the bench.

People have been saying how depleted we are with AW's away and injuries but I reckon that the team that plays against the Roar will be quite a strong team......at least 8 would be regular starters. The only three missing would be Moss, Dura and Fenton. IMO Spoonley for Moss is not a big drop. Dura for Boxall would be an improvement. RB is a problem area and Fenton is still unproven there.

So I am expecting the boys to go well.....only downside is the bench looks very weak.

Close. Always thought Muscat would need to pair up with Lia in midfield for this game, but if Reira's had a good week in Ernie's mind, that could change.

p.s - am not expecting any points today. Brisbane are way ahead of us on prep. Our first 3 games are Ernie's transition period for me, but I expect results to pickup from game 4 or 5. Ernie's focus in last few months or so, has had to be to sort thru the kids. Signing a quality kid like Alex Rufer was easy. You only have to watch him for 5 mins and know he potentially is a big star. But sorting some of the rest would be a headache, as mental attitude on and off the field (and other aspects)  is variable with NZ youth players.

Anyway predictions

1. Slow start. Bugger all points in first 3 games.

2. Rapid improvement from game 5.

3. Finish 5 or 6, but be a real handful in playoffs.

4. Stein will be so much more effective under Ernie.

5. Cunningham and Rufer to head other star standouts.
