Finally back home and on the new turf, be interesting to see what it's like (can be worst than Suncorp). Smeltz still out as international window opens on the 4th

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

First game I'm going to miss a couple of weeks. Dam the team insisting on playing at home! Hope Watson comes in for Gui. And if he's fit, a rod for lia

You're missing the point of it being a "Travelling Circus Thread". It's name alone indicates that it can move all over the place!!

Patrick478 Are there any plans for the big banner to be used for this game?

With 4 games coming up over the next 3 weeks, I hope we can get a bit of momentum, with some strong performances, building crowd numbers & getting the Fever Zone back to full voice to give the lads the lift they should have when playing at home.

What is the likely state of the new turf? Bit loose underfoot, or not?

I hear you P R M, record lowest Hamilton crowd, Record Lowest Auckland Crowd !

Lets try to get a semi decent crowd of 7000 for this game & build on that so that we can average 9000 for January.

I'm going to go to Ticketek tomorrow to get some kids tickets printed out. If people are given a physical ticket, they are more likely to go. I shall also buy an adult "Hatrick" ticket to giveaway with 3 kids tickets to someone who wouldn't usually go to the game, but watches on TV. If 250 of us did this we could get an extra 1000 people along on the 1st & hopefully a fair few will bring their kids for the other January games!

Estimations on the crowd? My optimistic guess is 11,500 with kids coming in for free and the first match in Wellington in ages.

That's very optimistic.

My optimistic guess is 8k, realistic guess is 6k.

I think Patrick's call of 6000 is about right , but with a bit of a push we can get another 1000 along, but I hope I am proved wrong!

Jeez, that's a pretty shark crowd. Are not many people excited to have football back? Barely any parents taking advantage of the free kids promotion?

I say take a bow Mark Bosnich for saying what many in the Yellow Fever will not have the decency to admit, let alone accept

They've obviously never actually read anything posted here.

McGlinchey and A-Rod are back in the squad. Both should start as long as they last play. A-Rod for Lia and McGlinchey for Parkhouse. Midfield needs some inspiration. McGlinchey adds experience and A-Rod better distribution.

Ernie left A-Rod off the team quite a bit - was it just the injury thing?

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Sounds like someone who has spent 4 years reporting the scores of local club football suddenly being asked to do an opinion piece, yuh know, with a bit of colour:

"romantic notions" "litmus test" "correctly surmised"(used with a direct quote) "red herrings" "ram a gobstopper in the mouth" "go for the jugular" "make up the numbers" "coalface" "diatribe" "blatant fouls" "yawning gaps" "soldiering on" "country-mile" "Struck a sensitive nerve" "take a bow"

Did they get "Writing Like Chris Rattue for Dummies" for Christmas? They might have used his full bag of tricks in one article!
