A few observations
It looks like they have tried the Kiwis option of Red Bull and sleeping pills - lethargy abounds
Muscat is never ever a midfielder - he is plain awful there
Why does Caira get the ball with 30m of space in front of him, and turn backwards to come inside 20m and crowd out everyone in the middle of the park?
Here's hoping the 2nd half is way better

I think Caira is ok defensively but isn't much of a distributor and again... i'm still yet to see him cross a ball despite having always played on the left.
Reminds of Lochy - very limited but a relatively solid defender.

I keep hearing about these Carlos goals from free kicks... I'm yet to see evidence. Seems to be a curse of NZ teams, Bertos got a deflected one once... Hard to remember many more. I think Jonathan Perry got one for the Kingz once too...

This is where we really miss Riera. Not sure if he could have made any difference against Heart (because the whole team did not turn up), but here in this game our relative midfield weakness is showing.

Reminds of Lochy - very limited but a relatively solid defender.
Not fair, I saw lochy cross many balls.

Losing Riera affects almost every other part of the pitch. I think we need to gamble on someone outside the squad because I don't see a combination that's good enough for us to keep on winning within

I think the opposition teams have started to figure us out.
Mark tight, put presssure on the midfield to force turnovers and catch us on the counter...
The Nix have to keep some posession, commit numbers forward and play their way through that defence.
Hard to do though as the Mariners have plenty of players around the box.
I agree it's obvious we're missing Riera. Our midfield allows too much space yet again.

Ill be disappointed if Hutchinson and Montgomery are both on the pitch at the end. Refs given loads of fouls but missed the worst ones.
The only one who looks more like a rabbit in the headlights than the ref does is Moss.
Huysegems should have put us one up and then this game would have been different.
Unless the ref wakes up, I cant see us winning this one

Doesn't help that Boxall has also been very tentative going forward, as though the fear factor from having been thumped 5-0 is restricting them both. Ironically their goal came from Boxall getting caught upfield anyway.
Every time CCM put a long ball down the park or line up a speculator I expect them to score. It just looks inevitable we are going to lose this unless we get a bit of luck or we see a massive upswing in morale in the 2nd half.

The Lia/Muscat combo has a long history of not working and Ridenton, Hicks, and Rufer all seem to be more attacking players or at least just too young to play as aholding and distributing DM.

On Boxall getting caught out on the first goal, Lia had a chance to cover but went ball watching and allowed the receiving player to get outside of him leaving Sig to it all. Lia still had a chance to stop it in the box but because he jogged back he was 3 steps away.
