Would have Doyle over Abbas any day of the week, and Finkler needs to step up today. He's been so poor.

Fink certainly stepped up today. Was one of our best, I thought. Well done.

Strange, disjointed game - but we were very good going forward, just still very poor at the back. (though Rossi, Mullen and Fox made some good one on one challenges)

Seven goal thriller. People of Wellington, get to the RoF you lazy buggers!

man winning is way easier when you score 5 goals.

Hopefully it's the start of our winning streak that doesn't stop until 2019.

Just turned on the stream for the last ten minutes (I'm at work - we work Sundays in Iraq). I was wondering what you guys are all moaning and groaning about? We just won 5-2! Bloody awesome. Does that mean we need to give our All Whites a few more weeks off on the bench? I would have taken my shirt off except I share an office with three women. I might have got a warning or something from HR...

I'm sure someone's asked it before, but does Watson actually know the offside rule? Could see that coming from a mile away.

We'll score a lot of goals this season if we keep this up. Defending really needs some work, but it makes it quite hard having new combinations in the lineup every week.

Kaluđerović has proved a very shrewd signing. Didn't remember him being flash at the Roar, but has been up there as one of our best so far this season.

Work to do, but 5 goals and 3 points caps off a good footballing weekend.

Friendly against Estonia...

On his current form, Krishna will smash Estonia, Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia, all on his own.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I've just tuned into the game with a feeling of dread. "4:30pm" NZT, I knew that. I've lived in NSW for over twenty years and still manage to stuff it up.

Awesome the first post I saw on here was yours, with that "5-2" to us! Cheers.

Spain '82 is where it all really began for me. There were a few moments before, plenty of moments after, but that World Cup was the zeitgeist.

I'm watching the highlights now and enjoying the goals. It wasn't one of those Phoenix games I wanted to watch live anyway. I might've even switched off after that Perth opener.

If we win again next week (and certain others don't) we shoot up the table. That happens early in the season. Our trouble - in recent seasons - has been staying there.

Strangely enough, the Perth opener felt only like a minor workplace accident that would soon be patched up, rather than like a disaster or portent of things to come.

There was a very different buzz about the team and I am not sure if it was anyone in particular - like Paracki - or simply the whole team (my own feeling is that it was the whole team).

As unofficial president of the unofficial Rossi fanclub I'm going to say it was Rossi. Was at fault for a goal though. But still kept our backline organised even with the inexperience there.

Since when does VAR rule on decisions about indirect free kicks?

It didn't, the AR flagged for the passback straight away

PAX = 6,105

A little disappointing considering previous home games were 8,154 (Adelaide) and 7,018 (Brisbane)?

Awesome weekend of football! slightly surprised that there's more negative comments in this thread than positives despite winning by 3 goals. Hopefully that is the turning point of the season.

Fun times with the Fever fans!

back home tomorrow . what a weekend of footy

Couple of things, we played in our white strip because of All Whites the night before. VAR didn't call the indirect that was the AR and Fiji game isn't in the international window so will be interesting to see if we release him. Also fudge yeah we won!! First win at home since 23rd March

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Very entertaining game, and a win, so Ill settle for that today!

Gonna give some credit to Rufer and Parkhouse who did bloody well when they came on.

Otherwise, we have a lot to thank Krishna for.

As for Watto, well time to move on from that, surely we can give someone a try who might eventually do something?

Probably motivational for the team considering the heroics the night before?

Agreed. Watson has to go. All he does is run on the pitch and stands offside looking down the line. Bring back Totori.

Well done Nix in the end. Great that we improved as the game went on. Perth bossed us for most of the first half. Rossi looked poor for much of first half, but improved when Mullen came into CB. Mullen was very good I thought. Abbas bombed up and down line all day, just needs to get closer to his man when defending. Finkler looked like he as struggling first half, but had a good second half. Thank God for Roy, great performance. AK knows how to score, as does Dario.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Such inane crap here about watto.  Run was being made, pass from parkhouse was able to be made earlier, and wasn't.

That 'more negatives than positives' thing could be put down to us having the jitters. We know how low our side can sink, and how quick it can happen. A few more consistent wins and I'm sure they'll be a more consistently positive vibe.

Can't be a load of times we've scored 5 goals in a match. Beat Newcastle 5-0 back end of last season.

Outside the window. We don't have to release him. But we might.

I hope we put our foot down and refuse.
