So, basically, you hate talkback radio?

Agree but the real problem is he has many who listen to him who think all the facts he spouts are true.He also tries to belittle  people who disagree with his point of view.

Still cant get over the bullshit he was spouting about crowd figures in Auckland.Watch him jump on the bandwagon WHEN we turn things around next season.

My god, that Reason article has brought out more chit from people than I ever thought possible. 143 comments and counting... the 'soccer haters' are having a field day

Don't read it.  It just encourages him.

In fact thanks to them publishing it I have removed Stuff as the home page on all my browsers.

That's the point, well researched opinion pieces by folk who knew what they were talking about have been replaced by disgusting trollling who's sole purpose is to generate hits and comments. The hack can then say well I'm facilitating debate and look how many folk are reading this?

Unfortunately it stems from the gutter press back home. The sad thing is that if I edited Stuff I would have had him in my office to explain how this can be considered good critical writing, rather than what it is, the smearing of a well regarded man and the act of  throwing in so semi-relevant quotes about football. I really hate the way he mentions random managers, particularly Allison who most Kiwi's would have never heard of just to make him appear knowledgeable.

But I guess Stuff are happy with having no integrity.

Better would have been a retrospective of Kiwi football at all levels since the rise of the Phoenix and the influence good and bad that Herbert has had. Soory but that is journalism this was gutter-based trolling.

I stopped reading Stuff a couple of weeks ago. It's trashy in general, not just in football matters.

The modern editor is probably of the same ilk as these sad excuses for journalists. At risk of sounding like the grumpy old man that I am, the days of guys like Terry McLean being the norm rather than the exception are long over. I appreciate that looking at postings in Yellow Fever is an acceptable "source" of opinion but it is a sad excuse for journalistic excellence when its trotted out time after time as being good investigative journalism. Even Terry Maddaford has enough old school about him not to stoop that low.

Seems we're not alone in identifying it as trash...

This is an unwarranted article. No need for this. Herbert has 'charisma of poached fish' http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/opinion/8355357/Herbert-has-charisma-of-poached-fish…

Andrew Durante ?@A_Dura22

mate uve seen first hand what kinda crap gets written over here! What purpose did that article serve??Completely unnecessary!

Permalink Permalink

The purpose of the article was partly, as others said, trolling for hits; but remember, also, partly to give everyone RH has pissed off in his life (Hay, Harris etc etc) a boner. The more petty people in the world, of whom there are thousands in Auckland football, love nothing better than a good ol' fashioned grave-dance.

Stuff have closed down their dedicated football twitter, so there's another reason to only read the Herald, or possibly the ODT.

There is little to like about Radio Sport since they got rid of Miles Davis.
That's hardly a ringing endorsement either.

It's Phoenix Mark2 now. Ricki and Tony P did a great job making our club a credible outfit, but we're moving on. The combo role (AW's and Nix) was always going to get in the way once the A League stepped up, and it has. Warning signs were there with the diobolical Oceania AW's campaign, and RH and others were lucky to get away with that mess. The owners are smart. Morgan hopefully has been told to shut the uck up. Think we'll find the new coach has already been identified, and major change is on its way. RH at least has a  chance to become famous again, but needs the space to keep an eye on teams like Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica, as that away trip is a nightmare. Way above Bahrain. Thought the guys hung in well OK tonight. But are like lost soldiers in the desert.

I heard that. He obviously knows nothing about the A-League, so he should just not talk about it.

and surely if he is continuily broadcasting inaccuracies which are detrimental to the 'Nix business he should be hel accountable for that...Mega dick.

Was interested to see in this photo Montage the Pic of Ricki with Becks in 2007. (photo no 9).

6 Years in charge has really aged Ricki.

You got a mention again this morning, Smithy - "Some bloke from Yellow fever telling me everything was rosy". Brendan loves you, mate.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Why are you still listening to Telfer?

Three for me, and two for them.

It'd also be the job of a media manager to make sure this kind of thing didn't happen two days in a row...!

I never listen to Telfer's show. Never have. He's a cock. Was listening to Kent Johns on the "breakfast" show, Telfer came into the studio and they were talking about the Nix, and Telfer again went into his "doom, gloom, Kingz, Knights, I love Gareth..blah, blah" speech

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Ah, i see.

So Telfer's obsessed then?

Three for me, and two for them.

Sacking Ricki, whatever its merits for the club's future, was an absolute media disaster - it gave knobs like Telfer and Danny Hay oxygen. However, everything's been an absolute media disaster this year, so perhaps THAT's what I really want to see in 2013/14 - a media manager.

He wasn't sacked and even if he had been media hype is inevitable.

Your not wrong. Not sure why i picked it up but put it down again as soon as i saw that on their back page.Like Telfer they were quick to jump on the band wagon when things were going well but both of put far more stick into us than any positives.
