Surely it's just even more retro now?

This. Once crowd numbers are back up in a season or two and some people there don't even remember who he is, the Retro Ricki is going to be golden. Definitely pool room material.

Yay ! So happy today ! Trust me, this is good news. Sometimes you just have to throw away the stale bread.

Jesus you really are a twat. If he has gone at least show the man some respect and fucking dignity. He may not have been your cup of tea but he has done his best for the club and worked under  some very difficult circumstances over a number of years

Well said mate. Can someone ban nufc? Is a pathetic human being. Should have been handled more gracefully; more like Lawrie Mckinna at CCM. Quite obvious that Ricki has been pushed.

Strictly on a "he always seemed like a good guy" move, pretty gutted about that one.

Oh relax guys. He still has a job at the club. Just not manager.

This isn't true.

I've already answered this..... Anyway, sad for Ricki personally I agree. But this is a football club. It happens.

I'm going to have a bit more faith. This has come about due to the alarming drop in both crowds, and obviously, form. The owners had to act (I know it says resigned but seems there might be more to it) and would be ridiculously stupid to think appointing Greenacre would cause an upturn in crowds or form.

After seeing the poor crowds at the Hurricanes there is something else other than form affecting crowds in Wgtn.

Well, according to some, people were staying away in their 1000s until ricki left. So should be a great crowd tomorrow!

is greenacre really likely to produce better results though?

I would much rather it was end of season - even announce that he is stepping down at end of season so us fans can give him a propper send-off that he truly deserves

Yeah, 5 games to go. 2 more at the cake tin. Final game against Victory would have been emotional.

A very sad day, but inevitable.  If it weren't for Ricki there probably wouldn't even by a 'Nix, but recent form and results show he lost his way.  That's not unusual.  It is pretty rare for a manager to maintain that magic touch over an extended period of time.  I genuinely hope that he is kept at the club in some capacity.  Thanks for the good times though Ricki.  You have done a hell of a lot for this team, this game and this town.

Thanks Ricki. Integral part of a team that rescued professional football in New Zealand.

So this - i always suspected that Ricki would walk (under pressure) but i don't believe either of the assistants will do any better - I know a lot of people won't think we can get any worse but we can - two words: Kingz, Knights.

Ricki has been one of, if not the most important person for this club and I hope he gets the respectful farewell he deserves

There won't be any decent players left to sign if they leave it to post season. Club's are doing the deals now.

Very true. Many thanks to Ricki.

Looking forward to plenty of pathetic unsophistication under a new coach!

Really? All the players will be signed up for next season in the last 5 weeks of this season? Me thinks not.

nufc is harmless. Just young.

Well that will rule out any decent Oz coach options. They won't have anything to do with RH hovering around. Brings Neil Emblen right into it.

Not entirely pleased he'll be kept on. Clean break is better IMO.

If we fans were pathetic and unsophisticated for being frustrated about poor results, and Ricki has now gone as a result of poor results, what does that make Gareth and the Board???

;)

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Maybe Greenacre is very good coach, we don't know yet. There are examples of very good young coaches. He must have some fresh ideas, and I guess he is hungry. Interesting times.

Pretty sure "football technical advisor" is more to do with helping the board to understand the layout of the game in NZ. It'll be nothing to do with the first team I'm sure.

Probably too short notice for tomorrow night but maybe for the final game against Victory - the giant banner with "Thanks Ricki
" on it?

Also an extended chant of "Ricki Herberts Yellow Army" with everyone saying the Ricki Herbert part.

I'm not sure players are any more or less keen to sign with the 'Nix now than they were yesterday. If anything less keen until coach has been sorted?
