Heavy tackles with no one taking control. Hopefully we can put a foot on it and move them around a bit

We always seem to get this guy lumped on us.

Theyve got their press working and we are passing short and ball waiting. Gotta lift or we are going to pay

We're under the pump early on. Bit disappointing. I wonder if their high press will work out for them again today

Poor giveaway by Hughes but great recovery. Auks all over us so far.

Big workout for Rufer's knee there! Great ball win from the skip.

Gotta not get sucked into revenge fouls and try to play our game.

Come on! That is a blatant foul. Play on for a few seconds if you want but come back and give the foul.

Wheres the rest of the Auckland fans? I heard so much big talk about them having massive numbers for this game

More BS from Kersey to let Gallegos off a card first for the challenge and secondly for the dissent.

I mean it’s immense for a club in its third game an eight-hour drive away

Sheridan needs to tidy up his general passing. I noticed that it was less than satisfactory in the first half against Perth and it's continued here. Early days in his career though.

The first yellow will 100% be given to a Nix player.

We are trying to play cute sideline triangles or long balls and neither are coming off atm.

No of course mate, but I'd heard so many AFC guys shooting their mouth off about being the only full aisle in the stadium, 500+ turnout, yadda yadda

Love the commentators saying "it warms your heart to see travelling support like this" as a horde of Port supporters are flipping the bird at Yellow Fever...

Good tactical battle this but AFC have definitely got the wood over us.

We’ve had the best chance and played the best football. Think we’ve also made more errors, but nothing critical yet.

We’re not playing out as freely as we’d like. But when we do get through them we’ve got good chances.

What's our plan to move the ball into a dangerous position? We don't looks that great today

Is Conchie doing enough to be keeping al-Taay out of the side?

Not a bad game, some good tackles, some good chances and saves at both ends. Just needs goals

Hmm, interesting. Guess we’ll see! Perhaps he’s being held back to see how Rufer goes.

Haven't seen the first 2 games due to a hospital spell.
Given this is my first game of the season,  what I'm not seeing is quality long balls from Rufer and Conchie. Something that we got so used to with Rufer and Pennington last season.

What’s May doing there? He just charges into Wootton after the balls gone.

I hope both are okay, but there’s clear fault there. That’s not both competing for the ball.

Yeah pretty reckless and late. Wonder if VAR would have a look... Hope Wootton is OK, defence without him would give me the sharks

No
Unless al-Taay is not quite ready fitness-wise then we can only assume Chief prefers Conchie at the moment. For me he's done well so far this season but I like al-Taay's bit of extra physicality and composure.
