Iirc he came in mid-season to replace Kurtishi? 5 goals in 10 games wasn't a bad result & seems to have scored at a decent rate over his career. Was released from his Thai club yesterday.

Random guy on Twitter tagged me in a tweet saying that we are gonna sign a former Roar striker, he is unattached atm & better than the likes of Kurtishi & JCS (only other visa strikers I can recall them having other than Berisha)

18 clubs since 2004, but an ok scoring record
I dont remember him at Roar though

Stef Nijland? Currently with Ryan Thomas at Zwolle. Also coached by JvS. Most likely out of all former Roar strikers to me.

Seems he is returning to Serbia as his wife is pregnant, but it could be possible we are his new opportunity...

A few signs now pointing to Kaludjerovic.. Based on his 2016 season he looks like he can score a few (20 in 19 Lituanian league games).

From the video.. Takes penalties. Scored with his head from a set piece. I thought he was left footed from the highlights, but apparently hes right footed according to transfermarkt, can score off both feet anyway

5 in 10 according to wiki...that's a lot of clubs...why?

Brisbane Roar[edit]

On January 29, 2015, during the January transfer window, Brisbane Roar announced that they had acquired the services of the Serbian for the remainder of the 2014-15 A-League season, with an option to an extension at the end of the season. Kaluđerović said that it had been a desire of his to play in Australia for the Roar since he faced the club in the 2012 AFC Champions League, then with Beijing Guoan.[1] Kaluđerović scored his first goal for the club, on his début, in a 2–0 win over Central Coast Mariners FC. On May 30, 2015, Kaluderovic was released by new manager John Aloisi as his one-season contract expired.

Tongue in cheek or not, he could do at Number 9.

However, he is probably well below the skill level required in A-League nowadays.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Strikes low into the corner. Lot of beating the offside trap. Would have been a good foil for Kosta. Damn. Should work well with Gui and Dario though...Wondering why so many clubs though!

Rumors are that the new striker will be Marquee which seems to rule out someone from the Lithuanian leagues.

So long as "the Striker" is on the right side of 30 and has a minimum 1 goal to 3 games ratio, he should be a great signing.

Not good enough. We need 15 Goals a year out of him. So we are looking for better than a goal every two games

Here is a question (and I do not know the answer)

If you look over the last 5 years of the HAL and the top 5 goal scorers, would 15 goals a season put you in the the top or at the top?

I'm not so sure we *need* someone who *must* score 15 goals a game. Thats putting in some metrics that seem hard and fast without any supporting data. I would say we need to sign someone who would be in the top 5. If thats 20 goals a game, or 10 goals a game, I don't care, so long as they score enough to be in the top 5 in the league

Actually I just found a website. Here is the minimum to have made the top 5 the last 5 years

12-13: 14

13-14: 10

14-15: 11

15-16: 11

16-17: 14

So if we get a striker that gets a dozen goals across 27 games, they should be there about to the top 5.

Its not as high a bar as I thought it might be.

Edit: Roys stats

13-14 9 games 1 goal

14-15 24/9

15-16 16/6

16-17 25/12

Total: 74/28

Not too bad from a guy some thought would be a waste (myself included). We basically need another one of him.

Archie is retired, Berisha wont be coming here soon and Smeltz came back and didn't really work (and not his fault either I think)

Its a nice idea but we are going to have to discover someone like a Berisha whom comes here from nowhere and just lights up.

His issue is that he only scored frequently for half of the season for the last two years (thou will give him a pass for 15/16)

The main problem last season was that he was the only one scoring or doing anything. That's a weight.

Can you show what the leading scorer in the team that won the league scored?

12-13: CCM. McBreen 19 (Golden boot)

13-14: Roar. Berisha 13 (2nd)

14-15: Victory. Berisha 15 (2nd)

15-16: Adelaide Djite 11 (5th)

16-17: Sydney Bobo 15 (4th)

So essentially the winning team has had a goal scorer in the top 5. I go back to my previous statement that we don't need a striker that scores 15 goals a game, we just need him to finish in the top 5 (correlation does not imply causation) That top 5 number could be 10 goals, it could be 20.

If Roy does this thing and gets his average of just over 10 a season (27 games), with a top 5 goalscorer along side him, it puts us in a decent position.

Cheers Solid stats that are hard to argue against, although on 3 of the 5 years they have scored 15 or more. You are right and Probably having two in or one in and another close to the the top 5 is critical

You can't deny that if your striker scores 15 goals a game, you're going to win a lot of matches (you'd hope)!

I know a striker who scored 15 goals in a game. Randall Dobbs. For Onslow v Western Subs Wekas in a 36-0 victry on Nairnville Pk. But that was for the under-14‘s and it was a long time ago. And yes, we won a lot of games.
