Carlton Cole, come on down.

Me too, but I'm hoping not to be honest. I'd prefer someone we haven't already seen fail in the league..(5 in 10 not bad, but didn't set the league alight) Is also now a few years older and has been around the block to a bunch of average clubs since then. Would be uninspiring, to say the least.

Are we now Wellington Phoenic?
The A-League has had some good players come over from the Balkans and they are probably cheaper than players from higher profile countries tbh.

I would agree with that. As a parallel example, not all our Spanish players were consistent game-winners for us either, despite Spain being a high profile country (in football sense).
Regardless of their country of origin, well-known players past their prime are unlikely to come to the Nix. They tend to go to rich, low profile clubs (Middle East, China, etc) where the playing level is middling but payout is very good. We are more likely to be lucky to get a somewhat better than average player who is aware he won't get through to a top club in Europe but who is keen to play regularly in a decent league (and I would argue that on a good day A-League is no worse than the English second tier), possible improve his televised exposure, and who would be really happy to get paid regularly.
Such players may not last long with us (A-Rod, Roly, even Huysegem) but we always hope they will (Rossi).
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
It is not 1 striker after all. Supurb move by the club, they have signed two strikers, Bryant & May from some Swedish based club. Well done Domey.??

Are these two box to box players ?

Not to be confused with Benson & Hedges

Any idea what time the announcement made? I want to schedule some forum time in and share my excitement/apathy/anger with everyone

Piney said 10am. So what's the good goss? He's already in town so someone must know? Apparently someone that's a relatively familiar name.
If he s in town I hope he gets attacked by a crazy on Courtney Place. Its good luck!

Well, this is exciting.
The rumors as stated on here combined indicate that it is a current international European marquee who is relatively familiar.
No doubt the above sentence means I will be disappointed, but I'm forever optimistic with the Nix so I won't be.

Janko unlikely, he signed for 2 years with AC Sparta Prague back in June I recall
If it is a 'big/semi-decent' name surely the club would be making a bigger song and dance about it. I know we are slack but all I've heard about it is a sentence in a email.
If it leaked early it might lose its wow factor.. by keeping tight lipped they can help control the message from the media and use it (the signing) how they want.

I kinda like the suspense. I think in previous seasons it has been way too easy to find out who may be signing for the club. Holding carda a lot closer to their chest this year.

I like the suspense too... but what I am saying is that how many people are actually in suspense about this signing right now? Bugger all cos hardly anyone would have any clue that at 10am tomorrow we'll have a new foreign striker.
would we prefer this 'lithuainian league superstar' Kaluderovic, or the big sack of potatoes that is Carlton Cole?

Neither of the above and I don't think it will be either of the above, but someone else out of left field.
Marcus Bent?
I quite like the sound of Ranko Despotovic.

Spasojevic is a good age as we could have him for 3 years...just imagine the chant possibilities !!!
There are at least eleven "vics" in that list but the best one looks like Vojo Let-e-rip
Sorry I meant Ubiparip. You could have a lot of fun with a chant for that name.

I have a feeling you might be disappointed later on this morning.

Cole would be ok... it might draw out the two West Ham supporters in NZ to the games.
