No Central League action this weekend, so a nice pre season warm up win for the lads.

Still reckon Nathan Walker is a good shout for a scholarship contract too.

Good to see GSR on the scoresheet - for a winger, he doesn't get many goals overall does he? Maybe only has one or two even for the Reserves. If he can add more of that to his game he might come close to being a starter for us this season.

I am far more stoked at seeing Mo Al-Taay on the scoresheet.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Does anyone know if there are bars down in Dunedin were you can watch the Nix? (or potentially any Nix fans willing to do a watch party?) Going down there for Uni next year.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread I wasn't sure where else to ask

Wonder when we'll go and play some A-League level opponents.

Was at a Wellington Olympic game today and met Kosta's Uncle which was cool. Said he hadn't seen Kosta in a while so I can only assume Chiefy has kept him in a cage this off-season

He saw my Lockscreen was Kosta which was how it came up

Posted this in the Dangerous Liaisons section but gonna mention it here as well.

Air NZ has $69 flights from Welly to Auckland for the two Derby Days. Plenty of departure times available right now.

Front of shirt sponsor changed with spark being replaced by entelar who sponsored us in the Australia cup.

entelar seems to be a subsidiary of spark and is an infrastructure provider and professional services company. Interesting that they're sponsoring the nix with a business facing company rather than a consumer facing one.

The other front of shirt sponsor is still oppo.

So, even though there are changes it's still fairly consistent which is positive.

Are we still calling them home and away strips? Seems a poor descriptor based on use.

Apparently, removal of Caceres rule has been approved which means Paulsen will be able to play for Auckland FC.

Damn....I was hoping Football Australia did us a favor and embarrass Auckland FC....oh wait, they never do us any favors.

The club made a point of saying they weren’t ‘home’ and ‘away’ kits last year, but definitely referred to them as that in the article.

Maybe it’s a sign we have rejigged the contracts a bit following the feedback from fans - we have a proper home kit, and Oppo pay more to be on that one. Pure speculation here, maybe too optimistic.

Wonder if we are playing the Jets on our way to China? (assuming that agreement hasn't already fallen over)

Was thinking about this the other day - we were supposed to be playing over in China this September right? And then Tianjin play us in Welly next year

Yes.

'The Bog' is the place to go.

Bartender (big fella, long hair) is a die-hard fan, who I'm sure you would recognise from home games. Unless the AB's are playing, give him a shout and he'll sort you out.

Not gonna lie.  With the players er have signed I'm pretty amped for this season.  It's a real, who the fudge knows how they will play together kinda feeling, bit heaps to be optimistic about.

Wait are you saying he flies up for EVERY home game?

That's a very expensive commitment, but I respect it deeply lol

Uh-oh. Everyone was pessimistic about last season. This isn't a good sign.

Worst squad ever, too short, no striker, no defence, wooden spoon here we come

Have we designated a scapegoat for the season yet?

I think Retre might fit that bill. Midfielder, Australian, bit of a journeyman.

Or when in doubt just say something negative about Alex Rufer that was borderline true 4 years ago.

Payne’s probably due another round of scapegoating. We can pretend he’s holding Sheridan back, doesn’t know his best position etc etc

Chief didn't sign a tall striker, because Payne can't cross.

Might be an ouch of truth in this one. As someone else posted as a rule the Nix's crossing/dead ball delivery is poor - but looks like this season won't be much of it happening anyway.
