Let's be logical for a moment - it's not going to be the end of the world if Phoenix fans are spotted around the stadium at their home game, or vice versa for the Nix home game.

Understand why people want to sit in a designated away section with other Nix fans, but this is NZ, fans from both teams sit together all the time in pretty much every sport. There's no safety issue.

There were plenty of incidents last season with shot been thrown and abuse towards away fans from nix supporters. Add Ultra left/right away fans into the mix and it could very easily get messy.
Jesus wept, can I make it plain that T-AFC are not going to start throwing stuff except at actual fascists, should they appear? If anything, T-AFC are likely to be far less anti-Nix than The Port, if their FB discussions are anything to go by

nothing directed at you or your group Doloras, just making a general comment around extremists being a large part of any issue when it comes down to violence/abuse.

Apologies if this is the wrong thread for this but with our squad sorted I feel the one place we sort of lack is another striker, when Myer bevan walked out on Calgary and came back to Auckland I just assumed it was a done deal he had signed for them, seeing as it looks like he’s a free agent is there any way for the nix to sign him? Or can we only have the 25 1st team players on our books?
We have 18 Senior players & 5 Scholarship players currently contracted. So can add up to 5 more Senior players (salary cap depending) and up to 11 more Scholarship players.

One ugly incident from memory when VUC came to the ROF. But yeah this will be different to the rugby where crowds are passive fans

Be naive to think something couldn’t happen at either venue. Hopefully both clubs are talking to security in advance, who it seems in NZ can often be too laid back & unprepared for rival football fan shenanigans
Dont think its a case of security being to laid back sadly fact of the matter is many of them are just not up to the job they are meant to be doing. Many of them couldnt catch me on my crutches they are that out of shape or older than me.

Your right i can only recall the one bad incident last season and you couldnt say they were Nix fans.
To be honest the idea of Ultras in NZ makes me laugh and smacks of people trying to be something they arnt.
I just hope both stadiums talk to the clubs about what to expect from football fans and dont let in people either wearing balaclavas or covering their faces with scarves.

Im just hoping there is plenty of good natured banter and a relationship like we have with fans from other A League clubs.

Most of us are there to watch the football have a drink and a laugh with like minded people and nothing more.

Agree mostly, but I seem to remember some comments about that VUC game last season, where Red Badge were told there was a problem with some young Nix 'fans' sitting in the away section - but nothing was done until it was too late. Too casual, too ambivalent. May have that wrong.

Lets be brutally honest, security work doesn't attract the brightest tools from the shed - and many would have no idea about how football fans can act differently (yes far more overseas than NZ) to sitting rugby supporters. Again you's just hope the 2 clubs have a bit of a chat to Red Badge beforehand. Better to be over prepared than under.

Not to the same virulent anti football extent of many of the AFL & NRL media in Aussie, but some of the rugby heavy journos would to more than happy to report on an ugly fan incident at one of the derbies. There is enough garbage on the Auckland FC Supporters FB site, to be a little concerned at least.

Agree if he's cheap, Bevan could be a useful addition. I'd like to see him get a crack at the ALM - either Nix or Auckland FC.

I presume he'll now play National League with City. So an audition for him. If he looks a class above that level, he's in the shop window.

Your not wrong about the media i attended the Warriors game at Sky where the behaviour was down right disgraceful.
From multiple pitch invasions to bottles being launced onto the pitch some full.
Yet virtually nothing in any form of media about it. Had that been football it would be every where.

I’m honestly fed up with Red Badge at the stadium. They were quick to ruin the vibe and police people standing near the stairs during the semi-final, going as far as removing a child from the Fever zone without alerting his parent/caregiver, but didn’t take any action the one time there was an actual violent incident

Yes that's hardly a surprise. Though I do remember a Warriors game at McLean Park, Napier last year with alot of honest reporting about the poor fan behaviour.

Home game announced in Christchurch against CCM on the 25th of Jan. So stoked for this. Just because NZF likes to shaft us South Island based fans doesn't mean Phoenix have to. Hopefully can bring the daughter along for her first taste of live sporting magic!

3 year deal for ChCh.

Game 1 at the Addington scaffolding next Jan, then the following 2 seasons at the new downtown stadium, which is taking shape to be an awesome venue - ETA April 2026

Shame it hasn't worked for an ALW game down there as well for a double header. Heaps of ex Pride players in the women's team.

Think Domey was talking up the Nix in the South last time he was on the pod?

Yipe apparently they have a long standing strong relationship with Mainland Football, from memory around some charity/football NGO type thing.

It's the blinding obvious place to take games now, especially with their new exciting stadium only 18 momnths away from completion, ie the 25/26 season.

Also there does seem a bit of talk around about a ChCh A League club one day. If that talks gets louder - football will get a higher profile buzz in Canterbury.

Of course if a team does one day happen there, that likely means the end of Nix home games away from the ROF. Except like a few seasons ago, when with Sky unavailable and all other options exhausted, the Phoenix had to play at the absolute last resort dreaded Ring of Dirt.

Agree annoying that home games taken to Auckland were included but Christchurch isnt. Would be  interested to hear from the club why there are 2 levels of discounts for members  One at 15% the other 20% admittedly not a big difference just annoying they keep doing some of this rubbish.

Would hope thats not the reason shouldnt be a problem with a member allowing someone else to use their ticket if they cant attend. If your having Domey on a pod would like to see this put to him.

Just a kick in the teeth for the fans that will be traveling. I’ve emailed the club to ask why, so let’s hope they come back with something.

I'll bet you the response will say it comes down to finances, the cost of hosting a game in Chch depends on how much the club will get from community businesses or the council (if any) and then the likely income from ticket sales.

Yeah I would think it would be along those lines. Just does not fit right that unite round is covered but this one is not. Very very poor by the club

Unite round is funded by the league though (I think), so cost to the club is minimal and therefore making tickets available for your members is easy.

Which is my point, not like the club had to pay anything for unite round. Surly keep loyal fans onside and have season tickets covering all home games!

They still have to make savings wherever they can, reduced income from APL this year makes it even harder - I dont know the financial dealing with Chch but I'm pretty confident in saying the Auckland games were largely funded by the sponsors and Auckland Council, so the club didnt have to fork out for the stadium etc which made the game cost neutral for the club, so allowing fan's memberships to get them to the game didnt cost them anything. I have a feeling that given the current state of local councils' finances at the moment gaining access to Chch's brand new stadium isnt something that the club will get for free. so Money made from ticket sales will be the only way to balance that out.

Yeah but are we talking about that many making the trip. Doubt it would be in the thousands travelling down. Just seems like members being shafted yet again. Just frustrating they want people to commit then let them down with this sort of stuff and the silence we are treated to about tickets in the away zone in Auckland from both clubs.

That's a little entitled don't you think? A membership gets you access to all home games at the stadium, at a cost that works out less than if you were buying individual tickets, anything else is a bonus a gift from the club and sponsors. In previous years the club has been able to afford to add free tickets to Auckland away games and other venues when utilised. This year we have seen the money all clubs receive heavily reduced thanks to the APL, moaning about how the club has let you down for the sake of one free ticket??????

Literally the definition of entitled - "I've had something before, therefore I should get it again".
Things change, getting something once, twice, even three times doesn't mean members are entitled to it again. Or, as you seem to think, the club has shafted members buy only providing a discounted ticket. The discounts members receive are bonuses, benefits of membership - they are not guaranteed. The only thing that is guaranteed when purchasing a membership is little card you get each season to get into sky stadium for the 12/13 games.

Really explain again whats so wrong with expecting tickets for a home gane with your membership. Especually when in previous seasons you have got them.
Honestly Doloras your a great one to throw shark at how someone is posting. Find it amazing that some of you are happy to accept whatever the club does  Yes 'shafting'mave been to harsh.

Expecting it for free is the entitled bit! You buy a membership and you get what you pay for, the freebies of yester-year are not gonna happen. We all got access to the Auckland games for free as a gift for the club. The season pass you pay for only covers the games in Wellington.

Perfect example of the same thing seen rwo different ways yet you chose to say mine is entitled
You say we got access to Auckland games because it was gifted to us by the club.
I say we got those passes because the club took home games away from home. Same as when they took them to Christchurch Napier and Palmerston North and gave members tickets.
Just dont see the problem with expecting the club to explain the difference.
Also just dont see the need for people to put a label on someone just because they dare to have a different view to the one you may have. Especially true in a forum where people are behind non de plumes.
