Yes, Mel is very pleasing on the eye and she knows her footy (always highly arousing).

But I don't get what all the fuss is about really.  For me to get fully on the Mel bandwagon I'd have to imagine her saying "I really like Scholes and Giggsy-wiggsy.  I am such a bad girl for having such dirty thoughts. Please punish me!"

If she said "Daddy, I've been a naughty reporter", that might work too.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Sorry, if i've missed the comment, but are Sky not showing the No Fans Utd vs Salty Dogs match tonight?

Probably won't be playing any ways

"The club is currently waiting for instructions from FFA regarding tonight's fixture against Central Coast Mariners. Please stay posted for updates. Information will also be available via the club website once it is available. Thanks for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience."

And yet ANOTHER game that cuts straight into some Fishing show (or other) re-run as soon as the final whistle blows.

This blows Sky!!!

I passed this feedback onto the director of programming (or something like that) at Sky Sport as he appeared on Muzza Deaker's show today.

Pretty much fobbed me off and didn't understand the problem.

When games kick off on the hour or half hour, they go straight to the next show. When they kick off at x:45 they do have some post-match analysis.

Anyway I'm going to try and email this guy and explain it more clearly. Maybe in the context of a stupid radio show he didn't quite grasp that this happens ALL THE TIME, not just occasionally (he seemed to imply that it was perhaps a one-off).

Anyone have any suggestions about how to achieve this best?

Ok so before I write the email is anyone else bothered by Sky cutting away to the next scheduled program pretty much as soon as the final whistle blows in most A-League matches, often without even any replays of the goals or any match analysis?

Or is it just me?

I never listen to commentators opinions post game..especially Dewhursts.

would rather watch matt Watson haul in a 16kg snapper.

I'm with you ahmad I to would like to see a bit of after match stuff it does add a bit of interest, not to long though as it does tend to get tedious like the ones after the egg ball tests.

I agree, I hate it when they cut away immediately. I would like them to at least continue coverage until the commentary team sign off, and if we could get the post match show that Fox Sports do, that would be even better.

I get annoyed they cut away immediately.  Perhaps this is something the club can sort for next season, start games on the 15 or 45 pas the hour to get the extra time at the end of the games?

Anyway here's some contact details for you Ahmad.

Thanks George, managed to get the details of someone supposedly quite high up so I will try that initially and post any results here.

If anyone had anything to add please post here and I'll incorporate it in my letter?

Apparently Fishing is NZ's number 1 summer "sport" and so they feel it important to show the Fishing Show. Also they like to start shows on the hour/half hour - apparently people already tuned into other shows that started on the hour are less likely to switch over to a show that they start at x:10 or x:15, etc.

Do they have a show on the merits of soft bait vs mussel, squid, mackeral, pilchards for fishing off wharves in Wgtn harbour? If so I would consider a sky sub.

And I thought Cricket was our number one summer sport.

Win-win proposal #1: I can do a shorter TV show than the current fishing one. Running title: "Pretty Eyes Brown's Extreme Spotty Fishing. With Pretty Eyes Brown"

This shorter show will allow a longer post-match segment on the footy and the fishing punters will still see lots of amazing footage of fish being reeled in from exotic locations such as Miramar, Petone and Queen's Wharf. Quite possibly jelly fish and the odd little blue penguin too.

I suspect the RNZSPCA will indeed find these developments disturbing.

Dear Sky TV,

I am one of a growing number of new fans of football, and as such appreciate having a little post-match discussion/analysis after watching an A-League game, in particular the Wellington Phoenix matches.

Unfortunately when Sky A-League broadcasts kick-off on the hour or half-hour, the final whistle blows very close to the hour/half-hour, and this means that the broadcast wraps up almost immediately, which is extremely frustrating because there is not even a replay of the goals, or any interviews with any of the teams. If the same thing was to happen with Rugby coverage I know there would be an uproar.

Some games based in Australia commence coverage at 15 minute to the hour, which in my experience has meant that there has been at least 5-10 minutes of post-match broadcast following the game. Unfortunately all of the Phoenix home games this season have started either on the hour or half-hour.

I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter for me because I know it upsets a lot of other Phoenix fans as well. If this is a matter of scheduling, then perhaps this is something that you, the Wellington Phoenix, and the A-League/FFA could look at for next season when it comes to deciding kick-off times?

Kind regards,
Ahmad

Hi Ahmad,

Thanks very much for taking the time to follow up with me.

As I mentioned on the radio the circumstance you mentioned can occur when we are running tight between a game finishing here in NZ and another event starting in Australia.

We do attempt to work with the various codes on start times and they are largely sympathetic to our requests. We also find that because the various match durations vary greatly that even with the best planning in the world the variability in duration means that from time to time we get caught out.

Wherever possible we want our programmes to finish at a natural break and to make the next important junction point for viewers. There are times when we wish the chat could last a little longer to get us to the next junction !

I will take a look at the schedule for the rest of the season and see if there are any further opportunities to extend the review part of the A League coverage.

Thanks again for making contact and I hope we get to watch the Phoenix in this years Grand Final.

Regards
Sky TV

Yes - last night the Sky broadcast cut off at this point - "Final score, Sydney FC 2..." <CUT>. Was very shoddy and unprofessional to not even get the "Newcastle 5" out before cutting off!!

With Sky TV pushing iSky, in the future i wonder if they will be able to offer 'Season Pass' subscriptions to the A-League games online. When the new TV deal is signed, it will be interesting if anyone picks up the online streaming rights to the A-League.

Seems odd, wouldn't think NZF are in a position profile wise where they can afford the game to be delayed.
