What do you base that on James Dean?

From the missed chances he had in the 1st game I would disagree and would back that up with his low conversion rate from thoughout his career. He has some talent but as a striker if you you cant finish you sit on the bench or move on which is what he's done previously.

My thoughts would be, with Ifill to slot back into the starting lineup when he's fit Stein will be the one to make way for him.

If not who do you think will be droped for Ifill?

1.  Different standard - he'll get more chances and he's just better quality than others in the league, I think he'll score more than he has done previous because of that alone ignoring the change from bit part player to regular starter. See Ifill, P for previous example

2.  I think everyone has gone completely over the top in praise for his first match.  I thought he was ok, no more.  I think he scored the goal, missed a couple of chances, generally a quiet second half.  6/10

3.  Not convinced by Brockie personally, back to goal I wasn't convinced.  So depends on our formation but I don't think he's 100% starter

In the 1st half, I was most impressed by the defensive work of Stein & Brockie. Sydney were trying to work it out from the back, cause that's the cool thing to do these days, and those two were running at their backs constantly giving them no space to move, and forcing quite a few mistakes. 2nd half, particularly after the 2nd goal it loosened up a bit though.

Thanks for that reply James Dean.

Should have got a Dutch striker IMO anyway ha.

Amused by the 'Heinekens' nickname though as he wouldn't be too chuffed with that one given the Belgian/Dutch beer rivalry thing.

Cheers. Although you need to keep the Stein before Heinekens for it to truly have an impact

This guy...so relaxed when taking a shot at goal...He had time to have a Cooper's before he place that ball in the back of the net against Adelaide.

Well there is room in the Greenacre - Diddy - Ifill sandwich

love this guy, such a quality finisher

the commentators didnt say much about it but what a touch to bring that ball down to even allow the composed finish

I'd expect that in big european leagues but at a-league level there's not many who could make it look so easy to bring down and put at your feet in one touch

I think he is exactly the player we needed, so credit must go to Ricki and Welnix for taking their time in finding him. He doesn't create goals, but we have so much other attacking talent in the team that we don't need him to. But if you give him a chance on goal, he will bury it.

He does tend to go missing in matches sometimes, but the other great strikers in the A-League (Berisha, Heskey and co) do exactly the same, don't have any influence on the game but pop up and score goals when given a chance.

He's quality. If only he could head. Huge respect for him, seems to love being apart of the squad.

We had a difficult time of involving him in the game in both away games so far, and don't think that's down to Huysegems. He and Ifill could potentially be a very explosive combo in this league.

If we create more chances with the ball on the deck, this guy could score a lot of goals.

3 in 4 is a freaking awesome way to kickoff the league!
Also the runs he has been making have been class - beating offside traps with ease

think we need to make sure he gets enough service (to feet). I'm wondering whether Ifill would be a better partner with him up front and push Brox back to the wing?

But hasn't Ifill been the one providing the perfectly timed passes for the perfectly timed runs?

Also probably worth noting that he's not being caught offside at times that Greenacre probably would have.

When will he be a 90 minute player?

Getting frustrated with him being subbed all the time. He looks pretty fit now to me.

took a knock against victree so probably just being cautious. I would also hop eto see him and fenton getting 90 mins most games as they seem to do the most damage atm

I think hes playing pretty well. Has good close control and vision.

Generally, his finishing looks good. Only thing he did wrong on Sunday was blaze the right foot shot over the bar.

Every time he gets the ball in the box, it just feels like he is going to score. Was very surprised he stuffed that shot up so badly.

Weaker foot.  Kinda a shame the ball didn't go to Ifill instead

I have been impressed by him, nice tight ball control and makes some good passes.

Looks to be getting a little quicker too.

Defo a little one footed though.

From TV he does look laboured and for a tall man he is pants in the air...

Once he and another player gets match fit, my first imporession might improve.

IMO we should be trying to shape our team/strategy around his attributes rather than expect things of him he may not be able to do. We've seen what he's good at now. Just because he's big doesn't mean we should swing in cross after cross - and I know that's basically all we know but IMO we need more triangle play with ball to feet. I think SH would kill it in HAL teams with more of a tendency to do that.

We really need to work out how to play him in a 4-3-3 like we played tonight. With Smith just behind the striker providing the flick ons & holding the ball it, it removes the need for Waffles to do it. Could move Brockie out to the wing, and put Fenton on the bench.

Actually we were more a 4-1-4-1.  Brockie was up there by himself a lot in that game.

Disagree, Lia was deeper with Manny, just he didnt have much presence.
Ifill & Brockie swapped places a few times

Well Ricki's 4-3-3's do end up looking like 4-5-1's. We did end last season saying we were playing a 4-1-4-1, and if that is what we played tonight we should keep it.

My point is that if we can play Smith behind the striker, I think it would fix the problems with Waffles being impotent in the air.

Well I never recall us having 3 up top.  Was shifting between 4-1-4-1 and 4-2-3-1.  Either way the extra man in the centre of the park certainly helped us. Zadkovic was invisible until the second half, and even then I don't remember him making a pass.
