That's what you get when you are owned by a property developer.
But that's the real issue, isn't it? Only a dodgy property developer could have put up the $$$ to get the Nix off the ground. Only a dodgy property developer would have wanted to. And all dodgy property developers are feeling the heat in the current climate. If only we had a respectable multi-millionaire who wanted to be a sugar daddy for a football team in Wellington. Like that nice Allan Hubbard.
But seriously, you see some of the comments on the right-wing blogs etc. and they are basically saying that they want Terry to go down because he's "unspeakably vulgar". I don't know whether that's racism or just snobbery, but the fact remains that - while there isn't a movement that wants to destroy the Nix, outside a few loudmouths at Kiwitea Street - there is one that wants to destroy Terry and are happy to lose the Nix as collateral damage.
There's a third argument to be made that the A-League model which requires millionaires, dodgy or otherwise, to fund teams is showing signs of being unsustainable, in Wellington and pretty much everywhere else, but that's another issue.
