Terry and his money (aka gone...or not..)

From the WGA Website ...
"1. What is the minimum amount that can be borrowed?

The loan amount can be as low as USD 25 million and as high as half a billion USD. This is purely an indicator and not a rigid scale; loan amounts would be judged on case-to-case basis."

OK, let's not mess about with the minimum then.

I like the idea of Racing Santander as our feeder club as well.

I know, I know, its serious!

Wernt we told recently that this crap had been sorted and there was no need to worry about, there was also no need to think about selling off part of the club to get some new partners in as it was all sorted.Seems some have forgotton just what porkies they have told to who
Starting to get bloody worried as its been hanging around for a while with seemingly little or no apparent change.

So who fronted up the money for the flood relief tickets or are they on the never never plan as well.

No.  The Herald said they had a plan to resolve it.  There is a plan - in Switzerland.  The IRD are still legally required to follow their provcess even if there is a potential resolution.

I don't see any lies.

This is very concerning. If I was a foreign player looking at playing in the a league I would be looking at anywhere but the Phoenix and north queens land. These Swiss bankers really need to come to the party. I'm not holding my breath however. Obviously no one is willing to touch Terry in NZ

Wow. It amazes me how many people are prepared to believe media beat-ups. HN is saying nothing but the unvarnished facts, but I suppose it's more fun to believe media lies and insinuations. Which is of course how media people make their money.

Also - did you know the word "gullible" is written on the ceiling?

One thing was written earlier in the week that things were looking up and were going to be an exciting announcement thatll sort the future of the club. A few days later we're doomed.

It seems like a last minute dig before the news comes in. And to make whatever deal Terry is sorting seem dodgy as f**k.

But then I may be reading too deep into it there. Who knows.

I heard that money-wise there is a lot worse news coming.  I hope it's rubbish but the woman who told me is a lawyer who knows her stuff and has been involved, probably not meant to have told me which is why I am being so vague.  Said he'll have no chance with the Swiss bankers.  Still, everyone makes mistakes and I hope this lady is making one in this case.

It's weird where you hear people talking about Terry at the moment. Two random blokes talking about the situation at a coffee shop I went to yesterday.

I think just tells us we should stop buying/reading the Doom Post.

you do realise that most of the a-league teams are in financial strife, at a guess I would say only two would be making a profit - victory and maybe Sydney..

We are an Optimistic bunch of supporters..

In business there are two items you always  make sure you pay, Wages and Taxes.
You never ever miss a PAYE payment, the interest and penalties are crippling.Technically it is not the Companies money as it is a deduction from an individual's wages.

That's what you get when you are owned by a property developer.

But that's the real issue, isn't it? Only a dodgy property developer could have put up the $$$ to get the Nix off the ground. Only a dodgy property developer would have wanted to. And all dodgy property developers are feeling the heat in the current climate. If only we had a respectable multi-millionaire who wanted to be a sugar daddy for a football team in Wellington. Like that nice Allan Hubbard.

But seriously, you see some of the comments on the right-wing blogs etc. and they are basically saying that they want Terry to go down because he's "unspeakably vulgar". I don't know whether that's racism or just snobbery, but the fact remains that - while there isn't a movement that wants to destroy the Nix, outside a few loudmouths at Kiwitea Street - there is one that wants to destroy Terry and are happy to lose the Nix as collateral damage.

There's a third argument to be made that the A-League model which requires millionaires, dodgy or otherwise, to fund teams is showing signs of being unsustainable, in Wellington and pretty much everywhere else, but that's another issue.

I thought the advertisements for the liquidation were meant to be in the paper today? I just had a very quick skim over the public notices and couldn't see them?

Unless the Dom Post has decided it was so important it put it on their front page.

On a lighter and more cheerful note..

I was told yesterday by a reputable source (but I will be vague) that Terry has paid all monies owed to Council.

So you'd go to Brisbane who are biffing a million a year and whose owners want to bail out AucklandPhoenix?  How about Gold Coast where Clive threatens to quit once a month?

Perth, where Tony Sage is having an audit as to whether he wants to geep puring money in?

No club is immune to this, to say you'd avoid us because of potential risk means you'd have to rule out half the teams in the league currently, and it's only in the last 3 or 4 months that Newcastle and Adelaide have stopped being on the list as well.

Hopefully the new TV deal is enough for the FFA to cover at whole of the salary cap. If they can get at least that clubs should become a whole lot more sustainable. In the mean time, clubs are going to struggle to break even. Even the Roar are in the hole after selling Oar, Zullo and Zambrota.

The Roar got less than 1000 to last nights game as well.

It was NQF v BR midweek at Skilled Park though. Possibly the worst pitch yet the most used in the A-League.

That's not their fault, they were playing at Skilled Park, the "Valley of the Tombs" of Australian football.

No ... I couldnt see them either .. I actually wondered if IRD was highly annoyed with the Dom Post by turning what is supposed to be a contractual arrangement for paid advertising into a news story. This is not uncommon but usually the news outlet waits til the day of publication before saying something along the lines of  'In advertisements in today's paper ...'

If I was the IRD, I would not be particularly happythat this was done ahead of actual publication.

If you look at the page where I suspect they would have gone, there is a very large  Advertising Terms and Conditions and then a filler ad underneath. I think that is where the ads were supposed to be.

On the other hand, there are quite a few other IRD notices of a similar nature so perhaps there simply wasn't enough room and we'll see a block booking tomorrow ...

Hmm.  Being a bit of a right-wing bigot myself I went to Slater's site (first time actually).  Can't say I saw a lot of postings to his rants but boy he has a huge dislike for our Terry.
