ironic? perhaps its equally as odd how anti and judgemental some have gotten towards one group of people ie hipsters. I am not your stereotypical hipster ie bearded, but would place myself there as far as style is concerned and my enjoyment of good craft beer with good food. Like most on here I have been around since start up and back the team a passionately as the so called "elite".

Frankly, I'm getting a little bored of the personal judgements being made across the board - its pointless and achieves nothing but more aimless angst.

Pot meet kettle.

Your last post was "why would anyone want to set foot in a bar that served Tui, it was, never and will never be a "good" beer."

The whole point is that people drink what they like. Just leave it at that.

I like the good things in life too, but try not to sneer at those who like something different

Yep, it's ironic how those who denigrate others for being sensitive are themselves very sensitive just about different things.

Although I personally don't see what the big deal is. Taste, after all, is subjective. Unfortunately I doubt we're debating taste.

if it was just taste we were "debating" then no one would be getting upset. Some like the taste of the run of the mill Tui, Speights DB etc, others not so much.  Personally I consider these beers as poor quality with no effort made to make them taste like anything other than sweet beerish beverages. The beer market has changed dramatically since Tui and Speights were common place in Wellington bar - personally, I feel this is a good thing.

Was just about to type this too Hatter. Back on topic. I'm still trying to decipher the "I'm with Patrick on this one" comment. Patrick hasn't said too much which is his choice. He still has an open invitation along with the rest of you.

Tbf Doloras, I reckon you've got the legs on Dura, Rossi would be out of position, Galloway would be buying a bag of chips and Fox would be wondring where everyone else is.

Tando, however, would absolutely muller you.

how many people who are protesting the last game of the season being moved to auckland are also supporting the game being in auckland by travelling to the said game? not a dig at anyone just interested. people are free to do what they feel is right and i understand people wanting to support the players by being at the game in auckland even if they are not happy with the game being in auckland.

personally i will not travel to home away games because i think the wellington phoenix home games should be in wellington, i do understand that some games are going to be moved for financial reasons but i still do not like it happening so will not support them by travelling to them.

I believe this Saturday will be game 197. I stand to be corrected. I was OK with this one game but not with the last minute change for our very last game. Warriors winning will give them a decent gate. Might affect ours. I'm picking 6k at most after another 4-1 loss

Far! Far! Away! To Mt Smart    or  Not so Far Away! To Mt Smart

Last night I heard David Dome singing this song

Woke up this morning and your crowd was gone

The Protest is On ! 10th minute, Aisle 10 !!

4,600. Probably a couple of hundred up from Wellington. Pathetic attendance. Considering there was a tournament on up there for U17's (?) one would have thought more would have come along. But seeing 3 sides of a ground completely empty and everyone crammed in to an area to make it look like a "big" attendance, has to be close to fraud.

We wont get the game moved back but a point will be made and when 3,000 show up at the last game it will be vindicated.

At this stage it is unlikely I will be able to make the game at all.

Play nice. All protests need people to attend and my invite is to everyone. Even those whom may not agree with me or it.

Fair enough LG. It was a dig at Patrick's lack of drumming ability rather than at what you're trying to achieve.

Bump for those who want to get involved this weekend.

Lonegunmen wrote:

I propose that fans should go to their normal spot at kick off. After ten minutes those whom agree with this course of action should leave their regular spot and move to a new one - the area in about aisle 10 and below the TV cameras. The reason for this is the lack of coverage there and the empty area where the cameras do see, just might let the owners know that fans are not happy with their decision.

You wont be leaving the stadium, you wont be missing the game, you will still be able to cheer the team on. In fact over on that side of the ground a large vocal crowd is easily heard by the players etc on the bench as well as on the field. It could end up being a positive move. Who knows/

Sky UK's latest move of Toon away fixtures.

Just to show that other leagues have fixtures moved at short notice without much thought for the supporter. at least it was done by a broadcaster not the home club, but still offers little comfort to away fans.

Premier League:Everton (a) fallout - moved from Sat 3:00pm 21 April to Mon 8pm 23 April

Complaints to Sky Sports about their decision to move Newcastle's visit to Everton next month from a 3pm Saturday to an 8pm Monday slot resulted in this lazy, patronising, uninformative and misleading reply - it's debatable whether the lackey responsible for sending it even knew the game in question was in the PL:

"I'm sorry that the change of date to Everton v Newcastle has disrupted your travel plans.

"As you can imagine, selecting fixtures is a very complex process with many factors determining what games can and can't be shown. And we work extremely hard to consider the implications for supporters when games are selected for broadcast.

"When it comes to selecting live matches on Sky we've worked closely with the League, football clubs and local authorities for 25 years with the aim of keeping disruptions to a minimum.

"Sky Sports shows 127 Football League (126 Premier League) matches in the current contract and we work with the competition owners to select matches for live coverage within dedicated slots (Friday 7.30pm, Saturday 5.30pm, Sunday 12.00).

"Matches are selected as far in advance as possible but due to the complexity of the football calendar - with several competitions to play - scheduling matches is always subject to change.

"We sympathise for the situation and apologize for the inconvinience (sic) caused."

"Viewer relations"

PS: Another consequence of Sky altering our trip to Goodison at such short notice is disruption to the annual gathering of US-based Magpies, always planned to include watching our game live on TV - with a Saturday 3pm game fitting the bill.

Following previous get-togethers in New York and Dallas, the 2018 event was organised in Chicago and set for April 21st once UK live TV listings were known (the original intended date of April 14th was scrapped when the Arsenal match was moved to the Sunday).

And just as the Everton change to a Monday night created issues of pre-booked transport and hotel accommodation for UK fans (not to mention work commitments) a good number of stateside Toon followers are now in exactly the same situation

There were 8 known to be there but allegedly on the Facebook page a few others also sat in that area too. I wish they'd made themselves known. Still it was bigger than three and even Ross Aloisi acknowledging a cry to advance his CV to the Nix was cool. Nix players, subs and coaches heard us cheering the team on. Protest made, conscience clear and the Nix got our support on the field. My own thanks to those whom stood up to be counted. Each of you get respect for standing up for yourselves and others. Those whom via Facebook wished us well - Thanks too. I believe there were about 36 responses. Only one negative person out of the whole lot.

I should say though, I've never seen the zone that empty. Not because of us of course but just the drop in numbers. It used to be packed and now if you bunched everyone up it would take about the 3rd of the bay only. I don't know why this is as it is one of the main stays of the club. I sincerely hope next season we/they come back in numbers. The club doesn't just need them, they deserve them for year 12.

Could be because we've been shark for most of four years and have been playing worse this season (up until the last two games) than most of the time during that four years.

Just maybe.

And because we're struggling to see the club sort it out any time soon.

Having said that, I've enjoyed the last two games.

Plus if the kid factory continues producing a few A league standard players every year or two from now on and we get international windows, then Welnix's plan may indeed start to deliver.
