A-Rod, Ljujic and Paracki look like superstars compared to who we've now got and how we're thinking about getting.

If we are giving this guy trial why haven't we trialled one of the spaniards at Auckland city or even someone like Mario Barcia

We have not seen this lad play and he is only on trial.  Yet we seem to be dismissing him out of hand.

Because we're trialling a Spanish guy we suddenly have to give trials to every other Spaniard??

Also, we do not know (and never will know) the players we have offered trials to or even contracts to, that have turned us down

Very decent pedigree. The 2nd team at Real Madrid. Playing for some decent teams in the Segunda Division, in Sporting Gijon and Almeria.

More impressive playing history than Albert Riera, and he turned out useful.

Picks up a lot of yellows from playing record. No nonsense type perhaps.

Recovery from achilles injury is big question mark - is he match fit, 4 weeks before season start.

Guess the question is: "why is he down here trialing for the worst team in the A-League?"

I don't think it is a highlight video, it looks like a video you buy to get a overall picture of a player and the decide if he fits.

Some interesting comments from the World Game Live. Apparently Samuel Eto'o was propositioned by the Wellington Phoenix but the FFA don't classify him as a "Class A marquee" so wouldn't match dollar for dollar to fund him. #aleague

Well that was painful to watch. Honest, every-touch, warts and all video.

Mandi looks like a fast, fit, strong aggressive player, touch iffy, with not much vision, creativity or passing ability in evidence. Goes in hard and fast, and tries to get the ball and as much of the man as the ref will allow. Beaten fairly often (partly because he goes in hard and fast) but recovers quickly. Makes errors. Decent in the air. Gets rid of the ball quickly when he gets it; his short passes were OK, long ones didn't seem to work out.

Very hard worker, gets back fast and goes-to. Harassing the player on the ball seems to be his main talent.

Mixed bag - not my type of player but could be quite effective, and likely to be a really unpleasant opponent. Could come out of his shell in the A league.

Must have some ability - you don't play for Real Madrid B without it...

In general haven't players from the 2nd Div in spain that have come to the A League done well, hope this is another case.

In other words, a really effective player for any other A-League team but likely to spend some time in the stands if he signs with the Nix ...
