Good to know we have an avid watcher of Real Madrid B in our midst

I assume you're not aware of the hilarious contradiction in your comment :-)

If we sign Mandy that means we go without an import striker right? At least until Roy's citizenship comes through, if it ever does. Not sure how I feel about that but possibly the right move if the alternative is Byung-Soo

This is such a miserable bunch.

Yeah players matter, but it's much more about how the team works together as a whole.

Hell we could win the whole league with how our squad is currently looking. Or we could sign 5 amazing players and still win the spoon.

When the Martins news broke, it was mentioned we were trying to sign him on a Guest Contract. A Guest Contract is outside the 5 Visa Player restrictions, so I think that is why we have suddenly started chasing these big names. We can bring them in for 14 games until Krishna's citizenship is sorted and we can sign them to the roster during the January window. Otherwise we can only get a DM or a Striker with the one remaining visa spot.

RR - Good theory.

Also a guest player at the start of the year can't hurt membership and would give us a kick start for attendance.

We lack a central striker, so it will be interesting to see who lines up in that role. I'm anticipating Williams, although it might be Krishna

Talk of false 9s?

With the players we have, that would make sense but we don't seem to have been playing that in pre-season.

Played false nines in the earliest pre-season games and then again in the FFA Cup.

Sorry, I should have said recently. Since the FFA Cup it has been a 3-4-3 formation.

Can someone explain how the foreign player slots work? Is it 4 foreigners + 1 Asia player?

That proposed change was scrapped, it is still currently 5 foreigners.

there have been plenty of times when a squad of "ok" players has performed well above expectations simply by playing well together. If Rudan has this squad playing together to their strengths then we could do well. If he doesn't then 10th is on the cards.

Queenslander 3x a year.

I remember writing off WSW in their first season; the majority of the squad were cast-offs from other A-League teams. They ended up doing pretty ok that season!

I'm pretty sure the same guy has also coached at least one other team and was not so succesful. So maybe a bit of a surprise.

Most of these 'cast offs' they signed were former Socceroos, they weren't state league level players people make them out to be.

WSW were a pet project of Frank Lowy. There were noises about "uneven playing field" from other clubs at that time and they were not talking about the condition of the pitch.

I'm hearing rumours of no ADJ and no Tratt - going with a Aussie State league striker and Fenton.

Come the 12th October he qualifies for a Mature Aged Rookie slot, so if we don't pick him up I am sure someone else will.

No Tratt?!? That's it, I'm #RudanOut now. That guy was solid for us.

Assuming that's true, I doubt it's because of his football ability.

Or its a sign we are playing with wingbacks and he doesn't really fit into a 3-5-2 (or similar) system.

We're going to have to go on some epic losing streaks before Hudson comparisons are fair.

Tratt was always solid but kinda overrated on here; perhaps he's lost a bit after his time out of the game too. Who knows.

We need more than two players right? Mandi Moosecat?

Need to sign a minimum of 4, one has to be an u20.

Well, it the rumours of Tuiloma being released are true, I wonder if its because we have come calling offering him a spot with an indication he is a likely starter from day one?

Tratt was looking at property a couple weeks ago wasn't he?? Would cost little and surely would add to our depth, considering we lack it.

Tuiloma in a back three?

Gotta remember Boxall came to us from a starting berth, so there are no gurantees, though he has been playing some MLS. While we're looking stateside hows Moose-a? Not in the frame?

Yup... playing maybe a little more advanced than the other two... or if the spanish trialist doesn't work he is another DM option.
