Darije was funny in that what he said post -game always made a lot of sense, and he went really in depth with it and obviously had a good football brain. It really was impressive, until we kept losing. The problem seemed to be in his man management, which in football seems to be 2/3rds of the job.

I wouldn't mind if we used all of the rest of the import spots on midfield, to be honest. Maybe 2 mids, 1 striker.

Got to be positive, he's coming from a renowned Polish club in Legia Warsaw - Been with them since age 8/9, and progressed through to their first team setup, so someone has obviously seen something in this guy.

You don't often get to spend your whole career from a young age right up to your mid twenties at the same club - if you're not good enough you'll usually get moved on earlier in the piece, so I'm going to take that as he's got something he can offer us. Whether that makes him a hidden gem for us, well only time will tell. I'm hoping he's an upgrade on Goran Paracki - Technical, good read on the game and can pull the strings in midfield. Should be used to the physical stuff coming from Poland so that can't be a bad thing either.

Parkhouse was pretty clueless at this level but tore it up at a lower level in the NPL. He’re hoping the same concept applies here

I think the apt comparison would be Roly rather than Parkhouse. Roly could have been - arguably - an A-League top star while he was an OK player in Europe. Here's hoping our Polish signing sees himself as part of the team rather than expecting the team to work around him.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

playing parkhouse on the right did not endear me to his understanding of football

I would be more confident in what we are getting if he had at least made some of the Polish age group sides but he hasn't. It is only a loan, so Legia obviously still rate him highly enough to not just let him go for free.

Rudan must also rate him or else it's just a punt?

Rudan said he would only bring in visas if he thought they were better than others in the position in the AL, mentioning O'Neill and Brillante in the DM role. So if he is true to his word and Kopy lives up to expectations, he should be a good signing.

Yeah, I see your point. I don't know much about the guy to be fair. Can't say I pay all that much attention to the Ekstraklasa or football in Poland in general. Gotta be positive though, and I'd like to think he's exactly the type of player I mentioned in my previous post. Also just going to put it out there, but so far very good practical signings made by Rudan.

Imports are always a bigger punt.

Rudan could look at a few of the West’s players. I know there’s drama with Declan but some of those guys would be a good shout

Rudan's using Fenton in Fenton's preferred position, attacking mid.

Thought he looked OK when fit, back in 2016, good touch.

It would be a great comeback story if Fenton can pull it off. Can't fault his attitude. Most of us would have thrown in the towel after his run of injuries, especially those shoulders of his which kept dislocating. Good luck to him, and good on Rudan for giving him a chance to show what he can do.

Gotta assume its Butters, Tratt or one of the trialists. Would be nice if they have slipped a visa striker into Welly without any leaks tho

The way he became the go-to firefighter for when there was a glaring gap somewhere in the squad also speaks to how good his attitude has been. One of the unluckiest players I've seen, given how ever since Ernie trusted him to cover at the back everything has worked against him.

It won't be Tratt and we wouldn't be holding a press conference to announce a trialist

Really hope it's another import, cm or striker. Maybe would be cool if it was supplimented by the signings of a few of the trialists

A Polish guy pronounces Michal Kopczynski

The 'y' is tricky, like a Russian yeri.

Actually it is easier than you think. The "y" is the same sound that Kiwis make for "i" when pronouncing "fish" or "milk".

Does not compare to the Aussie pronounciation of fish or milk (where the "i" sound is like last vowel in "Kopczyński")

What tends to be less obvious for English speakers is the "ń" which indicates a soft sound, identical to Spanish ñ in "mañana" ("tomorrow") or to the sound nh in Portuguese as in "manha" ("morning").
