no main striker is a real worry.  Youve got Bulut Babalj and Djite all free agents right now, all proven scorers in the A league.  surely the club isnt dumb enough to not pursue.  imagine getting djite having him alongside burns.  would be like old adelaide days for them.

Bulut!? Didn't someone here a while ago bring up the fact that there's an unspoken 'no dickheads' policy at the Nix?

That went out the window when we signed Nicholls

Crap I forgot we had him too.

Give him a break, he is changed man. We gave him his last chance, he'll pay us back.

MV formation was probably 5-3-2 (or 3-5-2 if the wingbacks are called wide midfielders), and it seemed to work.

This should suit Fenton and Cacace, allowing them to get forward more freely, with cover from the three centre backs and DM(s). Also allows Krishna and Williams to play more centrally.

The seven backs might have impressed Rudan enough in recent weeks that he's decided to 'spend' his last four signings on midfielders and forwards.

5-3-2 looks like a good formation for the players the Nix have.

Probably an extremely long shot, but could we throw some money at Apostolos Giannou?

Been out of the Australian squad for yonks and playing in Cyprus atm. Contracted for a few more years, but I'm sure if he wanted to put his hand up ahead of the 2019 Asian Cup, he wouldn't get a better opportunity than playing in front of Arnie.

Best of all, wouldn't take up a visa spot

We was until he injured his knee before the Rapa game.

But he’s back playing for Auckland according to the Auckland City thing

Hard to know if the anxiety over signings should be building up towards some nice surprises, or diminishing towards some hohum resolution. Give us a sign Domey / Piney!

Looks like he was in the squad for the latest Sydney game. (Not sure if he got game time) So he is still in the mix to get a contract.

Elliot is the only u20 trailing with the squad, he is almost certain to be our 3rd one.

So a bare minimum of 4 signings. Probably Elliot, Either Mandi or Yoo, who the hell is going to fill the last two spots?

So they need to sign a minimum of 3. I'm picking. Mandi, Burgess and Elliot

Seeing it on the website really hits home how small the squad is currently. Also see a couple of players have had their numbers changed. Cacace now #13 and Burnsy has taken back the #9 jersey, hopefully being reunited with his old number can spark his old form again

Smith was meant to be re-signing on a Scholarship, so doesn't count towards the 20.

I don't think Burgess followed the team back from Sydney, Piney has no idea who he is when someone mentioned him. He would have had to been rather good vs Sydney to get a deal considering how long ADJ trained with the squad and still didn't get a deal.

I would think the definite signing will be Elliot

Signing players who have not been involved in any preseason training/trial/game sounds crazy, I really hope Rudan has a plan.

Gotta hope Rudan was the leave it til the night before essay hand-in and get an A+ type guy at school.

See that's what I thought. Elliot for sure, probably one of either Mandi or Yoo, but then who else? Unless Rudan has some bigger names in the pipeline that don't need to trial, but that seems unlikely. Whats going to happen I have no idea

I don't see Roodz signing anyone he hasn't seen trial first. Doesn't seem like his MO.

I would volunteer to help people with a fake Polish accent if it gets someone half-decent signed, sight unseen.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Sounds like Kearyn Baccus is off to City. I wouldn't have minded him, couple seasons ago he was rather good & turned down a South African call up.

Six signings this year - five had zero or minimal trial periods (Kopa, Kurto, Taylor, Nichols and Williams), and one (Rufer) had a longish trial. Wouldn't be surprised if he did sign more players with a brief trial or no trial, especially ones he knows or with good references.

Wondering if Yoo is in the picture still - he wasn't even on the bench vs MV, and not reported as playing for the reserves vs TW.

I keep looking at the Phoenix Website for news of the signings but have been greeted with the same news that the Phoenix “continue to develop the best of emerging talent” - does this mean that ALL remaining signings will be coming from the Weenix? Any more news or even a whisper of a rumour?
