What if they have a coach in mind who was either already contracted to the end of the season? Or one like Ramon who didn't have the right qualifications at that stage but apparently does now?

Really depends on whether there were any viable alternatives. Usually pretty slim pickings mid season.
How do you know?

So just a hunch.
Isn't it a fair enough assumption in the absence of any evidence to the contrary...
Normo's coming home

I will offer your next response for you if you like.
But Welnix don't negotiate in the public domain
I have no idea what recruitment they did or did not do. I can understand the logic in why they made the decision to go with Des and Greenie. But to say they definitely didn't look elsewhere, when there is no evidence either way, is disingenuous.
And it took about a month to name a replacement for the season. Seems to provide an indication that some discussions/inquiries elsewhere took place.

That's why I said "What if"...

And now four months down the track we are effectively in the same position we were when Ernie pulled the pin.

Well I think we know one thing, neither Buckingham or Greenacre will be getting the job

Like I say, options are (generally) limited mid season. Recall City did exactly the same thing soon after us, and they have quite a global network.

Get Ross Aloisi in for the giggles
Crikey, I never thought I'd be saying it but right now I'd even settle for Rudan.. Give him carte blanche to run a broom through the squad and see what we end up with. Whether we like it or not, after a few seasons of mediocrity something has to change or we'll be having exactly the same angsty discussions this time next season.

I'd love to know who makes the calls on giving players new contracts - who re-signed Parkhouse for example?

We could end up losing most of the squad but these things happen from time to time. So long as we can recruit better players and not just fill-ins.
The footballing committee with input from the coaches, as with every signing. There was a story on it an while back.

Yes but who else is on the football committee and why are Rob Morrison and David Dome making decisions on signing players??
Normo's coming home
I was under the impression that neither Morrison or Dome was on it but I don't know who is on it.
Shaun Gill (football operations). Think someone with keys to fault would be in terms of financing wages etc.
Just saw the press conference, Buckingham dumped it on Parkhouse.
2 weeks to get the team ready for this and he/they failed.
Moss says players didnt stick to the plan.
Its a shambles.

Your assessment is a hunch also then.
There are always better coaches and players available at any time during a season. (And dont come back with who ?).
It seems the owners are not inclined to spend the money, and went with the easy option.
So just a hunch.
More like a prejudice. If we don't like the outcome, obviously the process was wrong or non-existent or they "didn't try" or "didn't want to spend money". It is impossible that people could have made a bad call after doing everything right. That is the essence of bad faith.
Yes, assuming good faith from WelNix is in itself an unsupported assumption. But I think it's an assumption consistent with my mental health and a sunny disposition. If you like to assume that screw-ups are due to incompetence or even malevolence, rather than bad luck or best-of-bad-options, then the angsty discussions will continue, no matter if we win the league next season.
Some people aren't happy unless they've got something to be unhappy about.
Anyone - a favourite player coming back? The only retread that I would get excited about would be Marco, or Paul Ifill with two bionic legs.

As someone said earlier, the selection itslef deserves scrutiny. Struggling to think of a good game he has had at the back

I honestly thought Parkhouse did well at QBE. (He did play at QBE, didn't he? My memory may be faulty.)

Huh? All I said is there is no evidence either way as you'd expect with any recruitment.
Believe It or Not

Seems like its who he thinks will be in charge instead of 'likely to be confirmed' by the club.

I am more than happy when things are going well, even happy enough when we do things tough but in case you haven't noticed things a pretty fudgeen dire right now
"hoping"
And Riera left because he doesn't want to play professional football.

Yep, answers the 'believe it or not' question.
I was under the impression that neither Morrison or Dome was on it but I don't know who is on it.
I think Noah Hickey was (might still be) on the footballing committee along with the coaches plus at least 1 from the board (I think Gareth at first, hence him taking notes at training). It's basically a director of football role by committee.

You'd usually expect your "director of football" to have significant "football" experience which is what seems to be lacking with the names on that list.

Yeah Phoenix fans definitely don't have anything to be unhappy about right now

Oh, I'm definitely unhappy. One of the things I'm unhappy about is the search by fans for someone to blame for our admittedly shark performances. I have previously stated that I think it's a culture which is comfortable with low achievement, not something that can be fixed by marquees or Rob Morrison selling his house to buy more radio ads or any of the other quick fixes mentioned.

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.
