Phoenix City Prediction Table after round 1 completed

Patrick is leading the way

1 point for a correct result

3 points for a correct score

Cam, absolutely nailiong it, since forever.

You've got the figures in the wrong columns (or headers on the wrong columns) and Pat should be on 4 points. Or are you being charitable and giving him a head start?

Are you sure?

The results column is where you get the right result but not the exact score e.g. you picked CCm to win 1 - 0 over Perth but they actually won 3 - 2. You get 1 point for getting the result right.

The score column is where you get the result right AND you get the score exactly right. Like when Pat got the MVC v ADL 0 - 0 draw 100% right. You get 3 points for that.

The table says Pat got 3 correct results, for 3 points, and 1 exact score, for 3 points, for a total of 6 points.

Note: You don;t get 3 points for the score AND 1 point for the result for a total of 4 points when you get one right. You only get the 1 point for the result if you don't get the score exactly right. i.e. when you get the score exactly right you only get 3 points.

Ah. Thanks for clarification I was misreading the table. Kindly disregard any and all my comments. I'll go back to my design cave.

Almost.  I'm doing 1 point for the result and 3 points for the score so you can get 4 points per match.  You can't get the 3 unless you get the 1. Can change that to 2 points instead of 3, making 3 total per match if you want

Yes that was exactly my impression. de Bohun feels that there's a view among Australians that the FFA is financially propping up New Zealand Football to the tune of AUD$3m a year.

Only the $3m a year?

Surely all the clubs make way more than that with being able to tell sponsors that their shirt space gets broadcast in 2 countries.

FFS its not hard to see we bring way more than $3m to the tourno.

Oh and good pod chaps as always.

Two reasons why this podcast was the best so far:

1. Greenie - very honest

2. The pedantry was turned down from about a 10 to about a 2. It's soooo much better when you aren't bitching and overly correcting each other.

Some generous player ratings there boys. I'd say a bare 5 for both Fenton and Doyle. Both were questionable in their positioning, distribution and defending their area. I'd give you that both were very keen and energetic and put themselves about well.

On a similar note, I think it's also easier to listen to when the same things aren't being repeated by 2/3 of you and you're not speaking over the top of each other. Maybe ask "does anyone disagree" rather than "does everyone agree". You don't all need to speak on every point.

Just my opinion, it's getting better week on week.

Thoroughly enjoyable listen. Awesome when you can tell everyone is smiling. May Vinnie score more often, maybe even annually!
Yep have to say player ratings a bit generous for Doyle and Louis. Though both defended reasonably well. Doyle's " distribution" was extremely generous. Louis seems to run forward to half way and then think, um what do I do now? Oh damn I will just cut inside as usual.

Anyway, appreciate the effort. Thanks.

You can caution for persistent team foul. Persistent infringement can be 1 player committing many fouls, a team committing many fouls or different players committing fouls against 1 player (i.e running a different defender at the star play maker and kicking him out of the game) Thought I should point that out.

So , as it asked in the pod, who gets booked then?

The key to it is pro-active refereeing.

In the case of 1 guy fouling others, you get him out for a public warning in the hope that he gets it. If not, the yellow card is not a surprise cause you have laid the foundation with the public warning.

In the other 2 cases whereby a team is committing lots of fouls or targeting a player, you get the captain out and give him the public warning in the hope that he tells his team to sort it. The next guy that commits the foul, gets the card, again cause of the foundation work. If you make it clear what is going on, then the next guy can't go "oh that's not fair"

For me, using the captains to warn teams around persistent infringement is the least utilised skill of pretty much all the referees in the HAL and yet it's the biggest leverage asset you have on the field. You can make him go be the bad cop and get him to deliver your message. If they don't stop fouling after that, the foundation has already been laid for sanctions.

When was the last time you saw Durante called out for a chat or any other captain about team fouls?

how much does it mean to you to be the only remaining foundation player of the club?

In what way/s has the club grown since you turned up on day one?

Which seasons squad was your favourite to play with and why?

Who is the biggest joker or prankster in the history of the club?

Would you rather score from 100 corners but have to fight a horse sized duck, or score from one corner and fight a duck sized horse?
