Just a correction on the rolling subs in the Capital Football W-League, there is no longer rolling subs. Has been changed again just back to 5 subs for the league.

Not really a correction if we were reading straight from the regs when we recorded though, right? Gotta keep our integrity intact here ?

The regs had changed by the time you recorded... https://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/regional-football-powered-by-park-life/topics/female-teams-pulled-out-from-central-league?page=17#post_1179622

A slightly depleted pod (thanks to the arrival of a new baby and some rain) is bolstered by friend of the Fever Adam Ryan, and celebrates Team Wellington's glorious victory over Auckland City this week, as well as the Nix's glorious victory over the Victory. Local football has kicked off, we wrap the first round of results from the Central League and the wannabe W-League.

Good Pod once again.
One attribute that is important about Ramon that we're probably overlooking is the fact that he is a bit of a cup competition specialist with ACFC doing well in the club world cup, that hong kong competition, lunar cup, etc. This is without the best funded team obviously, these knockout competitions in foreign places aren't to disimilar to hte A-League finals system.
good pod guys. but two points -
I thought it was Andy B who sent in that delightful ball for teedubs first goal?
and on the Jose v Ramon chat, I think you guys are caught up in the moment a bit. Ramon has a proven track record of creating and renewing very good sides. I think he breadth of knowledge and experience that isn't comparable with Jose's. his CV reads like this:
FIFA Club World Cup Bronze: 2014
OFC Champions League Champions (6): 2010–11, 2011–12, 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014-15, 2016
New Zealand Football Championship Premiers (4): 2011-12, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015–16
New Zealand Football Championship Champions (2): 2014, 2015
ASB champs (3): 2011, 2013, 2015
Technical adviser to Canadian women's national team (who got bronze at the Olympics when he was with them)
Plus the lunar cup and OFC presidents cup things.
Compare that with someone who has 9 months as a manger and 1 ASB championship. Don't get me wrong, I think its a good start, but Jose has a fair way to go before you can consider him in the same league as Ramon, let alone which would you have over the nix.
Also, your comment about the resources available at Auckland city for Ramon to use, are you implying or are in fact, greater than what phoenix have? I doubt that. But if it is the case, that's amazing and horrible at the same time.

On the second point, the Phoenix clearly have more resources in absolute terms. But relative to the rest of the league that the two clubs are in, Auckland are head and shoulders above every other club, and the Phoenix are probably about halfway down the pecking order.
Does that explanation make sense?

I'm not going to give him credit for the Nike Lunar New Year cup, because that was basically just a preseason friendly tournament and the strength of the teams the other clubs put out is questionable.
Club World Cup is the obvious exception to this. He foots it against teams with far more resources. Yes, he's had a few amazing results (2014 was especially good, punching well above the weight any NZ side should be). But most other years he's lost the first game to the host nation, which balances out the amazing runs for mine.
And this is all just looking at results, if you look at how he tactically sets up his team, there's a large assumption that they can just play a team off the park. Take the Waitak 4-1 game and the final for example. Opposition team clearly on top - and Auckland play their same tactics of slowing the game down at every chance, holding the ball for as long as they can while not creating much penetration (if any going forward). When this tactic works, it works amazingly well (see Club World Cup and the number of times he's finished 1st in the league), but when it doesn't, he gets exposed for having no Plan B at all.
All up - it's given me enough doubts about whether he's the right man for the Nix job, but definitely not going to go as far as saying he's a "bad" coach, because he's clearly still one of the best we have in this country at the moment.

I think you got a bit carried away in VAR discussion. They only use it for game changing situations. I think it will be fine. The worst about the VAR will be the idiot FOX pundits tslking about it.
Enjoyed the pod as always. I think we should look at the VAR positively, might actually save the last rounds from debacle decisions. While there might well be teething poblems, there might also be great interventions.

No the worst thing about it is the idiot A League officials using it or not using it when needed.

I was just hoping we would keep on winning so the title could be back to back to back to back :(

Get me on it and you will be censoring everything I say. I thought about it this morning and I am more angry now than I was at the game. In a word it is call cheating. FFA cheats 1 team playing its arse off 0.

On the comments about attendance at QBE. According to Wiki (yes, I know, but...), Auckland City v TeeDubs in OCL finals, they got a bigger crowd in Suva in 2015 than at QBE in 2016.
New pod out! http://yellowfever.co.nz/podcasts
The VAR has hit the Nix hard this weekend, we discuss everything about the Rossi incident and whether we like how VAR has been implemented. TeeDubs are bring the Oceania Champions League to Wellington this weekend, and we've had another round of Central League and W-League.
Yellow Fever - Misery loves company
The intent behind VAR might have been good but football games are meant to flow. Games like League and Union have as many breaks as an NFL game and can accomodate the long breaks in making a simple decision. Football could do without the distraction. If anything it will lead to more abuse at match officials as they dither about and like in our game, get it wrong.

New (and slightly belated) podcast out now over at http://yellowfever.co.nz/podcasts!
The season is over, which isn't the worst thing ever. The pod wrap up the strange match against Brisbane, look at the list of award winners from the Nix Awards and hand out some gongs of their own, and preview the first round of playoffs this weekend. Meanwhile, TeeDubs have romped into the OCL final against Auckland with a 7-1 win, and there was a double round of the Central League to discuss.

Excellent pod. Whats the more story behind the marist stopout keeper thing?
Best Bobsled: Tom Doyle got a few yellows for some ropey-looking tackles this season. Could have been a contender
