He has moved in my estimation up from "talented waste of space" to "is energetic and whips in a great cross on a good day".  For the exact reverse see Mulligan, David.

Hearfield is powerful and quick, has a cannon of a right foot, and can be very dangerous (and not just for bartenders).  It would also seem Ricki has an eye for him as right back cover too, and the fact that he has given that a shot suggests a shift in attitude or, quite possibly, that we've misjudged him.

troy had a good start to his Nix career

Can someone please tell me what the Mariners intend to wear for the game?

Surely they can't wear the home strip (Navy & Yellow stripes), nor their alternative shirt (Plain yellow).

So what will they wear? Will they create a third kit? Play in skins?

Anyone know or considered this?

I've considered it and come to the conclusion that both teams will probably be wearing their clash strips.

Why should we have to, we are at home?  They should be forced to have a more suitable alternative strip or a third kit

We should take a leaf out of Radioman's book and wear an all pink strip.

Only real men wear pink.

this would be my ideal team for sat

                                          Paston
     Muscat               Siggy           Dura        Lochy

          Bertos        Brown       Caceres      Daniel

                                           Ifill
                               Greenacre

(If Ifill not fit then: Hearfield    Caceres   Brown    Bertos
                                                      Daniel
                                                  Greenacre  )

Bench:
Crowther
COSTA
Hearfield
Lia

Paston

Muscat - Sigmund - Durante - Lochhead

Ifill - Brown - Lia - Bertos

Chen - Greenacre

Bench:

Crowther
Daniel
Costa/Rojas/Caceres
Diego/Hearfield

That is assuming Chen is better than Costa, just want a 2nd striker.  Everyone says we play with 3 (Ifill & Bertos) but really the are midfielders, we need a real 2nd striker supporting Greenacre.  We are creating chances but none for Greenacre, I think we would be better having strikers shooting than always midfielders.

I realise all my subs are attacking midfielders but their isn't much other option (Mulligan - yeah right, Ferrante - same boat as Mully)

I'm not really sure why we would drop Lia, he has been eregetic, closes down the opposition and plays the simple pass and keeps it moving in there, he is a key player to the way we want to play, sitting in there, taking the ball from defence and linking in with the forward players.

Depends on injuries for the team selection really, I wouldn't expect Ricki to change things around (unless for tactical reasons!) for this match but still want Ifill pushed a bit further up to support Greenacre.

Personally would go for:

Crowther

Muscat  Sigmund  Durante  Lochhead

Hearfield  Lia  Brown  Bertos

Ifill

Greenacre

Subs:  Daniel / Paston / Chen / Cecaras

Lack of defender on the bench is a bit worrying, not sure what we would have done at the weekend if we had lost Durante or Sigmund to injury?

Muscat can play at Centre Back.

Ok, never seen him play there so was wondering and we could push Lia or Hearfield in at RB.

This has been mentioned 4 or 5 times in the last fortnight but in most of our pre-season games Muscat played at centre back as we had Siggy recovering from surgery and the other two in and out for various reasons.

Just a question - Why did we sign Chen if hes not even good enough to get on the bench? Surely we shouldve signed a player who can at least challenge for a starting spot, or is it just me?

Why do we have to read a million things in to subjects without any basis ?

Just because someone doesn't make the bench doesn't mean they aren't good enough for the role required in the squad but maybe with a three man bench they don't offer enough versatility to be a bench option.  I mean if Greenacre got injured who would replace him in the starting line-up?

People I know who have trained with the Phoenix say he's been excellent at training and a danger in front of goal.  He's costing us very little on loan and adds to our squad.  What is the loss for us ?

Seriously, would it kill people to think positively about one little thing ?

So if we sign a guy and he doesn't walk straight into the eleven then he was a bad buy?

Thats not what I said. He should be at least challenging for a bench spot, you would think, rather than have Ferrante there, or 2 wingers.

Signings, IMO, are supposed to improve the squad, I see little point in signing players that are worse than what we already have.

That is brilliant news - I was looking at having to leave the match early on Sunday due to a scheduling conflict that I really have to honour. Now I won't have to - yay!

However, the club really needs to make sure people know. I have seen this quite by accident and I imagine there will be a few people who don't see it and will be annoyed to turn up only in time for the second half. There's no news on the Nix site that I can see, but the KO time has been changed to 4pm on the fixture list.

I don't do an audit and tick off the details on match posters against my season ticket every week.... who does?!

No Greenacre ? ah... okay.

The club have emailed it, there are news reports covering it, there was a thread on here last week, this thread highlights it.  Tony P even posted on here confirming it.

The FFA changed it last week and the Phoenix have communicated it ever since then and will continue to do so.

Just a bit of minor angst...

Sky website says its at 3

My ticket says its at 5.

Got me worried so went to check.

Phoenix official website didnt advertise a change on the front page - only the time down on the right hand side which was 4pm - different to both my other sources of info, so wasnt sure which to trust...

I was just trying to source 'official' word rather than trawl through threads. Eventually had to resort to threads, and the answer was confirmed for me.

Not for me. Controversial on here I know - don't want to wind anyone up, but I don't think he's the man for the job personally. Haven't seen him do all that much. Won the ball back off them a couple of times last week and works really hard but I expect a bit more. I suppose I just don't think he looks dangerous enough. I don't think it's just because of the formation Herbert is playing.

+1

It's not his fault he's been playing by himself so far forward.

plus he's not a targetman because he's too short. If we keep the ball on the deck he will be the man for the job!!!!

On a side note, can someone tell me what party boy troy actually does on a football pitch? I must be missing something

decent pace, good touch, wants to do well, apparently can strike a ball well for power,

played a very sweet 60 metre diagonal ball from rb to Caceres about 80th min

looks better now he's not being asked to do 80 + mins =  his head used to go towards the end of each shift

if he develops over this and next season, he might need a good contract to keep him here

What baffles me is....

Ifill playing out wide??
He would be really dangerous upfront with Greenacre and looks to be a good finisher...

Herbert said clearly during pre season he wanted 2 strikers...
He succeeded but plays Greenacre upfront by himself??

                     Lia      Sig       Dura       Lochy

I like this apart from swapping Bertos and Caceres, no point playing a left midfielder on the right.

plus Chen must be on the bench this week. Instead of Costa

no other changes.

I'm going to say this for the 3rd day running.  If Ifill creates all our best chances from the role he is currently playing why on earth would you move him to a position where he's on the end of what he creates ?  If he's not in midfield, it isn't going to be created is it ?

..and again I see Lia dropped for Caceras... a man who wins the ball and makes passes, a man who does the dirty work being replaced with a predominantly attacking player the week we're running in to close to the two best attacking midfield players in the league ?

I know that as an employee of Football Manager this is somewhat my fault but FFS people this real life, not a computer game.  There is NO chance that Lia doesn't start this week unless he's injured, None.  Live with it.

If Caceres can virtually walk straight into the squad, then why not Chen? To me it would appear he's considered not good enough? On Sunday we didn't even have a striker on the bench and he still didn't make it?

The real story may well be different but surely us fans can only draw conclusions from what we can see and hear, and in Chen's case, it's very little!

I still wouldn't mind seeing Bertos tried up front to be honest, and before anyone laughs at that, consider the fact he's joint top scorer along with Ifill and Greenacre who are considered as strikers...
