i think this could be a really good chance tfor either rojas or costa to show what they have got. I think both of them would be to test the CCM deffence specially as both of them have some wheels. COME ON NIX'S 3 -0. Cant wait!!!!

this what i think

                   Paston
Muscat   siggy   Durante   Lochy
              Lia            Brown
Bertos                              Caceras
           Greenacre  Rojas
Bench:
Crowther
Hearfield
Costa
Ferrante/Diego/Mulligan/Chen

But i think it would be more likely that costa would start ahead of rojas but thats just what i would like to see

Chen must not have trained very well if he is considering putting young non-strikers up front ahead of him

Certainly the lack of fanfare, which you might typically expect of a new signing = alarm bells for me.

so - Caceres in for Daniel and Costa/Chen/Rojas in for Ifill.

as i said - with no Ifill, i don't think anyone will lead the attack (C'MON BERTOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Bertos has been a bit quite in the last 2 games....... he needs to step it up a notch.

Apparently he's in the process of arranging a Charity match to benefit Earthquake victims...

To be honest he was always just a back up - he is only on loan for a year after all - just suprised he isn't even being used as a back up is all. Obviously Ricki hasn't seen enough from him.

Bertos has to paly out wide. He can use his dribbling skills out wide whereas if he plays centrally he will get shut down in an instant

CCMhave the best defense in the league....conceded only 4 this season....Nix without Ifill, our best attacking player. Could be a low scoring draw.

Sure hope Costa plays upfront with Greenace with Loe and Caceras wide. Agreed its a midget front line against the best defense in the comp. But if you keep the ball at your feet and attack them that way then then size should not matter. if we revert to long balls and high crosses then it will be bread and butter for the big CCM defenders....we need to get in behind them and turn them around.

Costa scored twice in the practice game mid week...you need to reward that effort. Hearfield will probably come of the bench to replace Caceras....but it would be nice to see marcos get a run.
If that is the case the " play Costa and Marcos brigade" will wet themselves.

think we could potentially beat the mariners. IF Brown/ Lia can nullify Travis and McGlinchey.
An attack of Costa/ Greenacre might actually pair better than Ifill? Costa will have that extra pace up front and will probably give Chris more support up front. With Caceres giving them more of what he showed last week, we could potentially win this one 2 nill.

Going on what Ricki has been saying we play three up front - Daniel, Ifill and Greenacre.  Caceres will be a straight replacement for one of Daniel/ifill. Chen does not get a look in - Greeny is still there.  Rojas or Costa will take the vacant second roving wide forward position if Ifill cannot play.

I would prefer myself to see Leo up front wider, but that's clearly not how Ricki has been playing it.  So bertos starts but in this whatever position Ricki has been playing him in.

I think I know what you mean - you are talking on the field aren't you (in which case I agree)?

If Iffil is out then either of the young lads will be champing at the bit to prove themselves. All good stuff.

just being a good lad like News expects and trying to see it how ricki sees it.   but it does suggest Chen won't be called on and the young lads will get that forward wide role they suit.  Will be great for them to get a chance at home, in a possy they are familiar with and yep they'll be fizzing whichever of them gets a go.  should be fun.

Don't have any real preferences (Costa, Marcos, Chen) but did like the look of Costa in his one game last season. Hopefully he has dreamed that he'll score another goal as he did last time.

Looks like that crappy weather is blowing away. Might have another game in the sun, which will hopefully bolster crowd numbers again. I thought last week there would have been more than 9,700 in the crowd; it certainly looked more to me.

Looking forward to seeing Barbarouses or Rojas start.

And once more, the news that nobody wants to know:
Vasco da Gama (1st place Serie B, Brazil) plays the almighty Duque de Caxias (16th place) this weekend. The only Rio derby in the league. Hoping to stretch our lead to 9 points. That's what I'm talking about.

Agreed. Last season we saw him prove his worth and if he could nip a couple then surely he will have that Bench spot permanently. Or even if the partnership turns out good we could have Ifill, Greenacre and Costa on a t once... lol what a dream
