If he is at 50/50 I would rather see Daniel play (that hurts to say) and have ifill on the bench where he could be used in say the last half hour (subject to him being that fit i suppose)

If he's 50/50 then why have him on the bench?
Have a guy who's half fit coming on for 20?
Never makes one bit of sense to me - if he plays then he starts, at least then he can come off, but if he's 50/50 then don't include him at all until he's right

By 50/50 that means to me that there is a 50% chance that he will be fit enough to play, not that he is 50% fit. There is obviously some doubt over his fitness and if we can get away without using him at all that would be good, I just think he is a pretty good ace to have up the sleeve

Correct, which means one would assume he's not 100% fit

I would doubt he has been 100% fit for some time, so given the chance to rest him I would but use him if it becomes necessary

Could saying that ifill "might" play just be a ploy by Ricki to get more bums on seats?

I say we really need a really good forward/midfield...perhaps Roy Krishna? I saw the final vs Canterbury and he can run like a cheetah and shoot like a lion <--(powerful, accurate and height) he really needs to come into wellington phoenix! I really mean it! btw - he plays for Waitakere United Vinny162010-09-24 11:30:24

Can't see how? Ifill not playing could mean less bums, although I assume the crowd numbers won't change much

Unlucky for Pav that he's away when he possibly would have been handed a start had he been here.

This is the day lads, am still feeling good about this one.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Stop that right now!

No Ifill, no Lochead, No Pav.

We will be outclassed by NQF eager to climb above us.

I have already purchased my pack of razors.

you seem to be forgetting that NQF have none of their strike force available, payne with under 23's, one injured and the uganan striker is at home cos of visa issues.

Has 0-0 written all over it imo

(whenever I say that it usually turns out to be a 5-5 thriller or something)

going for a record tonight !!!!

A win or a draw tonight would be the Phoenix's 23rd consecutive unbeaten match at Westpac Stadium.

It would equal the Australian national league record for consecutive games without a loss at the same venue.

My first ROF match...can't wait!

TBH I think a 3-1-3-1-2 could have potential for this game - something different but I think it could work well with the players we have. I just don't want to see Manny leaving the holding midfield role where he's been so good.

You'll be pleased to know that I've opened my first drink. It's been a long time since we've lost at the stadium when I've drunk before the game.

True story, I can't really see it being anything else.  Get the feeling its going to be a surprisingly open game

Not an impressive bench for us. Hearfield obviously not going too great so far this season. Haven't seen much of Toto because it seems Ricki doesn't rate him - as much as others at least. Probably don't lose much with Macallister replacing Greenacre. Bit of height there at least.

All you jinxers leave me no choice.

Not only will I be wearing my lucky Phoenix City T, but I will have to grab my Canteen bandanna too.

This will look very silly under my beanie but it needs doing thanks to all the glass half full brigade.

(BTW the new bandanna drive must be due soon).

yeah ricki realised greenacre actually preferred to play next to another striker, so took away BigMac, just to keep players on their toes and not be complacent...

alternatively, ricki realised greenacre was just as (un)efficient up front whether he had big mac next to him or not?

^This, hence my confusion.
Greenie isn't doing as well up front without Mac. No chance for partnership to grow.
What's happening instead, is it trying to control the midfield and keep Ward in as the other attacking option?

With Ifill out I'm looking forward to see how the rest of the team perform without him.
