Incidentally, I'm no apologist for the FFA.  They're spineless as f**k but for once it's nice to have a fight I am backing them in.

What if we sang a Beach Boys song in solidarity with The Beach?

How about the sophisticated melodic structure and 3 part vocal harmonies of "God Only Knows"?

that's a slam dunk! We could do that EASILY!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Umm yeah, except that's a video of Good Vibrations not God Only Knows.

It's no f**king wonder we can't sing Stand Up in tune!

Am I the only one thinking that we should actually express solidarity with the six or seven GCU fans? Indicate that we feel sorry for them and we don't want to see them out of the league. We came on the Sloop Clive P
The Beach, Miron and me
All around the Gold Coast, we did roam
Drinking all night, got into a fight
Well I feel so broken, I want go to home

So hoist up Clive P's sail
See all the empty seats
Call for the Captain ashore
Let Clive go home,
Why won't you go home, why don't you go home?
United's broken, why don't you go home? (Fat B*stard, Fat B*stard, Fat B*stard)

Palmer must have got drunk
Tried to pull a publicity stunt
The FFA has to come and take him away
Now , Smeltzy is gone, Culina is gone
Uniteds Broken, I want to go home

So hoist up Clive P's sail
See all the empty seats
Call for the Captain ashore
Let Clive go home,

Why won't you go home? why don't you go home
United's broken, why won't you go home (Fat B*stard, Fat B*stard, Fat B*stard)

Poor Miron, he caught Clives fits
When he threw out all of his toys
And then he took the pies and all of the chips,
Wont you go home, why don't you go home?
This is the worst trip I've ever been on

So hoist up Clive P's sail
See all the empty seats
Call for the Captain ashore
Let Clive go home,

Why won't you go home?
United's broken, why won't you go home

Clive said that it cost 7mil for the NIx license..Did he mean what Terry had to pay the FFA or the new owners to keep it?
Permalink Permalink
about 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I think that's the cost Terry paid (I thought it was $10m), Welnix didn't pay anything for the licence, it was simply transferred to them.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure Terry didn't pay that just to get the licence. If anything that would have been for expenses but more likely clive was just plucking random numbers out of the air.

Sad fact is, Clive's bully boy confrontational style might get him what he wants in his business realm, (temporarily at least), but he should never have gone down the football club ownership path.
Without a genuine love of the game he has courted failure from the get-go.

His ego and wealth has led him to believe he can do and get what ever he likes.
The problem is the finesse required to build and maintain a successful football franchise within the framework of the current FFA model, maintain healthy relationships with FFA, players and staff, the media and local authorities, and engage the local football community and build a loyal fan base are well beyond him, it seems.

Laugh his fat ass off, probably.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Shame Miron has gone. i actually quite liked him. He brought colour and discussion to the League. He treated players like adults. Some of the footy GCU turned out in their debut season was excellent. I think Miron gone, is a loss to the FFA and A League.

I agree with this..when Ifirst came across Miron he talked a lot of sh*t which riled me up a bit but then came to realise that it was a lot of tongue in cheek comments and I think that the A-league is poorer for his departure. Shame that fat bastard Palmer ( who seems intent on bringing the league down ) cant get his marching orders

Yeah, I always found Miron entertaining as well. He may pick up another gig in the a-league next year anyway, they all seem to come back at some point (e.g. GVE, Kos, Ferguson etc).
Loving the marketing as well, have already forwarded these links to quite a few families I know who come to the Nix every now and then. Great stuff.

So will there be a "we miss you Miron, we do" chant then?
