So we went back to gameplan 'A' today- crosses from wide out to a short line.

Let's be honest goals one and two were down to some sloppy Heart defending in the box, as well as some cool finishing.

Can we switch to the team that played skilfull one-touch through the centre if we want to?

I did notice at one point there seemed to have been an instruction to run with the ball- great dribbles from Smith and others (game plan c?)

We seem to have some attacking options and goals coming from everywhere. Dead keen to see Daniel and Sanchez convert 2 or 3 of these free kicks- I think that's about 5 or 6 posts off free kicks this year!

Glory hosted 3 NSL finals at Subiaco. Interestingly I think they only won one of them.

Correct, only won one grand final at Subiaco.

3 NSL Grand Finals at Subi

4 NSL Finals at Subi. (17,000, 32,000,36,000 and 43,000 the four crowds)

Anyways many games to play before we know who will finish 2nd. Will be a good three way tussle with Brisbane and you guys...

FYI, by the time it gets to Aisle 23 there is no tune.

Also I will take some credit - I wore my mostly lucky stripey to the game, and all throughout the game I was yelling at Leo to "give it a go". When he finally did, he beat his marker and put in a lovely cross for Ifill .

We were joined by our cousins in the 2nd half. Youngest did shirts off at 80.

According to an article on FourFourTwo so did Ricki:

[quote=442]"I said to him at half-time 'is there any chance you can take the full-back on?'," joked Herbert.

I don't think anyone can argue with the result :)

So uh, why no Lindsay at all??

Wasn't it because Manny swooped in out of thin air to save the day?

Yeah, but I thought he was still rated higher than Downey (who got on the field) due to all the press he was given during the week, with Ricki talking him up, and Lia wasn't used at all, so why couldn't Lindsay be there instead? He goes from looking at starting, to being dropped out of the match day squad. The kid needs game time!

Perhaps we need to get a popular kiwi band to make a cover of 'Go West' so that the next generation of Kiwi footy fans get to know the tune. Currently it appears the FZ is doing its best to completely erase a fine (and simple) tune from collective memory.

tricky feet isn't Leo's master class - but balance, skinning a player or toeing ahead and burning them for pace seem to be something he can do with the best of them martinb2012-01-30 10:13:13

Not so sure it is pace anymore....possibly more total surprise and shock that he has actually taken them on

I think everyone was momentarily stunned just after Ifill/Greenie had scored!

The thing I said after Greenie scored was, see what happens when Bertos takes a player on instead of back tracking!

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

problem with Leo is that his so inconsitant with taking players on. He'll either try it all the time or never - neither is very effective....at least last night he tried it once - it came off and the end result was stunning.

Watched the replay of the Heart Highlights last night. Did anyone notice that when Greenie scored, as he went around behind the goal and towards the fever zone he put his finger up to his lips in a "Shhhhhh..." sign?

I thought maybe he was reacting to some of his vocal critics that he doesn't finsh/doesn't win balls in the air.

With good service like Leo's awesome cross he can get between two defenders and knock it in.

Well done Chris.

I haven't really heard much criticism of Greenie at all. Maybe lacks a pit of pace or height. But hes playing pretty well as it is. I guess the only thing he could be shushing is the number of people convinced he will retire and take up the coaching role.

Maybe he's just really modest and didn't want the crowd to make a big deal out of his goal?

If he doesn't want the crowd to make a big deal of the go-ahead goal he is sh*t out of luck.

Whenever a striker puts his fingers to his lips after a goal, I always think it means something like shocked into silence - like the fact that he poached that ball out from two defenders was a great scandal or something.
Having trouble explaining what I mean but yeah I don't ever think the striker is saying "and you can all just can the criticism".
