so manny definitely suspended? Piney?

Yes, the yellow on Friday night was his fifth.

Dura, Brown and Lochhead all on four, but the slate is cleared after this game (21 matches). However, if they get a yellow in this one, they'll miss the trip to CCM.

Isn't the number of yellows before a suspension increased to 8, rather than the slate cleared?

Sorry, yes, I think that's right.

Cant make this game unfortunately. Bit Gutted. Anyone had any good ideas to commemorate the homecoming of Adnan?
I may be accused of being an Adnan sympathiser, or come across as being a pussy, but to me, almost any attempt to reference his missed penalty on 14.11.09 would be in rather poor taste. This poor guy had to endure the pain of self exile from his homeland, being forced into public confession about his "crimes", and have friends be "pressured" into turning on him. All of allegedly being involved in peaceful pro-democracy demonstrations after his cousin was shot in the head during an earlier protest. Seriously the guy should be admired for his strength of character to come back from everything that's happened in his life. I'm all for light-hearted ribbing of players but I'm ready to let this one go on balance. After all, as quite rightly pointed out by some earlier posters, we should be thankful for his missed penalty which had a big influence in our World Cup qualification. He pretty much did us a favour rather than do anything against us.

Ahmad, you are SUCH a nice guy........

But no chance

Want to know the irony? He won't care.

The first time I met him in Dunedin I was a little tongue-tied and didn't get to say much. I really regretted that knowing there was unlikely to be another chance for me to meet him.

Our paths crossed again - I went to him and he seemed a little curious at my enthusiasm for him. He asked me "do you know who I am?".

I replied "what do you mean? I know you are Sayed Mohamed Adnan...but...".

He responded "I'm the guy who missed the penalty...".

Sure he would obviously feel gutted at missing that penalty but looking at what he's overcome in his life since then I know he's got a greater strength of character than I do, and I dare say most of us sitting down in computers in our care-free lives.

Sure, heckle him for his missed penalty, but as I said I doubt he'll give a sh*t. He's classier than that, and I reckon much of Yellow Fever is too.

See, this is the thing though.. he didn't miss the penalty.

Paston saved it.

BIG difference. (from a goalkeepers perspective anyway)

Doesn't matter. We goalkeepers will claim anything.

Take this example: A goalkick, where it goes straight to an opposition defender who back passes it into his own goal.. that's an assist my friend, with questions raised as to whether the back pass was nothing more than a deflection.

And anyway, if Paston hadn't of saved it, would it have gone in the goal. Would we have gone to the World Cup?goldienz2012-02-06 18:43:13

Maybe the club is really trying to generate interest and reduce prices "unofficially".

I doubt they will mind for your isolated case but you struck more Ticketek incompetence, rather than Club generosity

I read about his gesture before I actually saw it, and after all the fuss I was surprised at how tame it was to be honest. It was hardly any more than good-natured banter, and I'll be disgusted if he cops a ban.

How about the Bahraini attacker getting a falcon on the back of the head from a ball that's lobbed slowly (from the arm admittedly) from all of a meter and a half away

To be fair, if an opposition player did this in front of the YF zone, don't think anyone would be calling it 'good-natured banter'.

Maybe true but I'd find it funny personally. Bring it on. Chant some sh*t about him for the rest of the match.

Not sure I'd call the player a disgrace. I'd just laugh at him

Oh absolutely, I'd be fired up and calling for the guy's head. I'm not saying reds fans have to sit down and politely applaud at the end of the match, I'm just saying that a ban (which one hopes would be judged a lot more objectively) would be a bit ridiculous.

As a slight side note, I've always wondered whether opposition fans hate SigmUnd. To us, he's a living legend, but I bet a few others view him as a complete lowlife thug. There always seem to be a few players that are viewed like that. Burns, for example, is regarded as a total c**t around these parts, but I bet Perth fans love the guy for his aggresiveness. Even Musc**t is kind of the same, although he seems to be the only guy on a higher platform of next-level objective c**tiness.

I guess that's what being a one-eyed fan is all about!

Tangent/rant over.

My Adelaidian mates have a begrudging respect for him, they see him as less of a thug, more hard man/enforcer type. They were quite happy to see SigmUnd vs Cruze too.

Interesting, the line between hardman/enforcer and thug must be pretty slim sometimes though.

^^ Yeah that looks right. Although there was all that talk about Lindsay getting a go but then Manny flew in on a white plane, thats not happening this week so I presume its a possibility again.
Don't really like Sanchez playing out wide, maybe he'll get used to it.
Could do this instead:
                      Paston
Lia      Siggy       Dura        Lochy
                     Smith                             ?
