i have to say it, but I really regret that we re-signed Greeny. Thought it was good at the time, but now Dmac is really running it for us up top so we need to be getting him in.

Unless we can find another striker of similar stature, eg Killen, then Dmacs gotta stay

Totally agree on that. Greenie would be one of the more expensive signings. He will be 34 mid next season and you would not expect him to get any quicker. He really is just squad material now and is not really an impact player. I was surprised we re-signed him.
We should have gone to the market and tried to pick up a younger quicker striker.

When you get Daniel and Greenie coming off the bench it hardly inspiring. Both are big hearted players but frankly they are now too old and too slow.

You are right about Dmac's impact. Any striker who regularly scores is worth their weight in gold....just check out his scoring record for the last 8 games or so. OK he can fluff the odd chance and he is not as nimble when the ball is under his feet but he has prescence up front...he competes in the air and he holds it up well. That finish against the Jets was world class.
I have no problem if Dmac is signed on for next year. We should really sign another striker but having greenie and Pav on the books also may mean that 4 is too many.

Its time for Daniel to go, I love him as a role model for the club and hes good with the younger fans etc, but I just think it maybe time.

Sign McAlister, sign Rojas.

Bin Daniel, Diego, Toto, and possibly even Greenacre.

We could still do with another quality striker though, most definitely.

Loan/Sell Greenacre to League 2 or something

Re-sign Rojas and Big Mac and a GOOD striker. Also re-sign Ifill for another ~ 3 years - basically untilo the end of his career.

Pav, Diego, Toto are just wasted space, they only ever make the bench and only if Daniel, Greeny etc need to start because some of the regulars are injured/suspended. The Nix wouldnt do any worse with someone like Clapham in place of Diego

Pav is a youth player though. How many times, Rojas aside, have we seen a youth player get regular game time or even excel? Never.

So is James Musa a waste of space too?

Before I start defending Pav, because I probably shouldn't, just saying he's still very young and the same age as players who don't even get a look in in the first place, I would rather all youth players be New Zealanders, or an Islander. Gagame Feni ftw

Yeah I think Pav has potential.

I thought you were saying something different entirely,my mistake. Its a bit rough to say Pav is a waste of space in the same way you would say an older player is,as he has the potential to get better.

The way Diego sits there never coming close to the team but still taking money from the Nix is a horrible thought and it almost feels like the money is coming from my wallet.  Can't wait til he goes and we can sign someone else with the freed up money.

I'm pretty sure Pavlovic won't be a youth player next season, yet he has signed a two year contract.

Some fairly harsh criticism here of both Daniel and Greenacre.Yes, they are older players but both have given tremendous service to the club, both play with heart and commitment, and will fill the squad player roles off the bench more than adequately when required. Credit where credit is due.

Pavs young, hopefully coachable still, Diego and Toto are gone or likely gone next season, so too are other squad members not announced yet, (in all likelihood).
Plenty of space for new personnel in the required positions, I would say.

For key signings still to be confirmed (Rojas?) or retention of existing squad members, or any considering a move here, one of their big considerations will still be the future of the club and its financial viability.Hasn't been much said but hopefully Terry's had some improvement on that score.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

In a squad of 20-23 (especially in a salary capped league) there are always going to be players like that. You're gonna have to just get used to it.

I've got no problems with keeping Daniel and Greenie if they were on reduced wages to reflect what they actually do. If they are already signed to the higher wages - good luck to them. I like Pav, think he has potential and worth keeping. I have a feeling that whether Marco stays or not depends on his Father, hope he makes the right decision for us.

I doubt very much that greenacre was signed for less then he was on before. I have no idea why he was re signed early as clubs would hardly have been pounding on his door. In the meantime players like ward, rojas, big mac and hearfield remain unsigned. Take 3 out of those 4 out of the squad next year and we have some serious holes

Rumour in the stands is that Hearfield has gone already and if the Nick Ward we had yesterday is all we get I'll pack his bags for him.

I get the impression Hearfield wants to play further up the field but he won't really get those chances with the players we have. If that is the case you don't really want someone reluctantly filling a position.

Yes, bar managers who told their barstaff, who in turn told one or two of their patrons, which is where I heard it from too

hmmm so troy looking for an out. Atleast it means Ricki will have to look at a new RB option?

I think people have to remember that Pav and Greeny are signed for next year, so we cant ditch them.

A positive sign however, is that of our current starting 11, its Pav, Greeny, Ifill, Paston and Musa who are contracted, and they are all capable of doing a job, or growing into roles in the future.

The biggest issue is that Rojas, Mac, Ward, Lochhead & Troy are all uncontracted and are all in our 1st XI.

Ward didn't have his best game yesterday but notice how poor we were when he went off? More importantly he has what Lia, muscat abd brown don't have- a passing game and some creativity. Can't help thinking however that Ricki is playing him to far forward and he would be better suited to a more cm posi.

yeah not sure bout that. He loses the ball A LOT, and when he was playing further back earlier on, he did give away a few goals. Heart game comes to mind.

Although I could see him coming into a central berth this week if Ricki doesnt want to move to a 442?

Danny Invincibile has been released today, honestly no clue about him as a player, but does count as an Aussie.
