Can't really comment on what Marco's old man's reasons were for allegedly saying what he did. He may well just have been asked a question about his kid and that was his response. Maybe he had an ulterior motive, maybe he didn't, I don't know.
As I'm such a nice , trusting person (!), I'll give Tommy Smyth the benefit of the doubt as well. He's a Nix fan and he wanted to let everyone know about how the negotiations were apparently going.
If it's true, it's one side of the story, we are never going to get the other side because, quite rightly, the club's management aren't going to be bandying details of contract negotiations around. Sadly, that means that it's open season on Ricki, Terry and the Phoenix management. I would suspect, and hope, that the Club would be doing as much as they possibly can to keep Marco here.
Bottom line for me, is that it should never have been posted on here. At best it's misjudged, at worst it's manipulation of the situation.
As far as I'm concerned, Marco is still a Phoenix player and will be until he signs for somebody else. Opening up a can of worms like this doesn't help anybody.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
