Nick Ward, yep forgotten about him. I wouldn't be pissed if we signed a kiwi striker like Fallon or Killen. Fallon's flailing arms will fit perfectly in the more physical A-league, and Killen i think would do well.

Still would LOVE to have Nelsen come and retire here, but that'd be a big dream i know. But Dura is a good general of the backs too IMO.

Musa needs some more game time next to Dura too, to show him the rope. His game next to North was poor, but then North was being a crybaby for most of the game anyway, and not really leading the defence.

While i'd love to see some big names here, i don't see why we can't go for the cheaper (maybe) payroll, and pick up some really good local talent (if we can find enough of them).

Youth and speed paid off well for Brisbane, and they only had a couple of 'big names' or old heads in their squad.

I think you have forgotten one of the main reasons that Brisbane did well--- Ange Postecoglou

Very very good point.

Loving the McKain 'rumour' - the man was immense for us

I wonder what Nicki Ward could do for us if he could bring his best each game (he's absolute class one minute and sometimes not so much) - overall I'd like to see him get a decent run of games next season (i've -embarrasingly - completely forgotten were his contract is at)

above all I'd love to see a Fred-type player back!!

Only us.

He'd probably score own goals.  Has a touch of the Kruse's.  No thanks.

Think there is as good among NZ players.

are you seriously suggesting that because plymouth are in trouble, they're going to sell his contract cheaply?

& for that matter, that we're going to waste income on transfer fees?

Considering the administrators tried offloading him in the last window and their financial situation just got worse with relegation...yes I do think they'll sell him, hes one of their top earners and I doubt they'd be able to afford to keep him. Better for them to take a bit of a hit on a contract which won't have much left on it than to keep wearing those 'big' wages down in league 2 (or worse, go bust).

Of course this debate is a non issue if he is out of contract, which looks to be the case on the fan forums over there.

Would the Phoenix pay a transfer fee? doubt it...

Danning wouldnt be too bad, we've had worse

We've had this debate.  The new Prince Quansah.  Fast but can't control a ball or kick one accurately.

Also apparently he wants too much money.

If Plymouth are in that bad state they would be happy to reduce their wage bill. Lets say we wanted to sign Fallon and Plymouth were happy to let him go, Fallon might only agree to leave if Plymouth top up his 'Nix contract so it matches what he was earning at Plymouth until his contract at Plymouth would have ended. No idea how this would work in the salary cap system.

And with disco Stu, could be ok. Think he could work well alongside either Lia or Muscat, double pivot in 4231 with Stu being the Schweinsteiger to Lia's/Muscat's Khedira

Fallon would be marquee. His wages + transfer fee would be outside the salary cap. But there's no way we should go for him if there is a transfer fee.

Sydney release Kofi Danning, Stephan Keller, Stuart Musialik and Brendan Gan..... interesting these are not bad players ... I wonder if the Nix would be interested in any of them..

we have seen the nix being interested in Danning, and think he could be ok if he is hungry enough and willing to wait for his chance.

How old is he though? 20? So counts towards a youth spot still?
He couldn't be worth youth marquee really, however I think we may as well subsidize someones wages with that title?

I really wouldnt mid him, but his attitude is quite important.

Ideally I'd love to see 15/16 proven pros, and the rest of the squad filled up with hungry promising youth. I dont care if we only have to have 3 under 21s, think itd work out in the long term for us

Sigh...

I guess it's the type of player we're missing with Rojas leaving, but Pantelis hasn't been any good for quite a while

Is injury plagued (mostly his knee which he seems to do every few weeks) and isn't getting any younger

Still, he always seemed to pull something out against us and at least we're signing someone. With a good pre-season and no injury worries (cross your fingers and toes) he could turn out to be a good signing

Not saying he's a horrible player, but it doesn't matter how good you are if you're always injured. Sounds like this years Diego to me.

Still, good replacement for Marco.valeo2011-05-15 19:09:59

True, guess our aim at the moment should be to bolster the squad with proven A-Leaguers

What kind of role do you think he can fill? Will he be a first team player like Bertos (maybe not now), a good role guy like Carceres or a flop like Diego?

This thread is about speculation, not confirmed signi... oh well
