Sorry, as in the transfer fee is part of the salary cap?
Not much of a salary cap then is it?
Not much of a salary cap then is it?
Yeah I thought i was. Might be wrong tho. Sure someone more knowledgeable will know for sure. But even if it isn't not many clubs have the dosh to pay transfer fees.
EDIT: OK I'm wrong :) Can't see any reference to player transfer fees in the cap rules..

Pretty sure Nix have never paid a transfer fee though.

Anyone who's ever seen Boyens play in the MLS wouldn't even dream of suggesting we sign him. I remember watching a Red Bulls game he started and was dragged 15-20 minutes in, that's how bad he was. He simply ball-watches too much and get easily caught off guard and out of position, and doesn't have great speed or imposing physical presence to recover in those situations. He was on the outer there well before Marquez even arrived.
The reality is that RH rates him below Siggy, as their position in the AWs pecking order would suggest. We should be getting better players than that if we have genuine title aspirations.

That was a game. As in one game. Everyone has bad games. Ifills had bad games...
Like I said before though, Siggy has the benefit of playing under Ricki 'domestically' so when an AWs selection roles around he has a huge advantage over Boyens.
Ricki also rates Clapham to be in the top 23 current kiwi footballers, yet for some reason we have players like Diego, who doesnt even play, getting into the Nix before him. So is Clapham not expected to do as good a job as Diego?
He also blew us a draw against Australia in the pre-world cup game.

Not Diego's fault though. He's been pretty hard done by to be be honest. I'm not sure of the logic behind his signing but he'd have started every game this year at somewhere like North Queensland.

He can be a good A-League player and with our current suspensions he should be in the matchday squad and probably would be, but for injury.
Really? I get he's at the end of his career, but I think he's the very reason why we've become nervous about offering more than 1 year contracts.
For the last two years he's regularly been seen 'recovering' from injuries down courtney place, and applying an altogether different training criteria. His "Ricky doesn't like me" cry, should be taken with a pinch of salt.
To be honest, he spends so much time in the Ponderosa, I thought he'd become their bar manager. He's had his salary, he's had his Century City apartment, he's being paid no matter what - let's not confuse that with his ability to be able to do a job for us.
As it is, he seems to be doing a good job of leveraging the fact that he's a Phoenix squad player to promote his and Daniel's Brazilian soccer skills business.

I am very concerned about the impact of terrys money problems on potential transfers. When players kiwi saver money has not been paid, then no foreigner is going to want to come and play here. I hope these Swiss bankers come to the party but I am not holding my breath. The other concern is that Terry has to go offshore to find this money as obviously no one wants to touch him in NZ
Auckland will rise once more

he has been playing for Adelaide since 07 which makes me think he can't be a citizen yet.
You can apply after 2 years.
That's PR isn't it - it's 5 years for citizenship now
That's the case in New Zealand...not sure about Australia though?
Can't see it being as little as 2 years though.

Dont think its been mentioned so here goes:
1. Article stating financial future 'looking brighter'
2. Injuries and suspensions weaken playing squad as final series beckons
3. Two attacking (!?) players are brought in as injury cover
4. Terry flies to Switzerland to meet Swiss 'bankers'
5. Mysteriously the same day, a Swiss right-sided defender is all of a sudden linked with the a-league
https://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/195691,swiss-star-eyes-aleague.aspx
Coincidence?? djtim30002011-02-08 21:47:30

The club told me everything is sweet and the money problems won't stop us from retaining players and bringing in new ones. Everything is fine, just chill out. We're going to sign Messi.
Are you sure they didn't say "our recruitment policy is messy"?

OMG I hope you are right. He is a right back and bloody quality too! FC Basel is a very good club. Would make an incredible signing. He is a free agent now too. Luis Garcia2011-02-08 22:12:12

lovemore for a YF scholoarship next year!
I'd rather not waste a trial at the club on a player who just played for said club. Kinda defeats the purpose
Lovemore for Nix first team youth player, however, I remain 100% behind!

Tap into the NZ market Ricki - screw going to England and overpaying some shmuck to do the same job, look at all these fantastic youngsters coming out of NZ in the last several years:
Reid
Smith
Wood
Rojas
and imo very soon to be:
Clapham
Lovemore
Any ONE of the above players is a better signing than Toto, Pavlovic and Diego put together

Name them.
A New Zealander (other than Smeltz) hasn't won an NZ National League scoring title in a decade. So who is the Ifill replacement, how about the Centre Back option? A Right Back?
The club know most of who is out there, look at the youth side. They are better judges of who has the goods for the A-league than us.

I'm talking about the cheap alternatives u have to fill a squad with when you have your starting 11 . Why pay somebody like pavlovic who we know is average at best when u can probably get a better and cheaper nzer - while also developing nz football.
Also, you can always hit a gem - I rate Rojas just as much as Ifill now. And what is he, 18 on minimum wages?

But that's not what they're going to the UK to look fo is it. They're going to Europe to look for first team contenders.
There are reasons behind Diego's signing but he has in his time with A-League sides been a very good quality A-League player.
Agree on Psycho, don't understand the extension for him at all and Toto was a punt due to short timeframes but none of them are what they are going to the UK to look for.
Also concerned about rumours we're extending North. If it's for anything less than minimum wage it's a mistake.
