Smith could come on a loan (not that I think he would) as he's not likely to get much game time since Jewell's recruitment drive.

strange that Tommy was pretty good and a constant performer under Keane, and now playing rather average under Jewell. Get out man..

Whilst I would love to see Tommy Smith in a Nix shirt, why would he want to leave Ipswich? Not going to happen. Susak sounds like a good option.

Isn't he out on loan at Colchester though?

Whilst the A League might be a similar level to League 1, he would be out of sight in england. He is better to be seen in england than play well here.

hope we get some clues soon.

As someone said, wouldnt it be great if we get an announcement that Tony Warner will be GK coach, we bring in an U21 kiwi/aussie kid, then sign up a striker and another import.

My biggest concern now tbh in actually our defense, as Ricki seems settled with it, yet they are constantly under performing by all accounts. Griffiths wont help, but neither would Bran really, unless given a real shot.

but we cant afford to use our import spot on a CB when we need it on a striker, and im not sure where we will find any kiwi or Aussie CBs better than siggy or Dura?

My other concern is Ricki's lack of desire to start our new signings. In my opinion the pre-season games should be when these guys get the most chance to prove themselves, rather than 20/15 /10 min cameos off the bench

I'm open to the concept of starting Sanchez for Lia and having Brown plug the gap between him and Muscat. I looked at Griffiths yesterday and he is faster, taller, and better on the ball but with limited chance to show, I am not sure he is an upgrade over Sigmund.

I would have liked to have seen NTG start for Lochhead just to see how he looks in the top squad.

I think we should be chasing a spine right down the middle - an out and out box to box midfielder (and it shows how good Ross Aloisi was for us), a striker and a centre back

Can't really see Tim Brown as a 'gap plugger' to be honest...goes missing in action enough as it it...wonder if Lia is able to play slightly higher up the park?

21, they have so much depth though.

The signings of Susak and McKain means a solid defense in front of probably the best keeper in the league.

They have a good midfield and strikers too.

Fantasy A-League is showing Lovemore as a member of our squad. Is this breaking news or did I just miss the boat on that one?

How was this three striker thing interpreted? Does Ricki mean he's looking at 3 but only 1 will sign or is he looking to sign two of the three. Hopefully we don't settle for a 20 man squad.

Surely it would be 20 men by October 9 with a few more to be added later, once the Secret Seven start making a budget available.

My guess is it's 1 out of the 3 with the others made up of the triallists (Chettleburgh et al).

which triallist looking good?

Bran looked ok...we've signed Sanchez...how about Thurtell Griffiths etc...

Not based on anything but I reckon Griffiths will be signed.

His appearance strikes me as suggesting that the the BranBus has broken down and Griffiths is the next man up.

Pericard had trials for Malaga and Barcelona but after promising trials for both issues with his weight and his pace stopped both clubs from giving him a contract as both clubs were looking for a player who could break walking pace

Not sure that any of these are actually realistic but I had fun procrastinating for a while. :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Johnson_(American_soccer) - MLS would be more likely.

Marcus Bent wouldn't be a bad option, reasonable career at a high level and is a target man.

Hasn't been particularly prolific apart from a couple of 6 month periods when newly signed by clubs.

6 months to get us thru to next season would do me.

And Ricki says the 20 won't be a problem:

Griffeths did his best to get noticed by passing the ball striaght to the Mariners attackers on Sunday. Well I guess its keeps things entertaining!
